This is the next model up in Brother's INKvestment range from the MFC-J1205W/J1215W (I own the J1215W). The display screen + buttons reminds me a lot of the controls from the tabloid-size Brother all-in-one I bought as a refurb back in 2009 -- but that would still be an improvement from the buttons-only interface on the MFC-J1215W. Since I'm comfortable with the INKvestment ink refill process (only 2 refills in 3 years!), I am considering upgrading to either the MFC-J4335DW or the MFC-J4535DW, both of which would apparently take up a similar amount of space on my printer cart (something which might not be the case with an Epson or Canon tank printer).
Wow! This is a great tutorial, really fantastic. Even better than the Brother tutorials, and they're excellent. I have to set mine up tomorrow. I've been procrastinating because setting up printers in the past has been difficult I've developed a phobia.😖 I'll see how it goes I can't believe it's this simple. One of the Brother tutorials says I have to download their software. 😬 Thank you for making this so clear. I used to live in Maine. xo
Your video was a lifesaver. I misinterpreted the direction and tried to just put in the black cartridge and was wondering why it would not progress to the next step. I am not always so dumb. Anyway, thanks so much.
I got stuck temporarily at the part 3:40 where we are suppose to enter our wifi password. I figured the button sequence process out but it would be good to explain that. Also, in the instructions - step 13, it says to connect your computer. Is that necessary to do certain functions or for anything? It would be good to explain that too. Thanks for a helpful video overall. It helped me save time!!
So glad you showed the connecting to WiFi.....looks easy. I had a Canon Prixma one time that took several tries, with downloading "stuff" from internet.
Good review and information. I just bought one of these printers and your review is articulate, to the point, concise without all the stupid rapp music going in the background or endless commercials about your next clip or station. Nice work. I would have mentioned that you don't have to use wi-fi, and can just hard wire it to the computer and never have any speed issues or other problems that wi-fi are known for. Good job.
Am looking at getting this printer soon. However I want the option of buying bottled ink to refill the cartridges. Is this going to be possible ? Nice review of setup.
Can you recommend a printer that works well for a small business? I make thank you cards? And work a lot with card stock. I also print a lot of photos. I use to have the hp deskjet but it wasn’t very good with printer different paper sizes. As well as being very slow. Please help. Thank you
Sorry to say that after my accolades, (see below) None of this is happening on my Brother printer. The little box on the left? Has only the countries. Mine is set to the UK which is just fine for me. No way will I set this to Italy, where I actually am because that is just asking for a bigger world of trouble. Anyway, there are no directions on how to change the country. The instruction to insert the ink never came on. I inserted it anyway according to your directions. Only I didn't shake the black ink cartridge and now I can't get it out to shake it. Tough! I pressed the arrow on the right. Twice. Just like you said. Nothing. That is where I have left it for the moment. Sadly, I have no tranquilizers in the hose. If I did, I would take the all and kiss all tech. Goodbye. I'm already traumatized from years struggling to set up printers. The directions that come with ANY printer are written so poorly, so obfuscated, as to have been written by an alien from as yet unnamed planet. As the years have gone on, the writing has only gotten worse. The Brother directions are, frankly, insane to ponder. I refuse to burn my brain even more than it is now by attempting to translate it into any comprehensible language. I speak five--English, Italian, Spanish, French, and Russian, so it is not my lack of language skills that is keeping me borderline hysterical at the moment. I am now being told via the paper set up instructions that in order to set the date and time I must follow the LCD instructions. I have been through every piece of paper that came with the printer. Nothing is marked LCD, Also, the printer is "sleeping." I wish I were. The set up instructions tell me to press any button on the machine to wake it up. Clearly this printer has sleeping sickness, because no button will wake it up. Maybe it needs coffee. I may dump the entire contents of my breakfast coffee into it. OK, I have once again sorted through, read again, every pice of existing piece of paper that has any information remotely connected to such a thing as INSTRUCTIONS. There is nothing marked LCD. There is no explanation as where to find LCD instructions. There is no explanations as what LCD instructions even are. Every single step in the printed instructions, other than plugging the printer in, loading the ink and putting in the paper, require LCD instructions. I am now going to Brother support. I have no doubt whatsoever that this will turn my already stressful experience in setting up this more than 20 lb printer, will turn my day into an nightmare. I will return. Maybe. 😱😠
well... not a full setup vid > I have a month old Brother 4335 ( Mac mini OS 10.15 ) using (maybe )'Print & Scan' this makes LOUSY color photo prints. - prob. I don't know how but it SHOULD be obvious. I can get settings like DPI for scan But NOT for print. only most basic settings like either fine or normal for print quality..... said sack , fine looks lousy with 60 lb paper. ??
aehm, full setup? Nothing about mobile printing. This installation is a catastrophy. 3 apps are necessary. And if you want print mobile the app opens the play store for the service app (???). No mobile printing is possible using smartphone. What a horror of steps and error messages. My Epson needs only one for all and was installed in 15 minutes.
Thank you so kindly for this video, it is much appreciated!

Just bought one today. Nice video. Great help!
Very happy with printer. Just as advertised.
Thanks man! Just purchased this model yesterday !!!

I did the same thing!
Thanks brother, it worked!! I watched many video but only this worked!! I am very thankful to you!., LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED

How do you hardwire it to your computer? It would be great not to have to use WIFI. Mine goes down about 20x a day.
Thank you. That was quick.
Am looking at getting this printer soon. However I want the option of buying bottled ink to refill the cartridges. Is this going to be possible ? Nice review of setup.
Great video-It would be nice if the associated screens are presented in sequence with the presentation.
what does that mean? What are the associated screens?
Thank You!!! 👍🏽
do you recommend this aio printer?
Can you directly wire the printer to a computer?

U mafe this so easy ! Unlike the brother people
What is replacement ink cost ?
Just bought this printer today and was really excited to see that you had a video on it!
What was the computer set-up process like?
I'm in the middle of that process. A nightmare.
Dude, you forgot how to type in the code for wifi?

The INKvestment is a good investment
this is a downgrade from the previous model MFC-J995DW
