- This is another car I got in an auction lot. In the picture at the end of the video, you can see the glass load looks nicer. I ended up putting two wads of paper underneath to give it more of a wavy look.

FANTASTIC video my good and dear friend, it really is fantastic 🤩🤩🤩🤩. Like 21 👍!!!!!!!
Thank you so much!😃
Interesting background story on recycling glass car and nice way to it on this build 😎 Darrell
I always enjoy learning about unusual loads railroads hauled. If it wasn’t for winning this car in an auction lot, I would perhaps never knew about theses glass hoppers. I should have mentioned the recycled glass was shipped to Corning Glass.
Great share 👍 big like and full support 👌 👍 🙌
Thank you!
That turned out great!! Looks good Mark ‼️ Jenny
Thank you so much!
That came out pretty good.. great idea 👍
Thank you! I’m glad the glass load worked. Wasn’t sure how that as going to turn out.
Turned out perfect! Thanks for the tip
Thank you and your welcome!
This is what the best modelers say to do: take chances and try stuff 💯- awesome! Take care - Bill
I hope I showed people it’s ok to try simple things. Many people on live chats have said they are afraid of ruining a car.
Another fine Build Mark. That glitter paint sure looks good. Loose Glitter Is banned in this house so that paint will do the trick...
Thank you. I’m glad I found that glitter paint. I would hate to have used loose glitter and find it all over my expensive locomotives and everything else!
Great looking upgrade 👍 The glass load turned out nice as well, cool idea using the glitter paint 👍🚂
Thank you! I first got a sliver glitter paint, but that was way too shiny. I’m glad I came across the teal glitter paint.
Interesting load, I like it! Never knew railroads hauled crushed glass in hopper cars. Seems like I'm always learning something new about railroads.
From what I read there put different colors of glass in different hoppers, then shipped them to Corning Glass. It would been interesting to see these loaded hoppers from an overhead bridge.
Excellent ya had alittle local story with your glass hopper car.🚂🇨🇦🇺🇲🙋
I never knew about theses glass hoppers until I got this car. It was cool that this inexpensive car taught me some history.
Very cool, that is an interesting load for sure! It would be awesome to see one in real life!
Thanks! I’m glad I found a way not to get glitter everywhere!
@@MyLifesTracks You're welcome, seems like thing can get messy pretty quick! lol
Yeah ! That is cool freight car. Especially seeing D&H shipped recycled glass. I will search for this car at train shows. Thank you.
I think it’s a pretty common car. I bet you’ll find one at a show.
@@MyLifesTracks Hope so. You lite the fire for modeling a glass car. Too neat to pass up.
Gonna pick up the glitter glue you suggested. From three feet away or even if you told them. That turned out great.
I’ve seen people make recycle loads from using glitter and gluing it like track ballast. I could just see that glitter getting everywhere!
Nice upgrade! I ordered 4 sets of 148 couplers and a pack of the talgo inserts. Hope they work as well as yours!
Just make sure the coupler box is clear of anything that the whiskers on the coupler could catch on. I hope it works out well for you to!
great find! and I kinda do the same thing with plastics with thick nylon'ish sale tags as jimmyrigged bills on hooks to make worms snake through the water.
I use to make fishing lures when I was a kid. I also would go lure searching in the Spring on Keuka Lake and I would repaint a bunch.
@@MyLifesTracksjust imagine how much you'd get now with how many old spots you know of if you magnet-fished-ebay-flipped, a lot of old lures go like crazy nowadays pretty easily.
😊
The D&H car is an old Varney design.
It is interesting the history of who made a mold then who got it later. I’ve always wondered if the old Lionel HO molds are still around??
