Chopping a Hole in the '65 Continental Hood for the 7.3L Intake! - Godzilla Swapped Lincoln

- The 7.3L Godzilla swapped Lincoln Continental is getting some MAJOR cosmetic surgery this week. After we finish off our custom intake piping with all of our Vibrant Performance bends and clamps, it's time to figure out how to get it all to fit under the hood.
Well.... it's not.... Especially not with our Holley intake manifold. So instead of figuring out how to get it UNDER the hood, why not just find a way to get it to pop OUT of the hood? Right?!
So we're breaking out the angle grinder and getting to cutting up our 1965 Continental hood to get the perfect profile to hug the contours of our intake!
What do you think of our final piece of front end fabrication? Let us know in the comments! And make sure to like and subscribe to see what other crazy additions we're adding to this Godzilla powered Lincoln! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Mikey is stepping up his game with the metal work and fabrication! love to see it!
Thanks for all the support!
What an unusual build. It’s definitely different, though. Top notch work.
Once you realized you had to cut the hood I think ITB's were the move.
I agree 100% !
I WOULD NOT want to cut a hole in a hood, especially a customer's hood, but Mikey really pulled it off (never doubted him for a second)!
It was definitely stressful making the first cut!
I love all your work, but I was wondering why you guys didn't make the air tube a tee and go out Left & Right more air and a uniform look. ????
Damn Mikey, that finished hood opening looks amazing! Sir, you are a true master of sheet metal. Please keep up the amazing work and even better videos. Respect my brother! Im just a fan from Palm Beach named Mike :D
Awesome! Hopefully we'll see you out a show soon. You're just a few exits north of us!
You guys do great work. Most underrated shop.
Keep doing what you do.
Stay away from those bullshit auctions, they hurt the soul.
Thank you! And we'll definitely take that advice lol No more auctions for us!
Nice fitment! 👍
If the owner is planning on taking it to car shows. You may want to consider adding a beauty panel on the inside of the hood to cover all the supports. That thing is massive and very visible when open. It would really make the entire inside of the engine compartment pop like a jewelry box. 👍
That's a good idea! We'd probably have to do something light like a mesh to make sure the paneling on the inside doesn't start pulling down on the upper part of the hood it's supposed to be supporting!
@@SalvagetoSavage Mesh would be great !
Great job.
Thank you! Cheers!
Crazy hood!
One more masterpiece for my favorite Continental!
Absolutely insane!!! You guys a turning out some amazing fab work!!!!
looking sick as always guys! Outstanding work!
looks awesome, you guys are killin it on this build
I guess there is no going back now. The hood is cut out. It looks good though. I am clinching my fists with the air filter being next to the wheel like that. Good job boys 🤙🤙🤙
That's what we said when we made our first cut! lol It wouldn't be too hard to box it in on the back end to keep that dust and dirt off of it. Or even easier, put a little dust/water sock on the filter!
good job man 👍💪
Thanks!
Looking good 👍 💯❤️🔥
Thank you! Cheers!
Turning the throttle body 180, the cable from the bottom and the IAC valve is more hidden
The intake piping looks prime for some gun bluing
Looking better every video!
Thanks!
Great job, Mike, awesome entertainment while one the chair for treatment, just 4 more over another 8 weeks.
You perk me up with this video, a hole in the hood , interesting, better than a pro stock scoop!
Love the vision for the hood! I do think the straight section of the intake pipe would look sick if it was chopped up into pieces cuts and welded back together to have the continuity with the 90s down and over. Then again,… y’all have the overall vision so maybe I’m way off. Either way y’all are killing’ it!
We're going to be making a badge for that flat piece there to make it pop just like the pie cuts!
@@SalvagetoSavage seeeeee I should have just been patient because y’all have the Vision! Thanks for the reply!
Awesome work brother in the end I’m intrigued as to what color you go with charcoal gray Silverish would be unreal would look “Hammer”. Aloha from Hawall🤙🏽🍍
Knowing every design move the owner has made with this car I’m expecting neon orange. lol
@@HOLY_FRIJOLES well. I’m hoping with the scheme they roll with will be away, from patina and clear , just my “opinion” on this build 👍
Oh no!! Should have welded those supports to the existing bracing and bonded it to the hood skin using the foaming adhesive like what is done from the factory. Those welds are going to start ghosting through on the surface after some heat cycles from the engine.
Tou rou lou and voilà. ( french expression we use in Québec, Canada. Love your builds and knowledge, keep it up !
The small section of hood behind the throttle body is going to contact the throttle cable
I was thinking same thing!
Looking great! Can't wait to see it strollin' down the street.
You and me both! We're getting so close to getting it fired up too!
I had a very similar continental (66' 2-door hard top) that I always wanted to do a 7.3 PS swap on because it had the 462cid engine and even a rebuild kit was 1k+ back in ~2005
Damn u doin it 💪🏽
Looks killer!
Thank you!!
Always killer.
Looking good. Can that throttle quadrant be reattached to the body such that the pull is downward into the engine bay rather than the pull being back towards the windscreen?
The throttle cable you’re going to install is going to hit on the hood bc the section by the throttle actuator will be sitting under the cable and when the hood comes up it prob won’t clear, but I could be wrong lol
How's the throttle cable going to work with that notch on the hood coming between the TB and where you want to add a mount on top of the intake manifold?
I think I see a problem? The piece of the hood under where the throttle cable will run will snag the cable when the hood is opened?
That was the first thing I caught too
100%
I wonder if they could flip the throttle body 180° and do the cable under the intake
@@Vaino_Hotti Even without the cable/hood snag is already thought it might look better inverted.
Exactly what I thought 👍@@Vaino_Hotti
Gotta wait for the end result, but this keeps getting more promising! Just, why didn’t you elongate the part which went vertical just before the inlet, and choose to modify the horizontal part?
More bitchin' S2S fab work. I was away last week but caught up past night, so full hood fun for me.!
A teardrop hood scoop would be period hot rod correct and would look sick imo
Isn't that little tab on the passenger side of the hood cutout going to hit the cable for the throttle body when it's installed?
Myyyyy savages gmmmmm an God bless yall❤
Good morning Luis!
I cant see how the throttle cable is going to work. Looking forward to seeing that.
Make sure you're subscribed then!
Curious why you didn’t install the TB upside down and run the cable through the air gap under the manifold?
How would you be able to lift the hood when the throttle cable was in place?
Looks like the throttle cable will interfere with opening the hood. Looks like the cable will span over part of your notch.
I would have been more a cowl fan then the hole but it looks nice. Will the cable catch the hood when it opens?
It shouldn't!
Umm, small question. That is a beast of a motor with a lot of horse power, won't it twist even a little when revved? Wouldn't that cause it to slam the right side of that hole? Or rattle against it at the least? Did it have solid mounts? I don't remember.
We should have enough clearance all the way around to account for any shifting of the engine!
🔥
How about dropping the throttle linkage down and under the throttle body and along drivers side of intake below the hood using cable/ mechanical linkage instead of over the top? Every thing is so clean looking why have a cable sticking out the hood..
Intake 🔥🫡
Thank you!
Why didn't you guys flip the throttle body 180° so you don't have to run the cable over the intake?
Well to da loo to you.
Could you metal finish under the hood. So you don't see any braces. You killed it on the cold air intake & and top of the hood!!!!!
Yeah! We would just have to make sure the paneling is light enough to not start pulling at the bracing and upper layer of the hood!
Redo those pie cuts and get rid of that bump in the intake elbow. Should be smooth 90 strait out.
Wait??!!!! The cars not going all murdered out black? What's the colour it will be Boss??
Booom
✌️🤙
This hood thing is not my taste at all, but I admit the work is very very well executed !
.
YOU RUINED A NICE CLASSIC! THANKS! NOT LIKE WE NEED TO KEEP AS MANY LAND YACHTS AROUND AS POSSIBLE SO PEOPLE THAT WANT EM CAN HAVE EM.
Lol
Why didn't you buy this one before our customer did then?
@@SalvagetoSavage we just need to preserve old clunkers
This is stupid! Why would you spoil the fine lines of this automdile? This would be like putting a clown nose on the mona lisa, or putting a fig leaf on david's little david!
Because we wanted to. So we did!
Not your sharpest looking project it became
Awful, ruining the car...
