would you be able to tell me where you got the sheet music for the whiplash version, I would like to have out school band play it, please and thank-you.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. My drum teacher was the one who got the sheet music for me so I dont know specifically where/what website it is from. However, the Arranger of this version is John Wasson. Maybe you can try to find the sheet music on websites like "Musicnotes" or smt. Hope this helps :)
Hey I'd love to get my hands on the copy of the mixed audio you recorded. I've still got this TH-cam audio as part of my daily inspirational listening tunes regardless 🤔 but if there's higher quality audio of this, hook me up please, yo! 😂
This is one of my favorite songs . And I hate to criticize as a drummer, but I feel like "Double time swing", should not just be quarter notes on the ride. The push pull technique helps me out on the fast swing. And around 4:18, the little drum fills really slowed down the song. I say try to focus more on just snare stuff then trying to be fancy with the little across the kit stuff, like how the movie version is. But other then that, this was a pretty good video to watch ! Good job guys
I love how everyone wants to feel like Fletcher from the movie criticizing the drummer. They wouldn't know jazz even if Jo Jones almost decapitated them with a cymbal. To me it was a good rendition of the song, not the best rendition of whiplash BY FAR, but still pretty good. The drummer needs to polish the intro. 7/10
His problems weren't in the intro or main songo, that was the best part, it was his lack of code 1 fills which are a jazz staple and used very heavily in the ost
Lewis Jones Idk what jazz you're listening to, but swing, shuffle, fusion, and many other styles include a lot of bass. The reason you might not here it is because its low register.
It sounds decent. There is a lot of mistakes and the drummer incorporates little to no fills from the actual OST. No rudiments, no strokes rolls whatsoever... He plays a lot of rock breaks instead of jazz fills.
Carlos La Rosa if being honest this song isn’t ThAT harder, I prefer it a tad bit faster, only thing that sounds wrong in the kit is the bass drum, too much of a rock sound
Graham Johnson if you haven’t seen whiplash at the end when he does the drum solo it’s very hard, the guy hands bled a lot and still went on, it’s a pain but if you keep trying u will get used to it
Where’s the passion man? Not very jazzy at all, I appreciate this piece is meant to be kept in very good time and is leaning more towards orchestral but I see a guy reading sheet music
Whenever I had to do recordings on the drums for my GCSE's I was always very locked up to make sure I didnt mess up if I was 100% sure on the song so that's probably why he might not be as loose as when hes not being recorded and graded.
They're in a studio so it's okay that they have sheet music, even for jazz live performances it's okay to have sheet music for all the ques. Jazz may seem like it's from the soul but jazz can be very strict which is why there may not be much passion.

Sounds like a challenge to me
Damn that sax tore up that solo! Amazing work on the drums! Awesome cover!
EPLS Thanks, this band is amazing. I was very lucky to have the privilege to jam with them for one session
What an outstanding show of musicianship all in one room.
I'm not joking, in the beginning someone was really out of tempo
the trombone
Calvin Nest he is soooo early!
Steven Cortez oh shit. I forgot this was whiplash! I'm so sorry. U hope you and he rest of the comments section can forgive me
Steven Cortez it's all good. I am quite the chair dodging ninja
Yup
This is incredible!! Props to the whole band!!!
Not my tempo
Matthew Woodward insert one tempo slap here xD
Shut the fuck up
You do know he was merely quoting a line from the movie, in a joking manner.. riight?
Not *quite* my tempo
jajajjajaja xD
Ah this really bugs me, we have an out of tune player here.
someone throw a chair!
Someone throw a tempo slap xD
SASKENCIO CARPIO I bet it was Hot Fudge
are you sure? i think there was a bug in your ear
GstroysLab It's a reference to the Whiplash movie.
Yo the saxman is out of control! Cant control the sax man. Well done men.
Would love to hear the mastered audio! This is fantastic
Right? all that equipment and not a proper audio track? or is it for sale or wth?

Loved it, well done! So talented!

Why is it only a “drum cover” if there are all the other live instruments in a jazz band?
Ryan Kish I imagine because the movie the piece of from focuses almost exclusively on the drummer.
This is racism at it's fullest
@@mondzhang wtf?
@@mondzhang do you even know what racism is?
WeevilVlogger r/wooosh
Best cover i've seen
The clean fills and nice snare make up for the absolute lack of ghost notes

There is so many people hating in the comments when I’m stuck here trying to figure out what a samba is 😂

7/10
Jo Jones threw the cymbal to the floor, not try to decapitate Parker, so you don't really know your jazz either.
His problems weren't in the intro or main songo, that was the best part, it was his lack of code 1 fills which are a jazz staple and used very heavily in the ost
Omg it’s so wonderful!!!! CONGRATULATIONS 🎊🍾🎉
Very cool effort. Keep it up!
So awesome !!
Very good ,but i miss the ghost notes in snare drum...
FANTASTIC!
Great! Keep it up!
damn that kick sounds nice
สุดยอดมากๆครับ เหมือนในหนังเลย
He forgot the ghost notes
More ghost notes, buddy
Felt the same mate
matthew terakita true
jep
Yup
The snare needs to be tighter for ghost notes to become obvious. Also he was really off tempo so that might be another reason.
Awesome job guys!! :)
Love this
well done. i love!
No attempt at all to even emulate the absolute precision this song takes for a drummer
Wow awesome. I wish i could use this for my videos
Came for a drum cover, I left feeling like I was listening to trap music with all that bass
Different that's the bass part from the song 😂
Different you heard any jazz? Theres always a lot of bass.
Mason Hunn not really, for many jazz songs you can hardly hear it
Lewis Jones Idk what jazz you're listening to, but swing, shuffle, fusion, and many other styles include a lot of bass. The reason you might not here it is because its low register.
Caleb what sort of issues do you guys have in your life to make you want to be an ass on the internet to others
Good job mates!! Very very good job!! Well done!!!
I love it
Very cool cover!!!

David Cord can you play better than him?
bigtime music yeah David Cord is renowned drummer. He’s cracked on the sticks.
*how is no one talking about that vibin piano dude*
Ain't nothin without them ghost notes
the way he times those crashes with kick drums makes me very moist
This is awesome
Fantastico
Very nice sax solo!!!!
Very good son i will try to do the same
Double time swing is fun
pretty cool ensemble!
Awesome
Everyone is talking about the quality of the players. I just wanna hear more bass!
And cowbell!
RVL3X why cowbell? 😂😂😂
Saibot 09 it’s a meme
That drummer is constantly losing his tempo and rhythm
not quite my tempo
Yeah I know that but tbh it is a very hard song man and it’s even harder playing live with the whole band.
Carlos La Rosa if being honest this song isn’t ThAT harder, I prefer it a tad bit faster, only thing that sounds wrong in the kit is the bass drum, too much of a rock sound
Gabriel Guzman fair criticism tbh, I can’t play that song yet so to me it’s still quite impressive
@@AvocadoHD1 you'll get there bro keep practicing
Yow that's awesome
Not my tempo >:((
nicely played!
Brillant!
where is the drum s solo0.0
That was pretty cool
very very straight forward but played good
Rushing?? :) great band bro! ! Amazing
ที่ห้อง The Soeul ใช่ไหมครับนั่น
His right foot is too heavy on the bass. It’s very distracting and doesn’t fit with the style.
It's just the crappy camera microphone.
the only problem of this whole thing was the drums noah idk what your talking about, for the solo it was only shitty metalcore fills
A batera poderia ter feito uma introdução.... Show
0 fucking ghost notes. It really felt like there was almost a whole voice missing
that was pretty good not gonna lie
very cool, guys!!!
Are you a rusher or are you a dragger or are u be on my fucking time?
He's a rusher
do you guys no where i could find the sheet music to this piece?
Saxaphonist fuckin ripped on that solo holy shit

i like how most of y'all have your guys toes out lol
Why so much hate? Can no one see the musical talent here? Just listen and if u have anything bad to say then just don’t say it. Criticism is ok.

Harry Coleman Sorry, I don't have the sheet with me anymore, I returned them back to my drum teacher 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Finley Thitaparun who is yor drum teacher may you ask him to send me a PDF of it email ebbass1994@gmail.com thanks
He is actually out of tempo...
Where you rushing or dragging??
"not quite my tempo!"
10/10
Is the drum part hard ? The foot especially ?
Graham Johnson if you haven’t seen whiplash at the end when he does the drum solo it’s very hard, the guy hands bled a lot and still went on, it’s a pain but if you keep trying u will get used to it
are you rushing or dragging
wheredrumssolo?
Are you rushing or dragging?
you are gods ...
But I have to ask you... are you inclined to believe that you were speeding up the musical tempo or slowing down the tempo of the song?
if I played this for school, would it be worth a band 6?
すげぇ
Where do you find the score?
This is a nice simplified version of the song on drums...you were rushing at bit at the start though. :)
This is good shit
Rushing or dragging?
why did he count himself in
muito bom
Needs more ghost notes
This cover screams “matched grip”
Is this bebop?
Where’s the passion man? Not very jazzy at all, I appreciate this piece is meant to be kept in very good time and is leaning more towards orchestral but I see a guy reading sheet music

i thought they were supposed to read sheet, like in the movie as well?
Theo O'Shaughnessy jazz big bands always read the charts while playing.
They're in a studio so it's okay that they have sheet music, even for jazz live performances it's okay to have sheet music for all the ques. Jazz may seem like it's from the soul but jazz can be very strict which is why there may not be much passion.
Caleb I see what you mean. Sort of like a computer, just playing what's written with no interest or his own flare.
