I am a retired chemistry teacher and I collected those popcorn poppers to use in my classroom. The experiment had the kids modify the corn prior to popping it. (Ex: Soaking in water or Kool aid, baking it ahead of time in the oven, or whatever data they wanted to try.) We would have eight or nine of them going at one time and often blew the circuit for my room! The janitor was always warned when it was popcorn week!
