      Love your videos! I have to say doing laundry is my least favorite task to do, but grocery shopping can be fun. You both do well as a team, thank you for sharing.

      I watch you guys for the Loop, but I hang in there for the editing. Y’all do such an awesome job of making it all real life. Hard to adequately describe, but there is no narcissism in your art. I follow some others and they get tedious fast. Pardon my gushing, but y’all do a great job!

    Welcome to Illinois. We have corn for days and a lot of flat land. Lots and lots without so much as a bump (other than our roads they have lots)

    I'm not sure if you know about this, but they have portable washing machines for an rv that use a gallon of water per load. I bought one from Amazon for around a hundred bucks for trips and it works amazing! It cleans better than the $1200 washer at home. It does like a ten minute wash and then a spin cycle in a different tub and almost is dry, then just hang dry. The machine is pretty small and weighs like 25 pounds. I use river water lots of times too and biodegradable detergent

      Nice, good tip! We almost bought one, but decided not to because we didn't have a great place to put it. In the future, next boat, we'll do that!

    Try putting peppermint extract in with your washdown water, it'll help repel spiders.

    Seriously, even having a boat at home takes a lot of work. Lots of prep just to go out for the day. Internet speeds will be the thing your grandchildren laugh about when they hear how long uploading took. Like a phone attached to the wall and party lines! Cant wait to hear how the rendezvous was!

    Great glimpse into Boat Life Reality. Our boat is just used for day trips and occasional getaways, and it’s still a ton of work - can’t imagine the endless list of projects for living aboard AND looping. I’m exhausted just watching you. 😴 💤 🤪

    Lol, thanks for the great info! Now that I know that smell wasn't coming from your boat, I checked a little more carefully here at home. I found a bag of dirty laundry that my housekeeper didn't know about. Geesh, now I am going to have to do that, I guess. Arrrrg...will my workload never decrease? Lol.

    Second question, why doesn’t Elliott add a foot switch at the anchor ?

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Since we have switches at both helms, it wasn't unnecessary to have a switch at the helm. If it was mainly a single-handed boat, we might have rigged something else, but with remotes these days, we'd probably go that route!

    Why don’t y’all run the generator so you can have a/c when it’s really hot?

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sometimes we did, but the generator is loud and costs money. Since we were on a tight budget we typically only ran the generator to top up our batteries!

    • @paulduplantis1491
      @paulduplantis1491 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for taking the time to answer, we love boating but we’re only traveling in our land yacht (motorhome) so we’re always running the generator, we binged watched y’all for several months but now we’re caught up waiting for new episodes every week.

    Enjoyed the video. For sure full time work and doing the Loop is tough! If I ever do the Loop (unlikely at my age) I would choose a boat that can cruise at 15 to 20 knots. Creeping along at 6 or 7 knots means you have to spend 8 hours to make any distance during the day. At 20 knots you can do 100 miles by early afternoon, giving you time to dock by 2:00 PM, go for a walk, explore, wash the boat, do internet and so forth. Your video convinces me I would also probably want a boat with a washer/dryer, although combo units for boats are notoriously slow and inefficient. I hope you enjoyed this portion of the loop even though you did not have time to simply get off the boat and have fun much.

      There are speed limits and no wake zones all over the place, and then there's the price of gas$$ to consider

    • @bbmatthews2002
      @bbmatthews2002 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of Locks and No-wake zones. Plus you get to some rivers and canals, which have more than their share of deadheads (floating logs and hard debris). I did SW Florida to North Carolina in a boat that cruises 28 knots. Was fun. Expensive (thirsty motors!). But fun. But I did both offshore and well-traveled waterways. But look at the leg from the Hudson to Chicago. Hard to do that part fast. When I did it, I burned about $2100 in gas in three days. That was an "owwie".
      Still, got some great pictures and videos. 🙂
