I must be missing something. Not sure how a Nebraska team that lost 7 matches to UNI is really much of a threat to beating PSU. Gotta believe this is likely a 36-0 or at worst 30-6 match depending on if PSU wrestles all their starters.
Heres the way i look at it...just because a team is competitive in the league doesn't mean they are going to be a head to head challenge against Penn State. Nebraska is a good team, but its just insane how good Penn State is top to bottom.
The best that Nebraska can hope for is to win 1 or 2 matches at best. PSU will collect bonus points in over half of the matches. A shutout by the visitors is as likely as Nebraska winning 2 matches. One fan's opinion.
I was in Lincoln for the 2020 dual. It came down to heavy. Brooks was a freshman and lost, our 125 hole hurt us. RBY beat ridge. It was the biggest attendance in their are arena.
To say there is a big gap between Ridge Lovett and Van Ness is a stretch. Ridge is one of the most dangerous wrestlers in the field and has been the #1 seed before. Kept it close with Yianni... maybe Shane is better this year but I see Ridge taking that one.
This may be the only time Penn St could be behind at the break (presuming match starts at 125). Nebraska could win 3 of first 5 weights if things break right. Huskers will be lucky to win 1 match in the second half.
You are living in a fantasy world. Penn State will not get techs in the first 5 matches, but they are good enough to win all of the first 5 matches starting at 125. I see the first 5 as PSU decisions with a possible exception of a major at 133. That is how good their team is
@@davedowling6053 Huskers are ranked ahead of Penn State at 125. PSU wins 4 out of 5 if everything goes chalk in the first 5 bouts. Bu PSU is much better at 125 than ranking shows. Lliedahl is only ranked so low because he is a freshman. I predict he moves up with a win tonight. Unfortunately for Nebraska, they are a much better team than the score will show
Think you're wrong at 141.......Hardy is 1-1 against Bartlett. This is the rubber match. Lower wts will be tight. Upper wts will get ugly for the Huskers.
Iowa matches up worse against PSU than Nebraska does. The first 5 weights could be close tonight, against Iowa, it’s just 133 and 197 unless Teemer comes back.
Zach, love ur content and ur interviews, but don’t allow ur heart to keep on getting beat up by rooting for the football program. That group will indefinitely lose 2-3 games a year, and never win an ncaa championship.
Can't agree on either point. Friday night should prove one of us wrong. PSU has a weak link in lineup? Many of their back ups would start on most other teams. They are just starters in waiting, not backups
Love to see PSU get more bonus Points with this team
"It is hard to go for 7 minutes at Levi Haines' pace." Comments like this are why I like to check in on Byers' opinions.

Completely agree

Will the Penn State-Nebraska match be on TV?
Yes on the Big 10 network. 9 pm on Friday, 1/17/25.
Big ten network
what % are you giving that we see all these match ups ?
90%. Nebraska and Penn State should roll out their A-lineups. It's a Big Ten dual meet. The only reason guys wouldn't wrestle is due to injury.
I love that you refered to shayne as a "veteran" and kasak as not but they are both sophmores
SVN has been at Penn State since 2021, while Kasak arrived in 2023.
@@LockedOnNittanyLions i know, i just think its funny
Watching penn state wrestle is like watching mold grow

I could see us losing 3 as well.

@@markking4361rankings are pretty subjective at this time of year with young wrestlers.
And MM will tf Minto.
Yes
I can't believe how scrappy the Lions are in the close matches.
What if Nebraska takes the first 5??
That would be quite the run. I can't envision a match where Lilledahl, Davis, Bartlett, SVN, and Kasak all lose consecutively.
@ not likely. But they have zero chance of winning the other 5?
2025 PSU wrestling team will be the greatest ever in the NCAA.
Nebraska is an awesome team.....but....PSU has the best college team ever assembled. EVER. So, ya, it will be a slaughter.

The only school that can give Penn state a challenge is Iowa
mmmm.....no!
I don't think Iowa is in league with Penn State this season. A couple bouts maybe they give a little stress, but Iowa will still get dominated.
That’s debatable but Iowa is coming on strong now.

Braden Davis isn’t there yet. He’s still a whiner and inconsistent. He’s the weak link in this team.
