4:38 Now that's a LOT of HUM !!!! Seeing/listening to this will remind me of using a footswitch which will allopw me to stay at a distance form the amp. Thanks a lot for your video !!!
This amp is actually amazing sounding if you upgrade the tubes and the speaker to a vintage 30. The Marquis actually got a lot better after being broken in but the v30 blows is out of the water. It is freaking loud too.
He said the bright switch was for the clean chanel. It works for both. Problem is you need it for the dirty chanel but it is too bright on the clean. There is a mod to keep the dirty chanel bright and let the switch work on the clean, but I'm not messing with mine. That said, the dirty chanel without the bright is OK with a single coil pickup, but humbuckers really sound best with the bright engaged.
whats the cabinet made out of? Hopefully not cheap particle board or MDF. because I just bought one used and dont really want another crappy cabinet lol
I bought one this Spring, but have had problems with it. It sounded good on low volume, but once you pass 4 on the volume knob it started making all kinds of noise to the point where I had to shut it off. Sooo, had one tube in the pre-amp replaced and it sounds fine now. Not much fun when you buy it new and it has problems from the start. So I would put a big questionmark as far as reliability.
@humbucker101 im considering upgraging to a new amp and this one looks great. do you know how much it is and would it be good for playing heavy metal type music? thanks
i wish this demo would've been done with humbuckers. not sure why the 'vibe' effect isn't called phaser...? that's what it is. love the sound of the amp. i can hear it's potential.
GREAT Demo, I was really considering a Marshall Haze but after such a thorough demo I hate to say it but I am not a fan of the Marshall Haze. I'd rather stay with my Blues Jr and my Blackstar HT5R..I think they both sound better than this amp but that's just my opinion. It makes me happy with what I have and that was a good thing. Thanks for the truly complete demo, Steve. No Diss intended.
@rvallejos96 both of those amps are pretty equal to me. they sound similar except the marshall has a bit more of the el34 bite to it while the hot rod III has the fender cleans and almost marshallesque sounding drive channel.
It's a good amp, but replace the speaker (i putted a vintage 30 in), and open the back of the amp by sawing half of the backplate, just above the screws. It will get rid of one of the down parts of this amp, witch is overheating.. And, the effect's, i just do not use them personally.
I like mine best through V30's as well and have done the simple JCM800 mod (easy to find on google), which gets rid of more of the muddiness and makes it more agressive sounding. The mod should only be done by a qualified tech though, tube amps contain lethal currents, even when switched off. Consists of a few capacitor and resistor changes, doesn't change the core tone of the amp, but allows it to 'breathe' better.
I would disagree. I spent a whole two days with this amp. I had a good usable tone within 5 mins. Tweeked it out to perfection in less than 15. It held it's tone even at louder volumes. Tube change, as well as a speaker change might be warranted.
@xTheAussieMCx The haze 40 is more for classic rock, blues, country..it will do more early metal..if you mainly play all metal..take a look at the Blackstar 40, there both the same price...700.00 new
I'm French, sorry for my English. I've just bought a Haze40 and I'm too happy, it's a great amplifier but too powerfull for house!! Is a device exists to put the volume hight and hear a normal sound? Thank you
A friend of mine has a haze 40. He gets it fixed at least once a year. Meanwhile my Peavey Classic Chorus 130 has never had 1 single problem in the 13 years I've owned it. And it was old when I got it. Every time I plug my Peavey in, it gets played at 3/4 volume, through a DigiTech Death Metal pedal with the bass setting up high. Anyone thats ever used that pedal knows that the bass is extreme, to the point where quite often, you can watch the screws on the Peavey unwinding. I recently bought a Blackstar HT 100 amp, and keep my Peavey as a backup these days. After seeing the amount of problems my friend has had with his Marshall, I steer clear of them.
I have been using a 2013 Purple Haze 40 for 5 years, gigged and rehearsed with it quite a few times, and hasn't let me down a single time. Bias was set correctly, had to barely adjust a couple of milliamps after 2 years of use. I have modded it slightly with the JCM800 mod, since it is allegedly very close to a JCM800 circuit (not sure if it's the 2204 or 2205) and it delivers those tones easily. Tubes are the original Marshall branded ones, the EL34's have a label 'Tube Amp Doctor selected'. The purple haze I think was some sort of goodbye to the Haze, since it was among the last Hazes sold. Marshall did get the problems worked out by then, because none of the problems I have read about have manifested themselves in my amp. I love mine, especially through a 2x12 V30 cabinet. Just wanted to add my experience with mine, am sorry to hear your buddy had less luck with his, since they are great workhorses for anything up to hard rock. Seems like the new Origin series aims for the same.
Made in Asia with cheapo components. When I opened the back to troubleshoot it I was alarmed to see just how crappy the power supply is on this amp. Looks like they wrapped it in some kind of paper. A timebomb. Avoid.
Well yes, they put a "special design Celestion " in this amp. They probably should add that it's for cost'cutting reasons since this Celestion Marquee is Made in China...
Hey buddy, that nasty humming sound your hearing in between licks and strums is a ground problem in the electronics of the guitar. I had a fender tele and had that same problem, I even replaced the pickups with some fender lace and still heard it. I finally figured it out it was the ground wire inside the guitar and electronics. You should fix that it sounds like shit! It might give people a bad impression of some otherwise great equipment you are reviewing! Im just sayin, after reading a few com
This guy has to have the weakest pickups ever made on that tele..i have this amp and on a live gig with a loud drummer can not turn this amp up more than 4 on volume. Its also by far the best amp out there for the money, bar none.
If you want a cleaner sound Do Not Buy a Marshall! Tired of salesmen playing Tele's bitching about the lack of a clean tone. Take your C&W gitfiddle and go home!
If you think this is awesome, you are kinda deft. It's OK if you are entry-level, but not "awesome"... if you know how (or even have played with one) a true all-tube amp sounds, you would not think this is "awesome". Noisy as hell, bad tone control, really cheap components, etc. The point is, for the same price, you can get something much better! Obviusly, in the case that you had to pay a lot of money for something better, picking this amp would not be such a bad choice. (I would prefer saving the money)...
Its much better than a valve state or the MG series... I agree its not a JCM but its 450 bucks. Personally I would go for the Orange Crush CR60C in that price range... Love the sound of it :)
4:38 Now that's a LOT of HUM !!!! Seeing/listening to this will remind me of using a footswitch which will allopw me to stay at a distance form the amp. Thanks a lot for your video !!!
i bought it a few days ago and im lovin it..

The Bright switch works on both channels.... Why does everyone get that wrong?
Tube amps with digital effects are awesome, who could hate that?

This guy has good chops! (sideburns that is)
Why would you have the GAIN Dimed on the Over drive channel? f
I forget witch demo vid , but someone did one and gets an AMAZING sound out of this amp with a vox saturater- makes me want to by one-soon
Great demo! haha what do you think sounds better in your opinion. a fender hot rod deluxe 3 or this?

Sorry i use this amp and it sounds good!!

good demo man
I play gigs in clubs all the time with my blues Jr and that's a 15W , so I don't know why yo couldn't with that?
nice rendition of cherub rock!
i love the marshall sound...

Installed an avatar hellatone 60 and some winged c sed tubes- new amp
@humbucker101 What do u think about the MHZ15 does it play loud enough to play in a club or something simular? Thanks in advance

Epic sideburns FTW
I'd take the Fender any day especially for gigs
I'm French, sorry for my English. I've just bought a Haze40 and I'm too happy, it's a great amplifier but too powerfull for house!!
Is a device exists to put the volume hight and hear a normal sound? Thank you
yes, a power soak!
On my Haze I use the JHS Little Black Box and at low volumes I don't lose any tone quality
Can anyone tell me how loud this is?
Very
uau! muito bom!
wow! very good!

Hey great review!!! one question... Can you use headphones with this amp???
No but there is a line out for emulated amp sound
Also You Shouldn't Turn the gain up to ten on any amp it just makesyour tone more muddy.... leave the gain at eight and use a boost pedal
Right. I have a fender super champ xd and a fender deluxe vm. both are tube with digital effects. both very nice amps.
Couldn’t ya even tune that guitar?
I get GREAT clean sounds from my Blackstar HT5R
He said $700 new- seem a bit pricey to me but that's my opinion, Steve
Eddie Van Halen ran all his knobs on 10 on his 70's Marshall JMP.
Who cares mate...
Mais bon Dieu...??? ils les trouvent leurs guitaristes ?????

Imagine with a gibson
@MrROTD I prefer tube amps with analog effects.
LOL
After 20 yeras of playing I am starting to dislike marshall sounds. Dont know why.
Tele sounds weak as hell.
Tune up you guitar man...
If you want a cleaner sound Do Not Buy a Marshall! Tired of salesmen playing Tele's bitching about the lack of a clean tone. Take your C&W gitfiddle and go home!
@turb0nix this is not a good video
Junk Marshall. don't get it!!!!
This amp can't possibley sound that shitty!
horrible... one of the worst tube amps out there... And it tends to have too much tech problems...
waht the!??!
really SIR?? the sound is awsome?
I have this am for quite some time... I am very happy with it. I have recently modded it and its even sweeter. Never had a technica issue with it
