    i traded my A6 for a ‘18 XE S. i can count on 1 hand how many jags i see on my commute to & from work on a biweekly basis. the best part about ownership is really loving your car for what it is, versus having to remain in the top status of german counterparts. my little XE can smoke any midsize german car with their little 4 bangers any day of the week. i’m so happy i dove in the deep and didn’t let this car get away!

    I'm really glad you did this review. I've been curious what the xf is like without the supercharged V6 and it's as expected. I know it's loaded but I just can't get behind any of these luxury cars with turbo 4 engines. 4 cylinder engines don't fit the character or price of the luxury cars they're bolted into.

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, which is why they should have just cancelled this car along with the XE if they aren't going to give it a proper engine, in this case their excellent new I6. I mean it should have a V8 too, but that's too much to ask. A 100 sales a month just isn't worth the effort. It's still a pretty car though and the interior finally looks like a luxury car.

    I had this as a loaner car when my Range Rover Evoque was in for service (no it was not an oil change, it was doing “JLR things” lol).
    Anyways, the XF (3.0l supercharged) was a hoot to drive, really enjoyed the way it handled. I love the Jaguar sedans because they’re so exquisite and to me they are much simpler in their operation and are tad less “gimmicky” than the Germans (especially the pre-2020MYs), I feel like I’m driving Jaguars I’m more focused on the way the car drives and not distracted by the electronics.
    As always Steve, really enjoy your videos and this was no exception! Cheers!

  • @anthonycbrown1952
    @anthonycbrown1952 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The marketplace is speaking loudly and very few people get excited paying $70K for a turbocharged 2.0 4 cylinder heavy sedan. There are millions of slightly used V6 and V8 vehicles that will give you the refinement befitting a $70K price tag for a lot less. Very few people are asking for full-on electricfication but auto manufacturers seem to be grasping at straws attempting to virtue-signal eco-friendliness and modernity when the real issue is $$$$. The price of vehicles has risen beyond the earning power of many households and the cost of new vehicle ownership is less attractive. A recent study indicated $10K is the average cost (property taxes, fuel, insurance, maintenance, depreciation, etc.) of ownership (excluding the car payment).

  • @trevorsutherland5263

    Goodness that is a lovely spec! Visually I think it has no equal; the E is ugly, the A6 and 5er are handsome but not spectacular. All those base with a turbo four too; in short this is by far the better option than all of those at the 50 to 60 grand point.

    I'm looking at the XT Sportbrake for business, sports and epic road trips. Making electric not an option. You just can't get through Eastern Europe. Also, I want an Estate or better, if such exists.
    Enough of a distinction from the Mercedes, Audi, BMW and Volvo alternatives in the same price range? Can one live with the front wheel drive version, or need to burn the extra gas on AWD? German might be more relaxed abroad, but so dull to show up in....

    I own an XF-S with a 5.0 V-8 putting out about 400 HP and 380 Lbs ft of torque. As beautiful as the new XF is, it is woefully underpowered and not worthy of being a Jaguar. I drove one and it's a dog. I would have bought one if it had the old Supercharged V-6 or ideally, a V-8.

      I leased a Kona EV last April. And it’s kind of like getting our first microwave oven (I’m old so pardon the reference.) Before it we didn’t think we needed or wanted one. And now, unless I was considering a high-end sports car, I wouldn’t ever go back to an ICE car. The EV experience is so much different in a good way. I love it. So I think it’ll take some convincing; getting people to experience the torque and how easy it really is to charge (not to mention the reduced maintenance costs and never going to a gas station ever again.)

The front growler badge looks like a five year old drew it. On the interior, no piping on the seating, cheap looking print pattern on the seats, wood trim looks awful, center screen looks like it's from Best Buy and held on with Velcro, gear shifter is weird looking.
