Thank you for creating this great ressource of knowledge. Coming from Blender and poly-modelling I mostly used plasticity for tricky booleans and fillets on curved solids and I wasn't able to grasp what surface modelling tools like these are really capable of. What I learned while following your tutorial: - the basic workflow steps curve -> sheet -> solid - how to approach organic hard surface shapes - how to properly use lofting - the use of G0 and G1 - creating guiding curves for lofting - how to approach problems when working with this kind of modelling technique ( this one was extremely important and lead to better undertanding for plasticity) Thank you for providing that knowledge for free.
Oh yes, surface modeling is really really powerful to create complex forms & shapes without the need to think about topology. Keep an eye on my channel and the next videos, I will share more tutorials on surface modeling. And thanks for sharing your learnings as bullet points. Especially the basic workflow curve -> sheet -> solid is exactly the fundamental thing in surface modeling. Enjoy your day
@@nikita.kapustin Yeah, I will follow a few more of your videos and I'm planning to buy your helmet course next month. I think the additional fundamental knowledge you have there will be useful in future. For now I think I can gather enough infos through the free videos and I appreciate you creating them. Did the headphones yesterday and the more I understand the tool the more fun it is to create something.
Nikita, at 14:55 I hear you say: "I didn't do that". But what do you expect when you first put all the points at the right place in the top view and then go move them around freely in the side view? Of course the points are no longer at their spot where they are supposed to be. You can't move them freely anymore. They only can go in the Z-direction because otherwise you change your top view too. I saw it coming from miles away when I saw you edit the positions in the side view. Use a few more control points and never ever change the x or y position after you have set them in the top view.
I see either lack of knowledge about nurbs construction techniques or lack of tools inside program. But already crazy spam-like marketing from every hole. Should I still consider buying gumroad courses taking this quality into account?
I think a lot of people talk about very positively about Plasticity because it's genuinely an amazing, innovative program in the 3D space. I am not sure about your second question but in my Gumroad courses we go much deeper, as we have more time to create complex models with interesting modeling techniques & workflows. So in short, my Gumroad courses have even higher quality than those tutorials on my TH-cam channel. Thanks for considering!
Hi Nikita! I am about to dive in to Plasticity and I am finding all of your teaching materials extremely useful! I would love to learn how to make action figures and desgin, combine ball and socket joints. I would love to hear back from you as I am about to purchase your plasticity package starting from next month! You are really good at what you do I am in awe!
Thanks glad to hear! I don't have experience with specifically action figures. There are also many different styles of them. I teach mostly universally-applicable techniques and workflows in Plasticity that can apply to many different objects.
you can select a continous edge and make a pipe on it, which subtracts from the original surface and then you hace a gap which can be lofted again with tangency. hope it helps
Hey Nikita , thanks for your amazing tutorial . 1 question please . When i try to add the fillet in he edges in 25:34 it gives me hard edges , how to make it more rounded ?? Please help !

Thank you very much for the tutorials. If you don't mind me asking, what is the purpose of extruding a curve and creating a sheet at 17:30, I have seen you do it many times in your tutorials.
To see the results try both variants next to each other on your own and mirror both sheets over. You need tangency in the middle, and at the moment it's only possible with extruding an curve and use it's edge for tangency information. Otherwise you can't select tangency on a curve itself
I follow your tutorial to the letter but when i get to the 14:00 mark when you're talking about the tangency and for whatever reason when i mirror mine.. there doesnt seem to be a correct flow from the mirrored part.. i get an obvious crease between the 2.. my vertecies are all black ( non tangent) yours are purple ( tangent) im breaking my brain 😅
Not sure if it'll definitely work, but in the recently released v1.3, the fillet dialogue box has a "chordal" option, which attempts to keep the same thickness around the edge of the entire fillet. It'll probably help with the top indented areas where the fingers would rest, and the chamfer at the base of the mouse.
@@nikita.kapustin I do like your technique of deriving a curve for the "path" you want to chamfer/fillet, then using the pipe tool on it to get the size of the chamfer you want to make, then bool-cutting that area out of the original geometry, and manually rebridging the opposing edges.
Sure, everyone has their own way of doing it. I am showing you the industry standard, professional ways how 99%-100% of all products are designed in CAD for production. Such shapes are only possible with surface modeling. Especially the more complex it gets.
Hello, thanks for the great tutorial! If you don't mind me asking, how does one enable the calculation supports for the curve sketch? For some reason mine are turned off by default. Thanks.
Because I get a lot of good, positive feedback like yours and those tutorials seem to be truly helpful for people. Also it's good for me as well, as I can practice, become better and learn discipline and push through. Along some other benefits.
I wish you would show how to fix problems when they go wrong rather than saying oh it works now. Work around are really valuable more so than when things just work.
Some people want it one way, other people the other way. The thing is, if I always show the problem-solving parts than all tutorials will be 2-3 times longer. Because they are always encountered. So I try to keep a balance on my TH-cam channel. If you want the full process, you can always find them in my premium courses, where we have much more time do go deeper into problem solving
OK, we have seen that Plasticity is more than capable to deal with small objects, but I would love to see a serious and complex tutorial (a realistic car, a motorbike, a detailed building). Until then, I'll stick to Rhino and Blender.
this software isthe best,it is much easier thansolidworks, catia, creo and ug,maybe I can combine then .I can import models to professional mechanical 3d systems.savintage much time and learning time.because time is money
Having watched tones of hours of Arrimus apathetic style of tutorials of MAX and Blender now I get this overenthusiastic Plasticity guy hehe. Good work there:) I presume you are from Germany and me being from PL hearing that SS for scale kinda sucks. Double S should be better :>
Fantastic content. I was ready to pull the trigger, but Plasticity looks to be very unpredictable/unreliable. It would drive me insane for things to work or fail in a seemingly random manner.
IMO, this is the ideal tutorial to start learning surface modelling. I found extremely useful. It is what it say on the tin, its for BEGIINNERS !! Many Thanks, keep it up :)

excellent workflow Nikita! process tip for all: be sure to hit "4" when attempting to Join sheets. you can't join sheets if in "3" mode.

Sometimes chordal works well, most of the time on complex surfaces one has to do fillets manually for best results.

From one end to the other.
Everyone has their own way of doing things. I think starting with a solid and then applying forming techniques would make better use of plasticity.

What is that annotation tool you use to draw purple lines at 3.30?
Thanks!
Glad you like it!
It's called Epic Pen
Thank you for replying
thanks for the tutorial...the easyest way ( at least for me) to chanfer or fillet the edges was to delete the internal faces and add thickness again.
Thank you very much!
