    I don't normally like Les Pauls. I have to say that up front. Having said that, this might be one of the most beautiful Les Pauls I have laid my eyes on! Absolutely stunning! I SO want (and probably can't afford) this guitar!

    Hate to say it but there is something really special about those true historics...

    These get grief for the price but if you can afford one it's a truly sensational instrument.

    awesome playing pete & what an awesome LP.
    btw the LP + Marshall JTM45 sounds freakin' sweet. Glad you switched out the JCM.

  • @FatihPekbas
    @FatihPekbas 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can't get enough of your playing Pete. And what a great guitar. However, when ever I have an expensive Gibson in my hands and have a detailed look at them I'm so disappointed due to the lack of quality even at their most expensive models.

  • @bowel_movement
    @bowel_movement 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    My god Pete, the pickup switch you did at 2:02, sounded so lovely, and I don't only mean the sound before and after, but the actual switching itself sounded amazing.

  • @jeremiahmountain2460
    @jeremiahmountain2460 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Danish Pete! Great playing as usual! That JTM 45 sounds so good, you guys should use it more often

    • @Bacontruffle
      @Bacontruffle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jeremiah Mountain It's prone to overheating and burning. That's why they don't use it that much. (that is - if it's like the JTM 60's that have some cooling issues)

    • @jeremiahmountain2460
      @jeremiahmountain2460 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bacon Muffin I'm pretty sure it's the reissue but you could take the back off n get a fan on those tubes to help. I have a 50watt plexi n do that cuz Marshalls usually run hot

    • @Bacontruffle
      @Bacontruffle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremiah Mountain Alright! Sweet! Good to see they fixed it in the reissue
      I personally haven't had much heating problems at all with my Marshall... (not a JTM btw) then again it has a fan that's louder than my computer... (which has it's drawbacks)

    • @jeremiahmountain2460
      @jeremiahmountain2460 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bacon Muffin what kind of Marshall are you playing?? The new JTM sounds great/super quiet and has great headroom like a super lead but not as loud

    • @Bacontruffle
      @Bacontruffle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremiah Mountain I'm just using a good old 100W Marshall AVT

    I thought the true historic might have been a slight gimmick but they are hands down the best sounding les Paul's

  • @fossilmatic
    @fossilmatic 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    A suggestion; the thing your videos do not really show is the profile of the back of the neck. This is hard I know, but some pinch grip shots edited in of the lower, middle and higher reaches of the neck side on would be really useful to go with all the great other information the videos show. Trying to pause the video as you twirl the neck, or interpreting a description like "chunky", "slim", etc. is frustrating. Been thinking this about these videos and your other reviews for years. Hope you read this.

    • @lars4738
      @lars4738 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I second this!

    • @andertons
      @andertons  8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      +fossilmatic Hi there. These videos are made so you guys can hear the sounds of the guitars. If you follow the link in the description there will be more info and photos of the guitar. If it is a guitar you or anyone else are interested in buying we will be happy to try to take those photos for you. We will also speak to our photographer to see if this would be possible to add in future high end guitars. But we do recommend to come in and try these guitars out if possible as they are remarkable things. Thank you for watching.

    • @fossilmatic
      @fossilmatic 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Andertons Music Co really appreciate the response. Being 12000 miles away makes it a it hard, but until I get to Guildford from NZ a few slower neck shots would be great!

    That's easily the nicest finish Gibson has put on a new guitar. I really like the "aging" that Gibson does, but I draw the line at deliberate dings to the finish.

    I really wanted to dislike the true historics, I thought molecularly correct plastics could do one. Unfortunately, they are incredible guitars. The best sounding and playing les Pauls out there.

      Guitar Cult well the headstock's are pretty fragile but that's probably the only downside

    • @bambostarla6259

      Cause they are jelous :P

    • @wayfaerer320
      @wayfaerer320 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love my LP, but they're far from perfect. They don't balance well when sitting and playing (always wants to fall off your lap), which is just annoying, the headstocks are super fragile and really can't stand up to much abuse (much more prone to snapped headstocks than other guitars), and finally they don't stay in tune as well as other guitars because of the angle the strings pass through the nut (which to be fair is solvable by modifying the nut should it need it). That said, they're stunningly beautiful guitars and are absolute tone monsters.

  • @Jalliams
    @Jalliams 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lovely playing, Pete.. showcasing those amps nicely too. Just noticing the fret board is more the lighter brown colour of rosewood, or maple.. Wouldn't a true historic 59' have an ebony finger board? A thousand pardons if that's incorrect.
    Cheers.

    • @RRoy83
      @RRoy83 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James R. P Williams it should actually have a Brazillian board but due to cites and restrictions on brazillian Gibson used Indian Rosewood on these. I have a True Historic 1960 reissue and its my best guitar out of all the high end guitars Ive had

  • @MadGuitarCollector

    I honestly do not get the incessant chasing of "vintage" guitars & clones and "vintage" amplifiers. It's really almost kinda silly when young guys try to sound like old guys. Its like a modern car is trying to be as crappy as on old one. Now if you can afford to have actual 1950-70s guitars, thats a totally different thing.
