- On planet BG-386 a colonist mining group discovers an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret. Across the stars a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs, whilst deep inside the ruined pyramid a malevolent intelligence awakes from centuries of dormancy.
The Marine’s story is an incredible fight against the odds, and the horrors lurking in the dark. Beset on all sides yet armed to the teeth, the Colonial Marine represents humanity’s last stand with the firepower to fight back.

The Tracker noise is what really makes the aliens scary
so your tellin me, a Xenomorph
- it's blood is made of acid, so if you kill it it'll start melting things around and possibly injure you
- it's fast, like hella fuckin fast, and very mobile too, these things sprint on walls and ceilings
- it can see in the dark and sense you through walls, no hiding from these
- they reach far with their tail
- they leave parasites in you that grow into one of them, or drag you into a nest instead of killing you so the nest slowly consumes you
and you just fear the beep bloop boop bleep?!

that and the screems and the pulse rifle sound is just perfect
I love how everyone calls him the rookie but in the end he is a complete badass who kills the alien queen and completes the mission

no it wasnt, it was a fucking rip off, I pre ordered it and the game came incomplete which they didnt even tell you about, fucking multiplayer was released still in beta, the game was 10.000 peak on steam when it came out and in less than a week was with 600 people playing it. it was that bad

Alien vs Predator 2 from 2001 was even better - more Alien and Predator varieties, longer and more interesting campaign, etc. And IMO, AVP1 (1999) was probably the scariest in terms of atmosphere.

@@user-en4eo1cc4t lol, the darkness was part of the fun. You had night vision, but flares and gunfire blinded your night vision. You had flares too, but this was limited in how many you can deploy and the limited radius that you can light up. So there was a tradeoff on vision vs combat effectiveness...which created a tense atmosphere of making you always seem vnuerable even when you had top tier weapons like the mini-gun or Skeeter-BFG thing.

I like how you played this game without fixing the glitched skybox, then again maybe the Rookie was suffering a concussion induced hallucination from getting hit in the head with a metal box on the dropship. That or he got high from using his first med-stim after waking up. XD
Still fucking terrifying. the pulse tracker just adds to the tension in the game and the dark environment. Still one of the best films and games that was made.
The level design and lighting in this game is amazing, I wonder if anyone appreciated it at the time 🤔
At time it released in early 2010, a few cards can handle this game in DX11 on FHD...
I remember when it was released. People thought it looked awesome, but the game got mixed reviews because of its gameplay which was a step down from AVP2. I remember people getting angry about it being dumbed down for the consoles, which was kinda true.

@@CYBERLEXX That was how it was for many games at that time I remember. Everyone talked about dumbing down for the consoles. But for current games it is not so bad imo. Or maybe we just got used to it. I just remember all FPS games all of sudden had quick time events and regenerative health. Nobody asked for that. PC fps games had to be cranked up to max difficulty to have just a bit of a challenge.

This game was an absolute gem
This marine is unequivocally the strongest unaugmented/unmodified human in the franchise. He can block xeno talons with his _forearms_ and has the strength to throw a xeno off-balance with a slug to its jaw.
srgt Waskes (female) was able to pin whole xeno to the wall by her leg before shoot on xenos head (movie Aliens ) and so that is not something too much weird when male marine able to avoid damage by blocking the light attack with his rifle. Btw the "heavy attack" done by alien of Predator cannot be blocked by a gun (it deals full damage thru the block) in this game so aliens and Predator still have the upperhand in melee

That part was so legendary I actually used footage of me playing it for my Lighting class where we had to pick examples of media where the lighting heavily influenced the scene. That one part always had me on edge!

Man, this game brings me back. Biggest problem with the way this game worked is it was far too easy for the Marine to defend themselves when the xenos got close. I'm just imagining a remake of this game with Alien AI and deadliness more like Alien: Isolation. That would be perfect.

I love how you make sure the Facehuggers are dead. I'd do the same. Also if you decide to play this as a Human again, here's a tip for killing Xenos: take out their legs. Everywhere else on their bodies can tank most of your shots to a point. But take out the legs and they get much weaker.

im spoiling, but, the robo-chick says that to show respect, that she was not a threat, shes a robot lol, made by WY and ultimately betrays rookie and humans as per say, cause her plan was to aquire a live specimen and transport it, so she was nice to rookie for him to believe her "nice" intentions on putting tequila on hyper-sleep, because i think she was the one to trigger the weyland video saying he will come for them, and prevent t quila's surgery to remove the specimen., so, yeah, it IS weird that he got from rookie to private in 3 seconds or so xD
AvP games - yes. I love marine playthrough - its scarry. I played all AvP games, my fav is AvP 2 game - Litech engine !
Same here. AVP2 had the best campaign. IMO, AVP1 (1999) was probably the scariest in terms of atmosphere.
I got so much anxiety just watching him use his pistol the whole time instead of using his pulse rifle🥶🥶🥶
It’s funny I used to basically “farm” the Xeno campaign on nightmare, absolutely loved it to the point where I could do a finisher on every enemy. Predator I defo enjoyed on nightmare but still struggled. Marine though was the only campaign I could never complete on nightmare lol, think I got to labs and just couldn’t get passed the praetorian on nightmare lmao. Not to mention after all this time I’ve only just noticed the Marlow was actually turning towards the predator ship which was a good feature
Use the shotgun and grenade launchers on the praetorian. Don’t let it get close to you.
Rebellion need a contract for avp games, assuming they still a company. Game needs a sequel

This was such a fun campaign, I was so excited when they released the Aliens: Colonial Marines Game. After seeing the game demo, E3 footage and trailers made it look so good! So I put extra money and effort to pre-order and the game turnt out to be a cut-short, cheap disaster. I was frustrated, not only does this game have a kick-ass marine campaign but also two other awesome ones! Such a disappointment they couldn’t make it as good as this was!

I really wished they remastered this game, or created another one for Xbox One and PS4. I would have grabbed it instantly, this game was a blast to just play over and over again. the Alien campaign was hands down my favorite, felt badass and fun being the terrifying beast for once in the Alien franchise.

The problem with the 2010 AVP game wasn't the fact that it's short, but it was clearly made for multiplayer first in mind rather than single player first and multi second. Monolith understood that when they made AVP2, which is why even today there are people still playing it

Very interesting and fun game. But, I want to know what font is used for the text at the starting screen of this game (on 0:01). I don't think about Aliens vs Predator logotype font, but text font. I want to find out what's the name of the text font used on starting screen of AVP 2010. I've tried every font identifier, and they were incapable to find that font (which means that they are inaccurate). I want to know what's the name of the text font (since the game is so beautiful and interesting, it's text font is also beautiful (and looks futuristic)).

The Pathetic Human campaign on Nightmare truly was hard af, the Xenomorph and Predator Campaign on Nightmare wasn’t that bad
Wow, I played this once up until the club part. I've never realized that the ones that took the marines in there was the predator because you showed the hanging skinless bodies of them. Good stuff.

I think the skinless bodies were there pre planet arrival for the marines, im pretty sure the marines you encounter are all on the floor as normal and were killed by aliens, Private Gibson even confirms this when he says it was a slaughter other wise if it was a predator I highly doubt they would have tried getting back to the rookie, it was just aliens, the hanging bodies were likely colonists, you see a lot of hanging bodies in the jungle when you play as the predator as well and that’s before you even encounter the marines so the bodies you see hanging are likely from the first 3 predators that came to the planet to hunt as 2 of them are killed in Ruins, the predator leader is then impregnated and the 4th predator is the one that rookie encounters in Jungle and Ruins.
Mr. Lance Henriksen's voice is so distinct and unique. Definitely, you won't miss it. He portrays three different iconic movie characters such as Detective Hal Vukovich (Terminator [1984]) and Bishop as a Synthetic (Aliens [1986] & Aliens 3 [1992]) then Charles Bishop Weyland as a Entrepreneur/ Businessman (AVP [2004]).
I wouldn't mind seeing this in VR.
I never realized it was an alien that took the marine in the ruins level on the marine canpaign. I always thought it was the predator that took him. The more you know huh.
I just loved the Multiplayer of this game. Such fun.

This game was given so much shit but I remember picking it up for €5 a few years back and had a fantastic time playing it. Had problems but fun for what it was.
I loved the first 2 AvP FPS games. When this first came out I was a little disappointed with it. Since the launch of Colonial Marines I appreciate this game so much more

Watching this clip brings back memories. You're trying to enjoy an otherwise decent game... and then "Get to the elevator. I left an objective marker." "Get to the door. I left an objective marker." "If you find weapons feel free to pick them up." "Remember that you have stim packs. Use one." "Your hacking is complete. The door is now open." "Your objective is right in front of you. Keep going forward." And on top of that, the over-bearing HUD basically plays the game for you.
This game has the best presentation of the Smartgun.
The sounds are wrong though. So is the hud (Should be infrared/thermal). Also, it kinda sucks that we can't run with it. I mean Vasquez could run with it in the movie.
I prefer this one over the older AvP's or even Acm.
just saw it, anybody notice at the start of the game, when he first shoots his pistol and reloads it, the reload SFX is the same as the Sniper Rifle reload from halo 1, so awesome

@@Noctazar Even though Fireteam Elite is fairly low budget I still think it looks better than AvP 2010, especially after the first campaign. The areas on the surface of the planet, the Engineer structures and the Xenomorph nest all look great in my opinion
This is up there in my top 5 all time favorites games growing up.
I spent countless hours playing this game, one of the absolute best. Definitely up there with Alien Isolation.
The only thing I wish is that they made an Alien Isolation sequel that correlated the story with Aliens (1986) and featured gameplay that was similar to this but on remastered consoles.

I remember the multi-player team deathmatch with 3 teams alien, predators and marines. If you played alien you had to be sneaky and ambush others Predators had all the cool weapons and if you were on the marine side team work was key because if you were alone you were screwed.
And don't forget the mixed species team deathmatch
As much as I loved this when it came out - the whole thing of being able to punch the Xenomorphs away took a lot of the terror out of this game, at least from the marine's perspective.
They had to find some way to give them a fighting chance 🤷🏽♂️
@@dantemcmillan6337 the way to give them a fighting chance is by giving the Marine a gun. If a marine can shoot a Xenomorph down, and can knock it back with no problem, that's pretty overpowered when xenos have no ranged options.
@@RepKyle95 While it did take away some of the fear in campaign, it didn't help at all in multiplayer. You felt exactly like a marine should, scared and vulnerable.
@@skeetsvar162 I played as a marine in multiplayer and it really didn't scare me because if they tried a light attack I could just block, knockback, and shoot them to death. If they did a heavy, you could interrupt with a melee, then shoot them to death.

Such an awesome game, I played this a lot! Even AvP II for PC was great. i remember being excited about colonial marines but it was a complete dissapointment.

the multiplayer was so much fun the most fun I ever had was playing as the predator. I used to be one of the best xeno killers, I hunted xenos and the marines where just a distraction. too bad the mp is dead, damn it.

Very fun idea, the alien can hide everywhere, walk on the wall, run fast, use acid, make some noises to distract you...
The problem? MAPS, the online maps were just useless, nothing to do until wait the death, no objective, no escape, no runing, no robot armor, no Escape crew capsulen no locking door, no hiding place, nothing, NOTHING, you spawn here, you survive until aliens are more and more and kill us all ...
Trust me, i'm a real gamer and i told that this game had fucking potential, it's a mess, they ruined it because developpers were lazy...
Single Player was good and better than Aliens colonial Marine. And you are right about the Multiplayer.
14 years old and it still looks pretty damn good.
They should make this free to keep on steam to revive the multiplayer, It was awesome.

Hoi 4 - an amazing game that is worth every penny. Playing solo can be really good fun, and hopping into a multiplayer lobby with people who know what they are doing is even better. Great mod support, great dlc, great cheats - Cheat Land, great game.
I'm amazed no one during development thought the motion tracker's constant noise was annoying.
at first was extremely annoyed by it years ago but now it's allgood adds more horror into the gameplay

I didnt note the times of the fast forward, but it happened when he was going from one area to another that nothing was happening, nothing was picked up or collected or no enemies were encountered...just uneventful travel. Sorry JR.

The thing I found disappointing about this game was level design. The earlier AVP2 game really made the linear levels feel like you were "finding" your way forward. You would run into blocked path and discover another route that took you in an entirely different direction. AVP2010's level design felt more like a sequence of interconnected rooms where you could fight some enemies.
What the hell, how did I miss this game? I need to hunt it down now!

The difficulty spikes on normal Marine are frustrating enough.
When an old game looks and plays better than the Triple A titles from 2023
it would be a good game with an open world like Crysis or Far Cry where you walk around the island and look for a predator that crashed somewhere in the mountains because it was carrying aliens and now the whole island is in danger, while you destroy the aliens that are already scattered around the island

BG-386 was an absolute nightmare of a planet. Dozens and dozens of humans and Xenomorphs, and even seven Predators, died on that slaughterhouse of a rock.
