Thats a food company. Most food is produced here in america, especially things like wheat and corn products. The only reason some of our produce comes from overseas is because of seasonality reasons.
Ahhh. I consumed many a Jiffy Mix back in the day. My wife says I lured her into marrying me by preparing her Jiffy Mix muffins. I always enjoy watching industrial switching videos, so thanks for this one. Cool Trackmobile. I didn't know some of them have side rods. Cheers from Wisconsin!
ChainsawN&W1218, always interesting to see NS doing work at a local plant, neet to see how they had the SD 40E and - 2 set up,filmed some locals doing work over the years, occasionally catch a local working at the Coca-Cola plant in Roanoke VA on Virtual Rail Fan picking up or dropping off corn syrup tankers.

That was one of the best opening sequencies I've ever seen! It started of great with having an Amtrak going by and following it. But then the catch of the day! Another Amtrak going by for an amazing meet! Great catch!
Thank you for documenting this version of Norgolk Southern train #B44 on 10 October 2018, Drayton! It wasinteresting to watch the crew doing the switching at the Chelsea Milling Company in Chelsea, Michigan.
Love me some of them Jiffy corn muffins ...... good with pinto beans and home fried taters and onions ......from East Tennessee saying hello and thank you for the video 😁👍❤🇺🇸
I watch your videos daily you do a wonderful job with full information along with your videos no one does a good video like you do. Iwatch your videos on my smart TV for hrs and hrs. I'm 75 and you fill my day everyday. You and those who assist you are the best at what you do. At the moment I'm watching the Indiana Northeastern video this is the best one in my opinion as it has many camera views. All your videos are educational about the subject you've produced. The other folks just shows train some have written info not much to look at. The Signal man from Florida is my second favorite videos, but your # 1 thanks for doing what you do for us in giving interesting and educational intertainment
Great job showing industry switching. I love that you shared the history of the mill. I used to bake cakes over an open fire when hiking and canoeing in northern Minnesota. Jiffy brand mix. Just add water!! Awesome memories.
Very Cool! I hear that train come through at night - you can hear it when it's between Grass Lake and Chelsea. The coyotes yip and yelp when the train goes through. I worked at Jiffy for a while - they still use packing machines from the 50's and the place is very clean. They used to have tours. I think every kid in Chelsea schools have been to Jiffy - my kids included. Thanks for the video.
We've always used Jiffy cornbread mix at our home. It's what we've always used for over 40 years. Good product. I never knew where it was manufactured. Interesting and educational video.
Great catch and definitely learned something new abt my favorite muffin mix lol. Its amazing how these engineers know how far and fast to go b4 releasing other cars! Thanks again for sharing your videos and look fwd to seeing the next one.
okay... A train stopping at a gas station to use the facilities and grab a coke. That's something I never really thought I'd see on a rail-fan video. LOL Awesome switching sequence, love the old SDs! And over-powered is right. DPU for two hoppers. A bit of over-kill. LOL
They usually run to Wayne Mi on the 38J and service them on the way. I’m assuming that they were hot cars and they needed a switch. I used to work for the NS out of Jackson Yard.
Nice video. Since everything is made of plastic a injection molding plant is a good idea to model too. Several plants of different designs are in my neck of the woods. Atlas makes the 5250, 5701 and 5800 capacity ACF hoppers. Walthers has the NSC 6200 capacity car. Athearn and Bachmann have a basic model. Now for someone to offer a Trinity 5850 and 6200, Freight Car America and ARI/ Greenbrier model.
JiffyMIx competes with Bisquick in the baking mix aisle (I have used both) - and I am on the eastern US - a rather LONG way from Michigan. In other words, a regional product they are not!
Great places you featured I live in the area of both jiffy and NS Corp. I also have had many opportunities to deliver and work hand an hand with both of these great companies.
I love your videos! I’ve learned so much from them and I really like your intro, thanks for teaching me. I think you might like some of my videos I hope you watch one. Great video😁😁👍🏾🔥
Proud of this industry for staying in business in America!!
Also as an America production facility, they deserve our business. More American companies need to do their production here, not overseas.
See they have a trackmobile there
That sd40 is an awful big locomotive for switching lol
Thats a food company. Most food is produced here in america, especially things like wheat and corn products. The only reason some of our produce comes from overseas is because of seasonality reasons.
Most food processing is done here.
Jiffy is one of the few companies that offer tours of their manufacturing facility. HIGHLY recommended!
I’d love a tour. Wish I was close. Someone should do a virtual tour and place it on youtube!
@@tomroise9426 NO pictures or videotaping in the facility.
That's something you don't see often, the crew kicking the cars back to the locomotive. Awesome video.
The man that runs that company (Jiffy) is Howdy Holmes. I met him once when he was a race car driver. He's really down to earth and a very class act.
Corn bread and slow cooked pintos.....Can not think of anything better.
Thanks DIB, I now know where my favorite Jiffy Mix is made.
Thanks so much for watching!
Glad to see there are still Products being Manufactured in the Unites States 🇺🇸 90+ years later. Thanks! 👍
I used to haul containers out of Chicago. Chelsea Milling was fairly common back haul when we did a Detroit run.

That is one of the best cornbread. Its sweet taste and moist. Ns needs to bring more of it to my table.

super cool rebuilt old SD50 - didn't know the Jiffy plant was there, (use their cornbread mix pretty frequently...)
I remember those boxes in my mother's pantry blueberry muffins! 👍 That's Jeff Daniels home town. Great Video Thanks!

Every time I picked up from Jiffy, it went to the Walmart DC in Pageland, South Carolina. 44,000 lbs was the average weight.
I remember in 3rd grade taking a tour of the facility on a school field trip. Loved seeing the trains in action
Under The Radar and Destination Michigan, both on PBS, have done good stories on the Jiffy Plant and it's history.
Video looks great, and I just love the sounds; great audio too!
That sure is a lot of cornbread muffin mix.
78,700 total YT competitive railfanning points awarded 👍
Love how the P5 on the admiral cab is fouled but it's fouled just right so it sounds like a P3.
Love this video. Great catch of the little shop goat action. Thanks.
I've wondered when this takes place, though am surprised it takes place more at night.
I'm surprised that ns serves them with only 2 cars going 18 miles. Nice video, thank you

Cool! I CANT wait for another great railfanning video
I love coming back to this video. It's a good one.
Great video. Personally I enjoy switching videos better than high speed hundred car freight's.
Another awesome video dude 👏
Kicking cars into a locomotive? Damn I would never have thought that would be a legal move

Kicking cars was pretty cool!

Anybody else suddenly hungry for cornbread and chili.
What's pretty neat about Jiffy Mixes is the company president is a former racecar driver Howdy Holmes. He raced several times in the Indy 500.
Only an Alco makes a sweeter sound than an SD40-2. Great video as always.
Cool Switching and History vid.
When these cars move without an engine is it down a slight slope or from the momentum from the engines push?
Yes, most yards are a bowl so they can kick cars in and not roll out. It doesn’t take much to get a load rolling.
Great footage great video

What kind of camera(s) do you use for your videos?
Wanted to hear the hoppers couple. LOL
Great switching video 👍👍
High quality switching video....
My home town!
nice vid... jiffy having a car mover saves them from an inter-plant switch fee (about 200 bucks per car)
Wait didn't I see this video like 4 years ago?
Trackmobile! Neat!
What was in the Hoppers?
good question... i'm thinking maybe cornmeal or sugar
Same here
How close can you get to the yard??? I tried going up there to scout it out a month ago and I couldn’t find a good entry point
And what is the story on that old brick watchtower interesting Building
Jeff Daniels lives there. I think he grew up there too.
Now I know where mr muffin mix comes from.
That means Jiffy was a NYC.PC.Conrail now NS Customer.100 years and going strong it seems
Nice video!
How many trains go through there
Awesome!
Great Product! I sold a many case of Jiffy For A Marketing Company!
How are the cars moving with no loco power?
Momentum
Just love that sound... like smelling gun powder... it's a Man thing 👍.
Wow. Not sure what the rules are on NS, but on the UP, we can’t kick cars against a standing locomotive.
It all depends on the yard master and how hot the cars are!
Don't they have a bathroom on the locomotives anymore?
They do, but there's a good chance it was incredibly nasty
