This is it. All the other Panzer IV channels can go home. This series will never be topped. Great questions with even better answers. It's the details. Now I know there's a little step to help the bow gunner get in and out. A result of feedback from testing, I'd guess. Or maybe they thought of it from the design phase. Might seem like an odd thing to focus on, but I love knowing what every little bit is there for.

Thankyou for the kind words. We take pride in going into the real depths most people miss. It is hard work and a lot of editing but worth it. If you enjoy in depth, please also check out our B29 video and Me109.

26:06 translation: „ before aiming the gun undo the lashing“ ( one could lash the gun to the turret during march in order to relieve the load on the gun elevation mechanism)

I write historical fiction for a living. I spent 10 researching one specific geography and one specific unit to bring in as much fact as possible. When dealing with WWII, the last thing you can afford is a blunder, even in fiction. This isn't a forgiving sub-genre because many people know so much about German militaria that if I got something wrong, I would lose my readers. Like a foot-pedal to shoot the main gun, that would seem like an honest mistake, no, it could get rejected from the get-go. With that said, I need videos like this. I want to take my readers inside these tanks, to these actual positions, and help them experience it. The more I know, the more I can convey. About 90% of my work gets edited out, that's just how it goes. It isn't wasted though, because I find all of this stuff so incredibly interesting. When you joked and said "Should we talk about the color of the bolts inside" (talking about the gun traverse that you can't install) I was answering "Yes, please do!" Panzer IV is such a fascinating tank because it evolved so much but had to stay within the original shell (thinking of it as a turtle). You mentioned the counter balance on the gun, and I kept thinking you would touch on the off-set turret design due to earlier models with the short barrel. Maybe you did in a different video. Great stuff, guys, thank you!

Wow! Very impressive. Glad to have you on the channel and supporting us. Randy is a wealth of knowledge on that vehicle. I seem to remember discussing the offset turret, was due to the drive line. I belive it's in the final episode. We are actually rereleasing this series this week. If you enjoy this level of detail and planes, we did the most in depth look ever done into the Memphis Belle B-17 you may enjoy. Thanks for watching! Scott.

A ‘Panzer Rick’ t-shirt needs to happen! (I noticed the pickle rick shirt at around 11:40 ish).
Unfortunately there’s probably copyright issues if you guys made and sold these. But if you do make them, that would be so awesome and hilarious.
Maybe Rick in a black uniform, with a headset, upper body sticking out of the commander’s hatch of a panzer 4, and the entire tank is that green pickle texture.
If this happens I want credit for the idea haha!

Where in the H**l do you find an original gunner's sight? For either the main gun or the bow gun? Holy smokes.... That's absolutely wild he was able to actually source original ones that are obviously serviceable. Original radio gear??? Good God... Don't want to even venture a guess what any of that cost. And as typically German(i.e. over complicated) as the traverse system is, it's actually really neat since it does keep things very simple for the gunner. No farting around with separate controls for either drive. Man, this is really interesting. Getting deep into the minutiae you don't really get anywhere else. Fascinating as all get out. Maybe a little nuts too, but that's ok because you're just not going to find anything like it elsewhere. Just awesome stuff.

Thankyou for the kind words. We take pride in bringing in depth footage no one else does, its hard work. One day of filming, weeks and weeks of editing in our own time. As for where Randy sources equipment, in our last episode in 2 weeks we discuss restoration and how he finds parts. Stay tuned.

Something to add here. It seems there is not much room to operate, but times were harder back then! In the USA a lot of men were rejected as unfit or undersized [4F] because of malnutrition during the Great Depression when they were growing up. It was the same in Europe! Finding Men that would fit in these Tanks wasn't as difficult as it seems now!

Funny seeing a big fat guy extracting himself out of the hatch. Contemporaries were a lot smaller, slimmer, fitter and motivated, so: no problem at all
