At some point however , one of the two dies ( probably from an overdose ) and the other goes insane searching for them , eventually they start to think that they are together , falling together , but they are both dead .

Instead, I'm more inclined to believe the narrator (who I'll call Miku, for convenience) viewed her lover as the sole cure for all her problems, seeing him through a rainbow-tinted looking glass, if you will. She thus builds her entire life around that distorted notion, hence her "dream", but is actually codependent, and her relationship is dysfunctional and unsatisfactory (which of course it is on its unhealthy premises). Miku spends her whole life in this relationship trying to figure out why her idea of a complete life - i.e. the missing puzzle piece for which she's looking - is elusive and not working, and she still feels empty and worthless despite utterly melting into it. In the end, both she and her lover die feeling unsatisfied and unfulfilled, sharing in this real lonely "nightmare" in the end. Of course, this is my personal speculation. There are background implications of sedation, but, again, I think that's connected to Miku's unhealthy dreamscape of love rather than drug use. As the song seems rather cryptic and attuned to specific Japanese cultural symbolism I don't know/understand, I'm more than likely wrong about everything, though.

And I think I like yours more than mine , it fits very well with the concept of the song , the reason why I think drugs are involved is because of the start , mostly ( and many things in the song that reminded me of the dreamy state people usually relate to while being high ) when they say that they died looking for something , I connected it with drugs because I putted the events of the song backwards ( start in the end , end in the start ) of my theory , but yours fits better in that sense , Miku , perhaps , died inside either before meeting their loved one , or died inside after loosing them , and then she dies literally Thanks for sharing your theory , I really liked it
My theory is a little half baked since I'm not good at formulating them, but I always imagined the narrator as a child based on how they described things, and even the fairytale references they make. I think the narrator either has an imaginary friend (based on the 'we met when I drew you in a dream' part) or someone who was also suffering the safe thing as her (this is just my take but because she describes it as a nightmare and also mentions a witch in the beginning I think they are suffering something related to abuse). Something happens to the other person, likely death, and she searches for them until she dies (or she searches for them when she dies, since she says 'In the dream we're falling forever in, I'll always search for you') I think that when she mentions dreams and stars she's referring to near death experiences, or a limbo of sorts, so she and her friend are near death and in limbo.
I think this song might be connected with some other songs such as hole dwelling (which is how the two people in the songs were connected) a happy death (which is how one of them died) and let’s go to heaven (which is the other one dying and them meeting each other once they’re both dead) this song is most likely the remaining one going crazy looking for the other one.
I completely agree with this one... and someone else said there way have been a connection between this and "hole dwelling" which is most definitely about falling into drug addiction, the other person said the relationship was dysfunctional and stuff, which only fits BETTER into this drug theory, as the drugs being what they ran to in hopes of enjoying something together again
