    With the dedication and passion that the Captain, CEO and permanent crew give to these kids; what they take away from this is life changing and something they will never forget. Great thanks also to the sponsors who have and continue to make this happen.
    Yes from previous experience 2 weeks seems to be about the ideal length of time for young students and 1 week for adults.

    What a fantastic program for youth. The experience has to create lifetime memories & friendships along with social & technical skills. There needs to be many more of this type of program for our young people. Kudos to these gentlemen who are dedicated to make this an ongoing success. I'm sure they have no problem getting kids to sign up for this. Thanks for sharing!

    Super Outstanding Video As Always! "I often ponder if I was born too late, or perhaps I lived as a pirate in another life, sailing the uncharted waters and chasing horizons with relentless passion. Like the timeless lyrics of Jimmy Buffett's 'A Pirate Looks at Forty,' my soul has always yearned for the boundless adventure of the open seas, and the exhilarating freedom to chart my own daring course." James, I have some sad news concerning Easter Island. An arsonist set a fire that charred and cracked the Moai figures. The authorities say the damage cannot be undone. I'll include some of the report below. Would you be able to link your Easter Island episode in your next episode? I would love to see it again. I've told you before your video of the Moai statutes and the island was awesome. Here is some of the report: "A fire set on Easter Island has badly damaged the sacred “moai” statues-some irreparably, according to the director of the park.
    The blaze was set deliberately on Monday around the Rano Raraku volcano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it spread over an area of 148 acres. Mayor Pedro Edmunds Paoa has called the event an act or arson. “All the fires Rapa Nui are caused by human beings,” he told the local broadcaster Radio Pauta.
    “The damage caused by the fire can’t be undone,” he continued. “The cracking of an original and emblematic stone cannot be recovered, no matter how many millions or euros or dollars are put into it.”
    It is unclear how many statues were damaged.
    A lack of volunteers slowed down the response to the fire, according to Ariki Tepano, director of the Ma’u Henua community, which who oversees the parks management." :¬( Webhead USA

    • @thelastpirate
      @thelastpirate  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It hurts my heart to hear that. These statues have survived much more than arson... A tsunami in the 60's knocked them over and carried a few inland quite a ways. Plus, due to the tribal warring, they were knocked over and most of the heads broken off. I think the resilience of the Moai and people of Easter Island will carry on forever. I'll actually be going back there next year (haven't announced that yet, but I'm working on the video). Thank you for letting me know. I'll link the easter episode with the announcement video in 2 weeks :) Thanks for the update.

    "Scalawags" Let's be proper, James. I used to spell it with an "e", but looking up the history of nautical and pirate terms and shanty lingo, I discovered it was "Scalawags". Best sailing U-Swab. I made that up...Underwater-Sailor, but now, keep the boat in the water and the water out of the boat.

    Curious
    do a lot of "TH-cam cruisers" halt their lives, wherever they are in the world, to attend the Annapolis Boat Show?

    • @thelastpirate
      @thelastpirate  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is only the second year for the TH-cam booth at the Annapolis boat show, but with the success of the first show last year I imagine more and more channels will want to attend. This year there will be something like 50 channels! Amazing. When I started my channel there was only a dozen, or so, of us. Now there's hundreds of cruising channels. I love it. So, to answer your question, yes. ;)
