I can say that you deserve credit for your time and effort. Some pointers though for better results. On your first video, you grinded down the surface, which is really great, but you probably should have grinded down a little bit more. After grinding the surface, you should sweep the surface with a broom, then check for any other loose or weak points, removing those spots as well. Then use a water hose with good pressure to fully spray off further debris, or even a pressure washer, using that carefully. Then use a blower to remove standing water. While the surface is still fairly damp, (not soaked, but surely not dry) then you add your surfacing material, when mixing, you may consider a product that is made, which slows the setting and drying time of "crete" products. And that gives you more working time to smooth out the surface. You should pour a decent amount of "crete" at a time, yet also not too too much, use normal trowels at first obviously, spreading and pressing material into place. Then use a long pole with a wide spread leveling trowel, you can use speed steel krete spreader for Smoothing out the surface at the end. If necessary you can "lightly" wet the surface with more water to assist with smoothing, dont use too much water. Then after all that, you can use the broom at the very end for lined texture. Apply these steps to each pad for a nice uniform look.
Now for the thinner materials chipping, that is harder and more expensive to correct. Best bet is removing the old pad and pouring all new, if that is not an option, your next choice is to rent or buy a large concrete grinder, or finisher with grinding head, to grind down as much as possible, it is better to have grooved or porous surface to bond to. To a less likable yet still doable method, is to rent a jackhammer, or even an air hammer, but that is a slower tool, which may be better, and very carefully remove a decent top layer, then perform all previous steps of grinding, checking, cleaning, filling smoothing. Best of luck you you on your next cement, concrete projects 🙏🙏🙏🙏

    Also
-when moisture gets in between the 2 layers, when the trapped water freezes it expands which cause delamination, and the concrete just pops off.

I watch Mike's vids a lot. He usually just uses portland on driveways.

I remember when you did this, Jeff. I think I was one who mentioned the bonding agent at the time.
Even so, this held up quite well over a year.
The only way to get it perfect is to rip it all out and start over, but, still, it continues to be better than what it was.
Thanks for the update and looking forward to more! :)
    Oh, and, Hi, Luna! :D

Im curious what your winters are like? We have harsh winters most of the time, this last winter was very mild. We have the same issues with our driveway and it needs to be fixed.

Pittsburgh has relentless freeze and thaw cycles. But last year was mild

@@jeffdeshongThank you! We are in Wyoming, so we pretty much have freezing and snow from October to May. We can get snow any month of the year. Great videos and lots of info. Thanks again!

How is this holding up since the last video? I’m about to try this myself.

I don't think you let the bonding stuff dry before putting the concrete cap on. I did a garage floor and it had a bonding product and it had to dry before you started the next step. That could be where the bonding agent had pooled and didn't mix well with the capping concrete. Otherwise I thought you did great.
