Auto da Compadecida is in my humbled opinion a little bit better. You laugh, and scream, than you swear and explode in tears, turn back laughing and crying till the end. But… was just my reaction
lisbela and auto da compadecida both are showing the northeast culture, the dialect and accent are very particular from the area so indeed it's really hard to understand without proper subtles
Many people giving suggestions on what you should watch but I just want to thank you for giving so much value to our works that are often not valued by the Brazilian people themselves :( Seriously, I really enjoy watching your videos, you're doing a great job :D I hope your channel grows more and more!!
Do you know I like better in this channel? For a very long time I haven’t see each other getting back together without using a flag yellow, blue, green or red now it’s white! Not kidding. Not even using portuguese like in a neutral zone we put the war of politics behind to inspire old memories when we watched these movies.
Random funny trivia: •The actor who plays as the villain is most known for playing a sweet exemplary family father at the longest brazilian family sitcom •The actor who plays Cape Citonho (the weird policeman) is most known for dubbing the giant sloth from Ice Age franchise in brazilian portuguese. •the actor who plays Leleu, the prisoner, started his carreer as child actor dubbing Charlie Brown and, nowadays is one of most famous independent filmmakers in Brazil. He always directs comedic dramas. •The zeppelin event was real. It happened as part of Nazi Germany attempt to estabilish a Nazi Party in Brazil. At that time, it had two main cells, one in south, because of high german and italian immigrats population and the other in Northeast, thanks to it's strategical geography and historical secession feeling. For some reason people still reminds this event with nostalgia, but ommiting the Nazism part. •All these film's songs were recorded by previously famous artists exclusively for it's soundtrack. In Brazil the most famous certainly is Cartano Veloso (a psychedelic "most intelectual" singer from the 60's) singing a cover for Você Não Me Ensinou a Te Esquecer , a brega (late popular songs from early 70's inspired by 40's to 60's choros and 50's american and britosh rock when it was no more a popular thing in Brazil), but, my favourite, and, probably the most worldly famous is the thrash metal band Sepultura playing a cover for A Dança das Borboletas, as the main villain's theme, featuring it's original interpeter, Zé Ramalho, a Folk-Rock singer known for a more Bobdylean style mixed to northeastern fantastic imagery, what combined to the images of the killer, gives him dark magical realism vibes
2:58 Here he speaks "it ends the worst of them, which is the pain of being 'corno' (romantically cheated)". Notice the phrase right below the car window, where's written "there's a 'corno' watching me". The subs unfortunately did'nt get this one well.
Definetly my fav Br movie. (Yes, this movies had a VERY BAD distribution unfortunately, which probably explains the lack of good subtitles) When Lisbela's father bids farewell he actually says: "Be happy, IF you can..." I love this sentence, because its a movie with a dream x reality theme. Try "Bicho de Sete Cabeças" maybe
this movie is based on a book written and placed in the city i live in, Vitória de Santo Antão, Pernambuco state. My grandpa used to live in that street with the church. I´m very proud of the movie, gives me a huge sense of identity, being able to recognize the exact locations being portraied is genuinely so cool. The book´s author, Osman Lins, has a bunch of homages to his name in the city. Thank you for the amazing reaction
A Menina Que Matou os Pais (The Girl Who Killed Her Parents) is a movie based on a real story about one of the most shocking crimes in Brazil. You'll probably gonna like it. And thank you for your reactions on our amazing movies 😊 PS: I don't know if you'd react to series but "Good Morning, Veronica" (Netflix) is also incredible!

Can't believe you're actually watching so many Brazilian movies. ❤ I'm sad that it's probably so hard to find Basic Sanitation with English subtitles too. :(
"Corno" is the person that has been cheated in a romantic relationship. It's completely different from "cheated" because this word presumes that the cheated is a victim. On the other hand, "corno" is a curse word and when is true (I mean, when the person was ACTUALLY cheated), the cursing is even worse. The idea is that the "corno" is a weak person, someone who doesn't know how to please a woman. Of course this is nonsense, but is a very strong cultural trace. . Edit: thank you so much for spend your time with our culture! I hope you enjoy your travel through Brazilian movies. ❤
I think Lisbela was technically a minor, because before 2002 you had to be 21 to be considered a full adult here. You could do most things at 18, but for a few things/contracts you needed a parent or guardian to co-sign with you before you turned 21.
