As some folks have mentioned and explained better than I can in other comments, I will only say keep in mind when watching ‘dance practices’, it will not always correspond to a music video. The practice could be for a concert, a talk show, award show. There will be differences. So it’s cool that you watch more than the MVs, get a different perspective. One thing I love is you never get the exact same performance twice. Different award shows & TV shows, concerts will have something new or different. You have to watch or miss something special. Worth your time and the ticket w/o the need of opening acts. They are the attraction & main event.

Energy. I can explain the difference between dance practice and the final MV. The final MV was filmed outside in California in very hot weather. And they were wearing all leather. And sweating! And it took 2 days to film. That will drain every electrolyte in your body. If you watch behind the scenes you will see them sweat and take breaks and naps to recover. They're on set at the crack of dawn. And redo of hair and makeup for every shot. How many takes does it take to do an MV? You should know....many many takes. And each time they do a take they have to dance full out giving 110% each time. Delays in lighting, camera adjustments, drones, costumes, eating and drinking, and healing injuries is time consuming and draining! So you don't see the same energy as the dance practices which are inside. Air conditioned. No camera resets. Just on one angle. No costumes. No hair and makeup adjustments. So you are right. The energy displayed in a dance practice is more! But that's why.
The one dancing and spinning with the camera is Jhope. He is the main dancer of the group, so he is going to shine. You have four that are the dance line, but all have gotten better over the years. Suga was missing here because he had shoulder surgery. In 2012 he was hit by a car, but he never said anything not even to his members because he was scared that he was going to get kicked out of the group. So, all these years he was in pain and performing.

Wow rude much. Yes some may be or have a different dance level but during their dancing they pretty much are since that's what they trained hours a day for to be perfectly in sync with one another. But maybe not perfect to the most part but during group dance yes pretty much the same. Otherwise they wouldn't be in sync would they but if you wanna get 100 not one person is exactly the same at anything.
So, you guys would have preferred for me to say that Jhope and Jimin are the best dancers, which is a hat I really think. However, I feel like that's more rude. This is a practice for a live performance (an end of year award show). My point is that people love the music videos and the live performances and the dance practices and they are all made available for us. Kpop fans are spoiled.
You'll soon discover, some songs don't have music videos but have dance videos and some music videos don't have dances in them but have dance practices. They have a lot, and you can even find some of the unedited or goofy dance practices where their personalities shine through. This was a practice for their MAMA2020 live performance that’s why it is different from the music video. It has a full band and they added a dance breakdown solos. There’s also another dance practice video for their music video. They give us a lot of content behind the scenes, and we love it. The Kinetic Manifesto was an initial conception of what a performance might look like ahead of their 2020 tour which unfortunately got cancelled due to Covid. There actually is a very creative music video that was released shortly after the Kinetic Manifesto which allegorically captures the meaning of the song from the perspective of the Jungian psychology which was a vital part of the Map of the Soul album's theme. This was a practice for the 2020 MAMA awards performance and sadly Suga could not participate as he was recovering from shoulder surgery.

Oh. You guys are interesting. Thank you for appreciating the boys. My suggestion- if you like dance more, please go in the following order. 1. MV + lyrics (the dance steps are somewhat mirrors of the lyrics) somewhat 2. performance (the final live version for stage). However the boys will always have some elements changed everytime they perform a song. 3. Dance practice - it is the clean version fully focused only on the moves and camera movement.

So this is a dance practice video for an award show performance. In K-pop the dance practices are released so the fans could see and learn the dance moves, there is a whole subculture of fans who to cover videos of the performances. But these videos serve another purpose, it's so the show directors see the performance to help them with their camera blocking, or which group member should be taking the focus at any particular part. BTS performed this at the 2020 mNet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), and they performed it at a soccer stadium. As far as I know, marching bands and cheer leaders aren't a thing outside the US, so it was really cool to see how everything was used to fit the epicness of this song. Out of all performers BTS and their stage production crew are always elevating the standard. The only thing I don't like about this song is that Suga wasn't able to perform with the group, because he was in recovery after shoulder surgery. His solo part did feel empty.
Other kpop idols said BTS really increase the expectation n standard when its come to korean award shows. So when BTS first one that popularize the use of hundreds of backup dancers, after that alot of kpop groups follow too. They also popularize elaborate performance n stage set. Alot of kpop groups really look up for BTS performances. They are legends.

Dance Practice can be for a MV or a special performance, which in this case was for a performance. Of course every stage or venue is different, so they will often adjust for that and/or change up some things to keep it fresh and exciting. I think you should consider taking a look at behind the scenes for their MVs, as I think you would enjoy them as well.
A lot of ARMYs already in your comments telling you what’s up, but I just wanted to add on that the music industry in South Korea has what’s called the end of year performance shows. That’s where groups and soloists are able to show off different versions of the songs they released that year, maybe have collab stages, and if it’s an award show they might take home a trophy. There are a few other end of year award and performance shows, but these are the big ones: •Melon Music Awards aka MMA •Mnet Asian Music Awards aka MAMA •Golden Disc Awards aka GDA They have two levels of awards they give out at these award shows: Bonsang (Main Prize, multiple winners in category) and Daesang (Grand Prize and most coveted). Then we have end of year song festivals like SBS Gayo Daejeon that groups/soloists participate in, but no awards are involved. This is supposed to just be fun for the audience and people back home. If you see multiple performances or dance practices of the same song title, you might be seeing the MAMA version, MMA version, GDA version, or Gayo Daejeon version and they’re likely WAAAAAAY different from one another. I’m talking the song arrangement, choreo, staging, props, outfits, pyrotechnics, and camera angles could all be different from one end of year performance to the next. It gives these groups/soloists a chance to show their versatility (and maybe in BTS’ case how heavy their bag is and how dominant on stage they are). That’s why the performance you just watched looked nothing like the ON: Kinetic Manifesto version of the music video. This dance practice is part of an overall larger performance for the 2020 MAMAs. And I haven’t even told y’all about the promotional music show stages these K-pop acts do when they first release new music and how they’re all different too (but not to the bigger degree that end of year performances are). Hope this all made sense!

This is not the actual ON dance practice actually. This dance practice was especially used for their end-year performance, so it's lil bit different from the original & from you guys saw on their actual MV. But regardless, this performance was just chef kiss. They killed this.

You'll soon discover, some songs don't have music videos but have dance videos and some music videos don't have dances in them but have dance practices. They have a lot, and you can even find some of the unedited or goofy dance practices where their personalities shine through. The bit you commented about not seeing in the video is because it's an extended dance break specifically done for the MAMA awards which this is the dance practice for. You should watch the performances from that show cos they were out of this world as well as the MMA 2020 awards show performances.

Suga is missing but you hear his voice and they leave a space for him. He was out for 3 months to get overdue shoulder surgery at the end of 2020 so he didn’t appear in a lot of the end of year award show performances like this one. The actual performance was filmed in a stadium with no audience due to 2020 c0v!d.
This was a practice for their MAMA2020 live performance that’s why it is different from the music video. It has a full band and they added a dance breakdown solos. There’s also another dance practice video for their music video. They give us a lot of content behind the scenes, and we love it.

The Kinetic Manifesto was an initial conception of what a performance might look like ahead of their 2020 tour which unfortunately got cancelled due to Covid. There actually is a very creative music video that was released shortly after the Kinetic Manifesto which allegorically captures the meaning of the song from the perspective of the Jungian psychology which was a vital part of the Map of the Soul album's theme. This was a practice for the 2020 MAMA awards performance and sadly Suga could not participate as he was recovering from shoulder surgery.
This dance practice was crazy! BTS' performances are always so good and they have a lot of legendary performances in award shows. 🔥

this dance practice was for their MMA 2020 performance and that is why there are differences in the choreography (and camera angles) compared to the one in the music video. There is actually a dance practice with the original choregraphy.

My suggestion- if you like dance more, please go in the following order.
1. MV + lyrics (the dance steps are somewhat mirrors of the lyrics) somewhat
2. performance (the final live version for stage). However the boys will always have some elements changed everytime they perform a song.
3. Dance practice - it is the clean version fully focused only on the moves and camera movement.

So this is a dance practice video for an award show performance. In K-pop the dance practices are released so the fans could see and learn the dance moves, there is a whole subculture of fans who to cover videos of the performances. But these videos serve another purpose, it's so the show directors see the performance to help them with their camera blocking, or which group member should be taking the focus at any particular part.
BTS performed this at the 2020 mNet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), and they performed it at a soccer stadium. As far as I know, marching bands and cheer leaders aren't a thing outside the US, so it was really cool to see how everything was used to fit the epicness of this song.
Out of all performers BTS and their stage production crew are always elevating the standard.
The only thing I don't like about this song is that Suga wasn't able to perform with the group, because he was in recovery after shoulder surgery. His solo part did feel empty.
Other kpop idols said BTS really increase the expectation n standard when its come to korean award shows. So when BTS first one that popularize the use of hundreds of backup dancers, after that alot of kpop groups follow too. They also popularize elaborate performance n stage set. Alot of kpop groups really look up for BTS performances. They are legends.

This was a special arrangement for an award show. U did not notice but they added extra stuff to the choreo. The MV had parts of this choreo but they are not the same. They make the choreo harder every award stage. I hope u watch the live of this during the award show. They so cool. I loved this practice. They always add extra harder choreo for special stages like this. Glad u liked it too. Suga might have been gone do to his shoulder rehab. Them leaving a space for him makes me mush every time. Aww. Fun fact; before BTS no one was really using so many backup dancers during stages. But after BTS and their amazing stages all the other groups started to use more backup dancers. Dance Practice can be for a MV or a special performance, which in this case was for a performance. Of course every stage or venue is different, so they will often adjust for that and/or change up some things to keep it fresh and exciting. I think you should consider taking a look at behind the scenes for their MVs, as I think you would enjoy them as well.

A lot of ARMYs already in your comments telling you what’s up, but I just wanted to add on that the music industry in South Korea has what’s called the end of year performance shows. That’s where groups and soloists are able to show off different versions of the songs they released that year, maybe have collab stages, and if it’s an award show they might take home a trophy. There are a few other end of year award and performance shows, but these are the big ones:
•Melon Music Awards aka MMA
•Mnet Asian Music Awards aka MAMA
•Golden Disc Awards aka GDA
They have two levels of awards they give out at these award shows: Bonsang (Main Prize, multiple winners in category) and Daesang (Grand Prize and most coveted).
Then we have end of year song festivals like SBS Gayo Daejeon that groups/soloists participate in, but no awards are involved. This is supposed to just be fun for the audience and people back home.
If you see multiple performances or dance practices of the same song title, you might be seeing the MAMA version, MMA version, GDA version, or Gayo Daejeon version and they’re likely WAAAAAAY different from one another. I’m talking the song arrangement, choreo, staging, props, outfits, pyrotechnics, and camera angles could all be different from one end of year performance to the next. It gives these groups/soloists a chance to show their versatility (and maybe in BTS’ case how heavy their bag is and how dominant on stage they are). That’s why the performance you just watched looked nothing like the ON: Kinetic Manifesto version of the music video. This dance practice is part of an overall larger performance for the 2020 MAMAs.
And I haven’t even told y’all about the promotional music show stages these K-pop acts do when they first release new music and how they’re all different too (but not to the bigger degree that end of year performances are).

The Kinetic manifesto was not actually the MV. It was something they filmed in LA as a special performance. The dance practice for the regular performance doesn’t include the band. It includes the people in the kinetic manifesto.
they always do that transition lining when they want to reveal a member since their debut song.. they're always smooth with their transitions, they almost seem like there's no need to edit

Also to see BTS group dynamic I recommend "RUN BTS" live at Busan concert(or dance practice) and BORN SINGER, an adaptation of J-Cole's Born Sinner. They wrote it during their debut year 2013 on SoundCloud but J-Cole gave them persmission to release it officially for their 2022 anthology album before they go to the military!!!

This was a very special song for BTS and they prepared this performance for the Map of the Soul worldwide concert, it was supposed to be amazing BUT Covid changed everything and they had to cancel the concerts. You should watch the performance at Grand Central they did. It’s awesome!
