No matter how thin you slice something, there will always be 2 sides. Dilon here. I am here to tell you my part of the story. First of all, let me be clear, we do not pay to alter the tone of any reviews. There is a clear distinction between paying for a TH-cam fee associated with putting up a review and paying to alter the content of the review; and for our case, it is the former. Gary is not right to say that we paid for altered content reviews when he has no proof whatsoever that it is the case - this is a false claim. If we have that mindset, why would we even approach Gary at the first place? The video is out and the request to take it down was after it is live. I saw the video hours before it went live like everyone, and I have not said anything to Gary prior to the video about apart from just sending the watch outright. There is a misconception that paid TH-camr reviews are skewed which I beg to differ. TH-camrs are human too, they need to be compensated for the time, costs and effort associated with creating a video. TH-cam commission itself is insufficient to make a living (unless you have millions of views). There are TH-camrs that requires fees and there are some that does not but want the product instead. Gary, in this case just wanted the product. But if you were to draw the ethical line, isn't taking the product sponsored too? The product has a cost element. I think, Gary has every right to say whatever he wants if he buys the watch outright without the brands knowledge and post a review about it. On a separate note, as a creator, it simply does not make sense to reach out to a TH-camr in hopes for some brand awareness, but the opposite happens when the reviewer posts something negative about it. Put yourself in my shoe, would you reach out to a reviewer and knowing that there is a chance he could completely tarnish your brand and you have no chance to say anything once you send your product over? At least give the creator a chance to opt not have it shown to the world. This is akin to inviting a stranger to your home for a coffee chat, but the stranger steals during his visit. At least give the creator a chance to say no, I change my mind in letting you in my home, I think this is potentially harmful for me. What I essentially disagree with the video put out is the tone with regards to the pulsometer function. Gary repeatedly mentioned that it is a gimmick and useless feature. Pulsometers has existed for a long time and has been in big brands too like Longines, Oris, Patek, etc. If you want to be objective about this, all watch bezels are obsolete to a certain degree, simply because the digital counterparts are far superior. Practically, all diver uses digital dive watch and the same goes to tachymeters, telemeters and all. Why bother with a Tourbillion? a quartz watch is far more accurate? For folks that says divers bezel can be used for timing, the same can be done with any bezel that has a triangle, just simple turn the triangle to the minute hand and you can have a mechanical timer. Why does the branding have to suffer simply for choosing an out of the ordinary bezel? What is more important IMHO, is simply the fact that this function can be utilized mechanically. It is more of the concept, less of the use. I have no issues on Gary mentioning about the larger tolerance bezel, bezels are made to be rotated. Larger tolerance will take into accounts for the dirt and grease that builds up over time that stops the bezel from rotating, which some might raise as an issue over time. And frankly speaking, no one would push the bezel like that in any normal circumstances, let alone turn the bezel. We have sold heaps of Pacer and not a single refund or exchange, no one has complained about the bezel tolerance so far. In hindsight, perhaps I think its fair for TH-camr to present the brand owners the chance to opt out of reviews before going live. Branding is fragile, so is life - everyone is trying to make a living. There is also a distinction between the freedom of opinion and whether the opinion is correct. In this case, I disagree with his tone on the pulsometer function; I may be wrong. In all honesty, Gary has all the right to voice his objective opinion in his review. Sometimes being right is good, but being nice is more important. In this case, Gary chose to be right. I am dishearten that the situation has turned out this way. 7 years to put a big bulky bezel on top of a dime a dozen sub homage case and a crown that doesn't match anything. The hands are a little small and and a timing function 99% of people will never use, that should (in my opinion) at least have a lumed second hand. Yeah, I'm not quite sure this one is going to fly off the shelves.
I just watched the other video prior to this review and I have to say it's all fair and honest. Nothing in there feels out of place or exaggerated. Good job on the video and I'm happy you're keeping it up.
Really good and fair review. The deficiencies you point out are really honest and helpful, both for the brand owner and potential buyers. I for one would never have been able to notice deficient elements like the bezel wobble and that crazy lug finishing. Hopefully the brand owner can take the critiques in stride and kick on.
24 hour subdial is actually really useful for mechanical watches with date wheels. Setting the date and time becomes less of a hassle when there is a 24 hour subdial. Love the power indicator too. Also a really useful function! To me, it looks like the size of the dial is too small for this movement? No space for 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock left on the dial. Regarding the heartbeat bezel, I think the new gshocks with heartbeat readers are more convenient, but I like the idea of trying to do this with a traditional watch!
On second thought I think the watch is made to be way overpriced by losing focus regarding what actually are its selling points in this saturated market. I think the pulsometer is a good idea and so is the design of the caseback, but the originality of the watch ends there. Hence, the price has been unnecessarily made too expensive. Why assemble it in Switzerland? And why the power reserve indicator and this particular movement? The watch could easily have been made in a high-quality factory in Asia with simpler entry-level 3 hands-movements and still have the components that make this watch unique. This way, the price would have been reduced to 1/3 of what it is now plus maybe with more room for aesthetic creativity for the dial and case shape design, as it just does not have much to speak about aesthetically.
Well, nice to see the video you reference on ilw2. Keep the video on, Dylan, you should appreciate reviews like this because they will help you make improvements on future releases. Re the watch, I love white dials and this one to me looks pretty cool, and I do love the uniqueness of having a heart rate bezel timer, I think that’s very cool, even though it isn’t something I would find overly practical for me, it’s just cool, why I also like tachymetre and telemetre on bezel, not because I find them super useful, I just like cool factor the eye candy factor, so I like that about this watch. Thanks Gary for another fantastic honest review
It seemed like a proper impartial watch review to me and that is exactly what watch enthusiasts want. I think you did the brand owner a favour. He should take the fair criticisms on board and strive to do better with the next model
24 hr indicator is useful for we psychos with too many watches... cuz youre always setting the time when you cycle too many watches and it helps to know am/pm when setting a watch with a date.
I would say this: How many of us take our divers diving, our flieger flying, or use our Chronos to time a measured mile? Not for me, but if you are into watches with unique features, this should meet that niche.
65 BPM is phenomenal, Gary. It is by no means "standard", as one of the comments suggests. It means that at full rest you are below 60, and this means that you have a very large and powerful heart, that doesn't need to make a big effort to circulate the blood in your body. Do you do cardio? If not, this is all the more impressive.
The owner should have said dont bother reviewing this watch unless you are going to give it ten out of ten , if you cant be impartial then its just paid advertising.
The pulsometer chrono was made in the early 18th century for use in pocket watches and a physician could use it single handedly while palpating the patient's artery with the other hand. These modern posers don't make the job any quicker nor more accurate since as long as a watch has a ticking second hand (or digital display) you can get the HR quicker by measuring a 10s interval or be more accurate by taking a 60s interval. Focus should be on the quality of the patient's pulse rather the exact beat rate since arrhythmias can be easily detected this way. Lovely video as always!
Watched both videos (the linked topic), and think this is a really decent review. Totally fair and told it how you see it, the negatives you've made it are well presented and that bezel movement is shockingly poor, obvious excess play. A balance of good and bad as you see it is what people want from a fair review on your channel so cheers Gary, keep it real and here is a toast to honest reviews - cheers.
Gary - Interesting to see and some really nice points. Nice to see a different movement in play and I really like that power meter and I’m not usually a fan; but I like the way the meter hand hinges from the 12 o’clock position and so close to the edge. Pulsations and 24 hour dials are functions that I really use but I can see the balance and the aesthetics at work. The hands looked a little thin and lost to me and I probably would prefer them and the indices to be a fraction thicker. Black on black is definitely the best of the three colours. But the reason I didn’t even go as far as investigating the price is that clasp - just not a fan of butterflies at all (poor fit, fiddly, uncomfortable, etc.). I’m guessing they are a bit “marmite” in the watch world?
I kind of dig the pulseometer. Fuel gauge and 24-hr dial are two of my least favorites, though. The sand dollar on the back seems out of place on a non-nautical looking watch. It's just kind of a mish-mash mess.
I want to see Gary review it, and tear it a new one 😂. I’m hoping a UK fan of the channel loans one to Gary for a bit. Start a war on Australian watch brands!
Let's be honest , it's a fair review , if I was getting paid to give this a glowing report I wouldn't be very proud of myself, if we go down the route of losing impartiality then what's the point!
For balance just watched another review with 'a moans and niggles section' (you know the one) and that too was balanced and not over complimentary in my opinion so wonder if Dylan requested that one to be taken down too?
I remember Jody reviewing this some time back, and I really dug it. The bezel clearly limits its appeal - wish it had something like that Formex interchangeable bezel system. And, I know they don't design or build the movements, so this isn't on them, but why oh why can't the 24 hr indicator *ever* be adjustable? It would suddenly go from nearly useless to a second time zone complication. Ultimately, you can tell that someone who loves watches poured his heart into this project.
You are a scholar and a gentleman. Keep the honest reviews coming. I know I'm getting well thought out and unbiased takes. I was a little naive about the number of sponsored content. Eyes open now...
Keep doing your honest reviews. If Dylan isn't happy send him his watch back. I wouldn't want to win it from one of your watch give aways. I could actually see the utility of a pulse rate bezel. Exercise fanatics always want to know their heart rate. But of course they are all wearing a Fit bit or other smart watch with a constant heart rate monitor. I might have liked this when I was a nurse in the 1970s. But today nurses and doctors all use a finger pulse oximeter. You know, they slip it on your finger every time you go to the clinic.
Remember the Selten 00.00 watch with the meteorite dial and the night and day complication? The movement is also labelled as a Miyota 9132, albeit not featuring a power reserve indicator on said watch.
The power indicator complication is my favourite one, even more than a date complication This watch looks very nice and looks like there have been many an hour on that dial design. I love the fat bulging caseback, as long as it doesn't prove to be uncomfortable The price though. Unreachable for me unfortunately. I took the time to visit their website. I wonder how much of the cost is due to the assembly location! Good effort overall. My favourite is the black steel version.
I don't quite understand the need for a power indicator on an automatic watch. On a handwinder, sure, but if you're wearing an auto, it's kind of pointless.
Interesting review. I own this watch, I got it when it was a kickstarter was about £480 so a fairly large price for a first time brand but I liked the 7 year story. I have to say I'm a big fan, the quality is fantastic - I wear it daily as I dont feel safe wearing my submariner anymore. I like the build quality, I like the weight, I like the size. The only thing I don't like is the height of the watch. I have the black on black - the bezel on mine doesn't wobble at all. Sounds very unfortunate they've sent out a defective watch to a reviewer but overall a fair review even if I disagree. I think it's important for us all to be able to express our opinions so we can make the best buying decision possible!
As someone who works in the ambulance service, it is a gimmick. It is useful but having spent far too long counting the beats for 15 seconds and multiplying by 4 and the use of electronic equipment, I would never use it. Added to that, almost all patient facing health care roles follow a "Bare below the elbow" policy, you shouldn't be wearing a wristwatch.
ps, professionally for a quick assessment I do 6 seconds and x10; for standard 15 seconds x4. Respiratory rate also useful….. In that respect the BOLDR Field Medic is better as it has both
65 while "performing" cardiometry like this is really good! I'm almost a decade younger than you and would have maybe clocked more ticks. depending on how Excited I was ofc. Lots of ⛽ ❤ ⛽ ❤ left in your heart. You're taking care of yourself, Gary, lets keep it up together 🚶 🏃 🚶🚶 😂🎉
I think a nice simple watch with a sector dial can do just as good or better job at helping to measure heart beats, but people love gimmick and this watch has a really neat one.
This watch is very meh its busy but not cluttered but not the insert is way to thick but mostly its very boring. I cant figure out what took this guy YEARS to do ....... this? But why is the bezel thicker then the case??
Utterly useless. For taking a pulse in a dark ward at night, the lume would need to be exceptional and the bezel would need to be fully lumed. So not for the professionals.
Fair review. I have to say, their website is incredibly impressive. Watch isn't for me, but I applaud all microbrands (and I do purchase microbrands, e.g. Farer).
I didn't find a single unfair, unreasonable or nasty comment in this video. I watched a balanced review of a flawed and somewhat gimmicky microbrand watch. DON'T take it down Gary 👍
I always think these watch functions, compass, pulse tachometer etc are similar to sporty shoes. I’m never going to run a marathon or walk in a desert but I love the styles.
I use dive time bezels as timers all the time, chronographs as well but tachymeter I’ve used a handful of times in years. Not against them but they are more for show
I like to think of them as a theme. They are really just there to complement the design as a whole. A tachymeter lends itself to a racing vibe, for example.
There are negative reviews on all the watch brands, from micro brands to established mainstream ones. Just have a look at the flak Rolex cops by a LOT of watch reviewers, some who flatly refuses to own one. I bought a Black Bay, after it being severely criticised for being "boring" and a Rolex wannabee by many watch channels. But I still bought it because I like it. Asking someone to remove a bad review is just bad optics, Dylan. You have a great looking watch, and I will take it over a Panzera every day. Because I like what I see. By inserting yourself in the negativity distracts from the pure visual appeal. Let the watch do the talking now. Do not try to silence your critics, embrace it and use it to your advantage by focusing on the positives that was mentioned. Also realise that spending 7 years on a project will make you more susceptible to not reacting well to critique. It is after all your vision coming to life. I would buy it, regardless of the reviewer's opinion. BTW, I think it was a good review, but will not affect my decision making. If it did, I will not own a single watch.
Not a fan of this watch. Too thick for a watch with so few complications. It's 14.2mm thick, it's about the same thickness as my Longines Grande Vitesse, and that has a Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement. And that janky bezel makes it a hard no from me.
Nice watch but... a wobbly bezel, pity. It's a very different looking bezel though, could be for anyone looking to add variety to a collection. Or a Christmas present for someone dating a paramedic.
Absolutely awful watch and it costs over £750, and people slag off Invicta. Who needs a Pulsometer, why spend seven years on this? Who is going to buy it?
Busy dial in my opinion and I'm sure I would never use the function of the bezel. The bezel movement is very disappointing. However, I do like the great choice in movement with the Miyota.
Very surprised he'd ask for this to be removed. I actually think you were a bit soft on the finishing of the lugs. That finishing and the wobbly bezel is very strange. Prototype style. I do like the look of the watch from the top though! Looks cool. Too thick though
not a bad watch and a fair review I had no idea reviewers got paid I just assumed the watches were free to reviewers Surely a clear message should be stated saying paid to review It is all a bit grubby, I may be naive but I'll be looking out now for this,at this price point i don't see the value sure some will.
I personally Don’t like this watch dose not make any sense, not many people are going to need a pulseometer! And the bezel isn’t a great start when it’s loose like that! Don’t they have quality control! On there website is says it’s a luxury watch….. no definitely not Luxury
The cutout for the power indicator scale is weird - it looks like the indicator should be behind the dial but they cheaped-out and wedged the word 'max' in the window instead. Then the needle placement means no 12 marker. Messy design.
unique looking watch but seems way overpriced....I'm sure there are reasons (is the movement really that expensive?) but AUD950 seems high to me...but I do really like the clean design, the 24 hour subdial I find handy for setting the watch, and I really dig a power reserve function, other than the price it's a great looking watch
How do you work at a design for 7 years and decide to put the worst complication possible on it, a 24h indicator? Also, the heart-beat is a close contender for an useless complication
lol to be fair what features on watches is useful in today's world? Do real divers use mechanical dive watches? Not professional ones anyway. Do racing drivers use the tachymeter features on watches? Do pilots use the fuel burn calculations on a watch? The list goes on and on but the facts are all watch types and features are rarely used in todays world are just there as part of a watches design and a nod back to the past when people did use them.
@@fergulator7297 You dont undertand, that complication doesnt help you monitor the heartbeat, any watch with a seconds hand can do that. You just count how many heartbeats there are in 30s and x2, or just count how many are in one minute.
@@bigwangmark All of that complications have a potential real-life purpose. A 24h indicator is completely useless, and a heartbeat complication is already present on any watch eith a seconds hand
How embarrassing for Mancheront. Imagine thinking you've got a tiny bit of hype (which was bought to begin with) so now you're going to use your influence to try and bully and gaslight smaller TH-cam creators. Really sad brand and one of the most MEH watch designs I've ever seen. They deserve their failure 👍
Having a dicky tikker myself i love this , best of both worlds . Real tech development here , with an auto heart . 65-70 good when relaxed .Dont worry you aint going to croak it yet . like the look too , showed the missus and she LIKES it to ,so Mr bank manager.........
While waiting for Mancheront's website to load I'm curious to know how it took seven years to design this? It seems like an accident of bad something, perhaps bad timing or perhaps uncontrolled over-investment of project design and project management, that during this watch's development life cycle smart watches which give an effortlessly accurate and "cheap as chips" heart rate monitor have become pretty widespread. Look I own a Swiss boutique brand COSC chronometer with a pulsometer bezel and the complication rates as one of the least useful ever. Who's going to use it really? My medical professional acquaintances use "work provided and tested" digital heart monitors. The world is a big place and the world of watches and watch design is just about as shallow and subjective as it's possible to be. Or maybe I'm completely wrong in which case this watch will be a sell-out.
Eh give the poor thing a break - there have been many pulse watches for nurses and doctors, today they're obviously as useful as a dive watch is to a diver. It's more of a tradition, as are divers, regulators, car driver watches, yacht regatta watches and so on
@@ilikewatches only to a point IMO - think of supercompressors, or even several bezel-less Panerai divers, not to mention more niche non "submariner" style dive watches.

It means that at full rest you are below 60, and this means that you have a very large and powerful heart, that doesn't need to make a big effort to circulate the blood in your body. Do you do cardio? If not, this is all the more impressive.
Awesome….not much cardio…good to know it’s half decent
The owner should have said dont bother reviewing this watch unless you are going to give it ten out of ten , if you cant be impartial then its just paid advertising.
This is a real review, and thank you for that, fair for sure. TH-cam should promote this sort of work.
Thank you
So… why were you asked to remove this vid?? Did I miss something?
The funky bezel is a deal killer for me.
Can't wait for you to review Jody's new watch - Erebus.
I don’t think everyone is reviewing it are they? I have no plans to at this stage.
@@ilikewatches hope to see you support it and order one
Why can't the 24 hour indicator be adjustable? Lol are you kidding? It can, it's called a GMT watch you doofus.
You are a scholar and a gentleman. Keep the honest reviews coming. I know I'm getting well thought out and unbiased takes. I was a little naive about the number of sponsored content. Eyes open now...
Good to know and thanks for the support?
Find a 24hour subdial almost pointless as I can only remember not knowing whether it was AM or PM once.. about 35 years ago
Ahhhh yes, great memory!
@@ilikewatches Haha its not that hard as I own a Selten watch! 😄
The power indicator complication is my favourite one, even more than a date complication
This watch looks very nice and looks like there have been many an hour on that dial design. I love the fat bulging caseback, as long as it doesn't prove to be uncomfortable
The price though.
@@Hrethgir I do not use a winder. Low power indication nudges me into wearing a watch. It's a mental and personal thing:)
Won't buy one of these purely because of the brand owners attitude.
I think that's a handsome looking watch and I like the complications but, yes, a wobbly bezel does make me ponder a bit!
Dillon probably should've spent another 7 years working on it because this ain't it chief.
Good honest review!! The bezel action is hideous. I would've send it back as a customer!
ps, professionally for a quick assessment I do 6 seconds and x10; for standard 15 seconds x4.
You're taking care of yourself, Gary, lets keep it up together
🚶 🏃 🚶🚶 😂🎉
The black on black does look nice.
I wish Dylan well, and suggest he send the B/B version out to future reviewers, instead of this white/silver one.
Black looks great , i agree .
Well other than the oyster case and bracelet looks quite original. Cool and interesting dial.
Overall I’d say this watch is a lemon. Dylan needs to harden up, and do better next time.
What was the price point?. Why do I always miss the price point ? 😡
Lol, I read that wrong….listen again maybe
Farer).
The power indicator looks like a myopic cat! Bezel should’t have left the factory.. 7 years - he must have smashed a mirror on day one!
14 mm thick? Sad waste of a 9000 series movement
This is an excellent point too...
65 is very standard Gary. You're safe.!! Interesting function! Nice looking watch!
Phew
Definitely better than "standard"
I didn't find a single unfair, unreasonable or nasty comment in this video. I watched a balanced review of a flawed and somewhat gimmicky microbrand watch.
DON'T take it down Gary 👍
I won’t, thank you
It was a fair review, what was the owners problem?
not less useful than a tachymeter. Both are a gimmick
I think it's a nice watch, perhaps a 12 hour bezel would be more useful to most people.
Absolutely awful watch and it costs over £750, and people slag off Invicta. Who needs a Pulsometer, why spend seven years on this? Who is going to buy it?
Seems like we're gonna enjoy I like watches content for ages
What makes you say that? Did you think I was close to giving it all up?
@@ilikewatchesHe's probably talking about your heart rate which is healthy for your likely age.
Long live Gary! 🍻
It's a sub clone with a gimmick bezel. Nothing revolutionary...
I do love the grip around the bezel that looks pretty unique and cool
I beg to differ but I don't really have issues with any of your complaints about the watch. I think it's good looking.
come on man if they rename it to Wobblemaster 3000 you would want one
Busy dial in my opinion and I'm sure I would never use the function of the bezel. The bezel movement is very disappointing. However, I do like the great choice in movement with the Miyota.
Very surprised he'd ask for this to be removed. I actually think you were a bit soft on the finishing of the lugs. That finishing and the wobbly bezel is very strange. Prototype style.
I do like the look of the watch from the top though! Looks cool. Too thick though
not a bad watch and a fair review I had no idea reviewers got paid I just assumed the watches were free to reviewers Surely a clear message should be stated saying paid to review It is all a bit grubby, I may be naive but I'll be looking out now for this,at this price point i don't see the value sure some will.
just listen for the word ‘sponsored’! That will tell you all you need to know.
Interesting no reason to be 14mm thick
Nothing wrong with this review. You explain pros and cons, things you like and things you don't.
Seven years to develop a sub case?
Nice looking piece and you gave it a well-rounded review, Gary.
I personally Don’t like this watch dose not make any sense, not many people are going to need a pulseometer! And the bezel isn’t a great start when it’s loose like that!
Don’t they have quality control!
On there website is says it’s a luxury watch….. no definitely not Luxury
Not a good watch in my opinion. Great movement though.
Lol who wants to check their heart rate , not me.
It certainly is a dog's breakfast. Sub case and sub par bezel etc. It just seems like a patchwork of poor design choices to me.
You are wrong, plenty of people want a heart beat sensor,it's one of the most popular features on smart watches
When i was cycle touring and training for ultramarathons my resting heart rate was 35 bpm. They should have extended the scale.
Butterfly clasp 🙄
Wow that's one hideous watch, Mido made a great version of this type of watch, he going to lose money on this venture.
Fantastic review, bought one! Thanks Gary!
65bpm means that the watch is boring😂
Really don’t like this watch at all.
Nice case back
Seems like a fair enough review to me. That wobbly bezel.. blimey
Maybe it is “gimmicky,” but I’m more likely to use that than a GMT or word timer - and that’s not to say those aren’t cool either.
Having a dicky tikker myself i love this , best of both worlds .
Real tech development here , with an auto heart .
65-70 good when relaxed .Dont worry you aint going to croak it yet .
like the look too , showed the missus and she LIKES it to ,so Mr bank manager.........
It's really to their detriment if they ask you to remove your fair review.
It's your opinion, stay true bro!
It's an interesting watch.. why remove the video?
I've Been Asked To Delete A Video By A Watch Brand
th-cam.com/video/vfufoK-6ouc/w-d-xo.html
The hands do look too small for the face
I like the dial, but the bezel is too radical for me.
the only thing going for this watch is that it rips off a submariner case
black on black would have been nicer!
Comment added for the algorithm, and because I support you 💯
While waiting for Mancheront's website to load I'm curious to know how it took seven years to design this?
Ain't nobody got time to take a pulse for 30 seconds. Count the beats for 6 seconds and times by 10.
silly watch 🙄 rather not really my taste 😊
Not for me, the dial looks like a watch you buy from the supermarket.
The watch is not made for bezel turners... 🎉
Great looking watch but, yeah, my Amazfit Neo does the same and more. And it only cost me $25 😏
if he wanted an AD he should have paid for one.
He did…on other channels lol
Eh give the poor thing a break - there have been many pulse watches for nurses and doctors, today they're obviously as useful as a dive watch is to a diver. It's more of a tradition, as are divers, regulators, car driver watches, yacht regatta watches and so on
I think dive watches are more of a style, this has a function…
@@ilikewatches only to a point IMO - think of supercompressors, or even several bezel-less Panerai divers, not to mention more niche non "submariner" style dive watches.
