      Good idea with the wheel, i thought about too but unfortunately this pendulum or playground swing works like “mass transfer moving lever” and it cannot work on wheel. But what could work is spinning mass instead of sliding back and forth which would require less input energy.

    Energy is added to the system on every stroke.
    Starting energy is not from zero as the designer pushes it against gravity before starting.
    Therefore the energy multiplication is not as stated.
    Better method for energy transfer is to obtain a watt meter for the motor controller. Then measure speed at dead centre on the bottom of the pendulum movement. Measure total watts over all the strokes until momentum has built up, then measure the speed, o.5 mv2 for kinetic energy output. Now calculate energy multiplication.
    Btw, start it without any push.

      Great point. Btw, Pendulum can start without any push no problem. You can see that on video 1:42 in manual mode. I’m starting from small angle only because microcontroller needs to calculate period and timing in automatic mode. Energy of the system is not accumulated. If it was than you would do many strokes with small weight to get one big stroke of the whole pendulum. You can see that one stroke of a small weight on linear slide equals one stroke of the whole pendulum. Energy of the system comes from mass, not gravity. As we all know, mass is energy and gravity here is just a middle man.

    Nice. But the timing and speed of your moving weight must better.
    Anyway i had the same idea.
    The wondering on a playground with simply pushing the legs back and four move mega Mass.

    At least you should have noticed that the electric slide always travels the same distance, the pendulum amplitude increases (very slowly) with time.
    I let you think a little on how the pendulum can reach such increase of energy and where that energy is coming from.
    Ah, I guess that, by now, you already noticed the futility of having a display of the period of a pendulum IN REAL TIME. Yeah, you could have skip that, don't you think?

    Even as a child, I wondered how I could make the swing go, simply by "pumping" my legs and upper body back and forth.
    Your next step would be to put the entire apparatus on the swing, and have it sense like a four year old can. Then get Boston Dynamics to get their robot to play on a swingset.

      Great idea with Boston Dynamics robot. But it would probably take them like 1 million hours to make a program for it.
      It’s funny how we were all told at school by physics teacher that swing is “pumping”. If you google it now, still all educators and scientists claim that swing is pumping. But it’s NOT, it is a mass transfer like you can see here. Funny thing is when we realize that all educators, intellectuals and scientists were wrong about swing but they are certain about what was happening one nanosecond after Big Bang.

    go to a constraction side where a big cran is operating. Have a good look how they operate the mass. Ask the cran operator why he act like he do and what he never would do. You will go home with same new idees I am sure.

    Once the movement of the weight stops.... it should go backwards only wen the movement of pendulum is reversed. if you do that you have less losses.

      Good point, that’s how I originally started in the beginning but that movement backwards would generated small push on pendulum opposite way and slow down the pendulum. That’s why I had to change timing to what it is right now.

      @@cmss5674 I believe the reason is because and in "theory" the wheight once it starts the movement it must virtualy be from the midle to oposite and versus. the inercia than should cancel itself. from other hand the masses interact each other, and wen the pendulum wen is on steady state momentum, any movement from weight will react. you tried to do fast movement on weight? or progressive like we all do on play swing chairs? NICE WORK

      Yes, good point, I tried it, even rubber bands on moving weight with wheels. It didn’t improve the performance.

      At pendulum equilibrium point, bottom middle. It’s fastest there.
