  • Not every trip is goes as planned. Not every trip is a totally awesome experience. In these next three videos I attempt to walk the Ruby Crest Trail as an end to end out and back (70-80 miles depending on who you ask).
    Things don’t go as planned.

There's never a fail.. you always learn something on a trip.. sometimes about the trail, and sometimes, about yourself. Always good to make the smart choice, the trail will be there next time.

I agree. Even the hardest trips have a lesson to teach. As long you get home safe, you did Ok!

Thank you for showing the hard part of backpacking. I have certainly has trips that quickly became type 2 or even type 3 fun. And it can be discouraging when things aren’t going right. But that is just the nature of backpacking. So many channels only so show the happy fun and makes people think they are doing something wrong when their hike doesn’t go the same. It’s important to listen to ourselves and our bodies. Great job!

I think it’s important, especially for new hikers, to see that things can go bad. It’s OK to bail on a hike. It’s OK if you feel tired, or just off. I try to be honest in all my videos. Even it means showing myself ready to quit.

@@LostAgainwithJim I try to do the same. I have something I call the “magazine test”. If I am in a situation that I think to myself, I have read this magazine article and it doesn’t go well, I head back down.

I love that. Me and my hiking buddy always say “The juice ain’t worth the squeeze”. Same idea haha.
