  • Hello everyone, and welcome to the Woodland Mall in Bowling Green Ohio! This vintage gem opened in 1987, and did pretty well at the start for this small college town outside of Toledo. However, the Mid 90s and early 2000s would not be kind to Woodland Mall, has anchors like JCPenney and Hills would both leave, and even though replacement tenants would be found, it was not enough time before other tenant would start vacating. However, Woodland Mall will become home to Plenty of small businesses from the area, and would become more of a community center. Let’s check out this vintage 80s mall in its current state!

      Ask customers to search online
Making it oblivious to the traffic
      Act like deals dont exist
      Zero responsibility for the interior
      Online job application only
      Never help customers

My own view is that it is time to redevelop this property, it's a relic of a time that has long passed. Franklin Park Mall in Toledo is about 35 min away and let's just say it isn't the safest place to go these days. Lima is a little over an hour away from BG, so that's not really convenient. Still, with Amazon, eBay, and online shopping you really don't need a mall.

I was there from 96 - 2002, that mall was always dead! Felt like walking though a ghost town.

I've lived in Bowling Green for about a year now and I've walked through this place a couple of times, wondering how this is even still a thing. The gumball machine still looks about the same.

Another sad relic of a past, that some people like to imagine was better than it really was. It wasn't the past that was better, it was being young, that was better than being old.

@@regnadkcin6702 the past was better simply by statistics alone, there's a reason why they called it the golden age of manufacturing, music, television, culture, fashion, and education. The middle class was booming, wages kept up with inflation, and the family unit was more intact than now.
And I'm 25 but I feel no nostalgia for the early 2000s but a lot for the 80s so your statement makes no sense

It's always scary to see a huge gumball machine in a dead mall - I have to wonder how long those gumballs have been in it? Icky!

1990s I studied in the mall.
2000s Professor Tinkers was the anchor, and I went to the $10 Gym that took over On Cue aka Sam Goody
2010s went to that movie theater for $1.50.
    Sad theres nothing since 2020.

Great video! It's good to see the mall is in good condition (and retained the vintage aesthetics) and they at least found something that works for it to save it from complete closure.

Thx! And I’m also glad they found a way to keep this place open still!

If they anchored it with tj max and Ross it would actually thrive
