Is it worth paying extra for the vanatoo transparent zero plus over the kanto Ora for pc gaming?
Already have the Kanto YU2's, predecessor to the ORA, which are adequate for desktop use but need a sub to balance their sound. Waiting for that Vanatoo T-One Encore Plus Klipper testing.
I thought I had seen a review where someone had commented that the Encore Plus has an internal high pass filter much like the ORA. Lacking this is not a deal breaker as these are for use in a small room and seldom would get played really loud.
Joe, have you listened to Fast Cars yet with the ORA's attached to a subwoofer and noted if the automatic HPF made a difference with her voice "warble"?
I'm sure it will help. I haven't tried it yet. They're already very good in most cases. I've had the YU4 and YU6 before, and I like the tonal balance of these the most.

I’m surprised that the risk of your amp blowing (and thus rendering your speakers useless) is not addressed here. I own a pair of dead TO Encores that died after 3 years and 5 months. The vendor refused any discount on replacement or toward purchase of an upgrade. The only solution they offered was to sell me a new amp with DIY instructions for $125. Unfortunately, they could not guarantee that the new amp would last any longer than the first one. I elected to go back to passives.
Vanatoo said to me that “when the amp in these does, you’re out of luck.” I consider it a $650 lesson to learn that active speakers are not yet ready for prime time. Perhaps other active speaker manufacturers offer a more durable product or sufficient warranty?
Really, less than 4 years?? What a waste of money! It was the T1 or the T1+??
