Good unbiased review. I have an analog 8 bus mixer, but it's not something you can move around easy :-) I'm going to try out the AR12c myself in a few days. OK, so even if the onboard DSP stinks, I have outboard rack gear & VSTs. It seems like a good option for OBS, etc, Thanks for the video!
Great video. Do you mind me asking what you are using to record video and sync to the audio track using this mixer? I am looking at doing some YT "drum covers" and am a newbie. Many thanks.
I use Final Cut Pro X. With both clips selected there is a "new multicam option" in the contextual menu, and clips are automatically synched against audio peaks, then you can switch source.
Hi there. I have a small ''problem'' ..... I can't hear anything in my headphones (I'm using Studio One). Can you please make a video of that output settings? I'm really struggling. Thank you!
Hi there okay so for the headphones you have to turn up Phones volume, and, if you use PFL, enable PFL for the channel you’d like to hear, and turn up master PFL volume as well. Making it short: check your pre-fade-listening stuff, is it set up correctly?
@@antoniomediaproduction For recording drums, would you go with only the DAW (Studio One), and an interface, or The AR 12? I'm having trouble finding videos on how to record drum tracks using the Studio One. I've had it a few weeks, and have been frustrated. Yeah, I'm a newb to DAW
Drums are though to record right, no matter which software, I personally would go for at least a set of (stereo) room mics, and one mic for the kick, and then bus split the individuals sections of the drums with notch equalizers, and re-balance in software. As a starting point. Well if you have more mics... you can have dedicated tracks per each drum piece, and the room, that would be the best.
@@antoniomediaproduction I plan on using 5-8 mics. The AR has 4 stereo tracks? So, let me ask you. Make my template, set the levels, and than use a bus for the final mix? I'm not even sure what busting is. All the videos I've watched assume I know what all these terms are. I guess starting out is the frustrating part. I have been able to make a template lol
It definitely works over Bluetooth connection. The USB-C interface of the mixer itself is class-compliant so it should work with an iPad over USB-C connection as well, though you need to buy your own USB-C to USB-C cable. I do recommend you contact PreSonus first for additional details.
The mixer is very quite! Nothing like that to report. Be careful however not to change the sampling rate of the USB interface while on performance. You shouldn’t be doing this anyhow, I mean, you load audio core if you are on Windows/Mac and don’t mess around with that while performing.
@@antoniomediaproduction ah ok thank you, one last question, im guessing you can't record keyboards on this via midi right? because it doesnt have those ports?
This is not about this video, but about the manufacturer. Presonus should be ashamed of their support, and the Baton Rouge identity they advertise. I am visually impaired, blind that is, and I've been trying to get a hold of someone from their tech support for over a year, now. Impossible to create a ticket online with my accessibility tools, and when you call their main number, you land with a person that very much sounds like they are from the Philippines. Best of all, I had the most condescending support experience with this agent about being blind. It's the first time I make a case about my handicap, but you have just nurtured the most negative sentiment I've ever had for a product, a service, and a business. Good luck!
Thank you. I feel you're review was much more realistic for me. Thank you
Very useful instructional demonstration. Well done! Thank you.
Great mixer. I've had mine for four years. It blew up last week. Not sure if I'm gonna go with another one.. it's design is nice however
Very good review! Thx!

Only 4 XLR ins on the AR8? I guess I'll need the 12 to get 8 XLR in?
Yes. Also with the 12 you’ll get full sized faders for all channels!

Hey, tnx for the presentation. Do you know if this mixer also works with ipad pro (usb-c) with garageband? Does the ipad recognize the usb-soundcard?

AMP! Antonio Media Production Ok. Thanks
@@klaverbokser did you ever find out? Thinking about getting one to connect with my phone too since I don’t have a laptop.

Lokesh Thakur right! This is an analog tracks mixer with DACs and ADCs but no midi in/outs -> you’ll have to use a separate interface for that.
Great review sir thanks
