Freddie was so much more than a rock singer! He composed a whole duet album for Montserrat, who was one of the greatest opera divas of the 20th century.
Montserrat said that Freddie loved her and she loved him. She said very early on in their working relationship, they were singing together & she looked at him and she knew it, that he had conquered her. Montserrat was Freddie’s favorite opera singer in the world. 🌎 ❤
Montserrat Caballe's nickname was Montsey. (Much EASIER to say!) BTW... The background voices singing, were actually ALL Freddie's own voice/multilayered backing vocals. (I guess they must've had the "singers" onstage for visual effect?)
Freddie so admired Montserrat, so this was a dream come true for him. He wrote this song for her for the 92 Olympics in Barcelona sadly he passed away in 1991.
They shook the foundations from the sky!! They were meant to be. A perfect pair musically. She said Freddie taught her it was ok to move around the stage. Opera singers don't usually move. What a great song and preformance. One of Freddie's last live prefomance ❤❤❤❤❤ One song that doesn't get a lot of reaction is Bijou by Queen. Freddie had a cat named Bijou. It's a beautiful song.
Opera singer most certainly do move around a lot! If they are doing opera in the theatre, they really do have to move around, here is very short example - th-cam.com/video/zIOJXCZxjPg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SlHv9-MX0HOkvBA0 Opera singer only stand on one spot during a recitals. Of course the biggest difficulty with opera singing is that you have to sing without a microphone or amplification, so you cannot sing with your back too much to the crowd, otherwise you might not be heard properly. Freddie and Montserrat was a great pair but he did not teach her to move around, and obviously Freddie was the best frontman but he did not teach Montserrat to move on stage.
Thanks, Mann - the DRAMA! These two were kindred souls, as well as amazing musical talents! (also see "How can I go On" by them... and "the Golden Boy"... they actually did an entire album) appreciate your reaction...
Chills every time I hear this ❤. One to listen to first thing in the morning, what an uplift to start the day ❤❤❤❤ Freddie could sing the phone book and it would sound amazing, what a pairing though x
Written in the hope of being picked for the Barcelona Olympics (it was), it’s essentially Freddie’s love letter to Montsy about the first time they met. One of his greatest accomplishments.
You really don’t even need to say anything, just watching your face was enough to know how much she loved it. Montserrat was the premiere soprano of opera, and Friday adored her. He wrote an entire album for them. They became very close friends, and she really loved Freddie. Totally amazing.
Great song. Try Guide Me Home and Golden Boy from the same album. Only Freddie could pull off a hit album he co-wrote and performed with an opera soprano diva like Monserrat Caballe (pronounced: Mon-sir-ot. Cab-all-yee-a) This song was performed by her in the 1992 Olympics. Freddie had passed away. 😢. They adored each other and he confided his aids status with her. She kept his secret. She confided she thought she was too old and heavy to sing with him. He told her music has no age it looks darling.
Montsy was the Top Diva in the world at the time Freddie adored her and wanted to meet her. They became best friends. Barcelona was written by Freddie for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona . Freddie died in 1991 so was not able to see his dream come true but Montsy sang it without Freddie 😓 Montsy asked him if he could write a whole album for them to do together and he did and it’s named Barcelona You would love the entire album esp Golden Boy which all Freddie fans think is about Freddie 🥰
I loved your reaction I bet when you got up this morning you didn't think you would be listening to opera and liking it 😅. A match made in heaven, where they both sing today. By 87 Freddie knew that he had Aids but it was only known to his inner circle, however such was the love they felt for each other he shared this with her,who he called Monday. He wrote this song for her, when it was chosen for the 92 Barcelona Olympics he had to break to her the news that he knew he would no longer be alive then. He wrote a great album for them both, if you fancy some more I would recommend these 3, how can I go on, golden boy and exercises in free love/ guide me home. This a weird and wonderful journey, enjoy x
Yes! Please add “The Golden Boy” to your list; Opera and Rock collide! For yet another style Freddie masters vocally, please consider “Cool Cat”, official video. Thanks!
@@LilmannReacts Thanks! I think I'm the only one who commented on "Jailhouse Rock" so don't know if you saw it. I suggested a Queen version from 1975 but they also performed it at the 1981 Montreal concert which is a "prettier" version and not a medley. Just thought you might enjoy it.
El gran regalo que nos dejaron estos dos monstruos. Eternamente agradecida !!!! Eternamente añorandolos. Dos estrella ETERNAS❤❤❤
❤❤❤genios por siempre 😢😊😊😊😊

Montserrat Maravilhosa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Freddie showing the world his full capabilities. A Queen song to react to is Scandal that gets so overlooked
A romance sanctioned in the Lap of the Gods ❤ never to be replaced or repeated, a magical & MercuryMontserrat 😊meeting of the souls

Barcelona is the appetizer
The Golden Boy is the main course! Bon Appetit!

They had a great love for each other and sang a few songs together. It’s good to see what else Freddie could do. Loved your reaction. 👍🏾😊

Apparently she asked Freddie to perform this at the Barcelona olympics but he told her he would be gone by then. 😪😪

Montsy - not Monday. That dratted spellcheck strikes again!
You've got to react to queen I want to break free live Japan 1985. Freddie is funny as hell in this one.
R.I.P. FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
Since you have heard Barcelona, you must listen to , How Can I Go On by the same two. It’s magic.
Freddie was simply a genius.
Bohemian Rhapsody and Killer Queen/ I’m in love with my car from Rock Montreal in 1981 will change your life.
And how could I forget about Somebody to love from that concert. That song more than any other will blow your mind!
Glad you appreciated both of these wonderful singers! I think you would really enjoy Peter Gabriel,
In your eyes, secret world live
This is the first opera cross over
It was selected for the Barcalona olympics but unfortunately Freddie was no longer with us
Loved it, try The Golden Boy
