our samsung Q60 stopped working after 28 months, the tech came out, tested and said the screen is bad, screen was black and tv was doing the on/off cycle. thank goodness for extended warranty. Took a month of going back and forth with samsung. Now just trying to decide between x80k sony or the 90k. I think for just evening movie watching the x80k will be good

X80k now supports 4k 120hz. I don't know if they updated the tv or if it's only on certain sizes, but I just bought the 85" x80k and it says it has 4k 120hz in the manual as well as labeled on hdmi 3 and 4 on the back of the tv. I tested it with a ps5 as well as laptop, and it works.

Hi Steve, Thank you for making these videos. They are very informative. I am having hard time deciding between Samsung 85” Q60B vs Sony 85” X80K. For some reason the other websites like rtings and reviewed have their results other way around. As per their tests Samsung ended up winning in darkroom and daylight setting. Do you think Samsung yields much better quality with their smart calibration feature? Please advise.

I actually purchased both of these TV’s and I will say if you like punchy saturated colors, I’ll chose the Q60B. Keep in mind they are a bit over saturated but I don’t mind it. The Sony X80 wasn’t soo bad either. The only reason I returned the Sony was because I had a bad panel. Dirty screen effect. But I actually returned both TV and got myself a Sony A80K OLED.

Glad I stumbled upon this video. I’m in the market for a budget tv for a guest bedroom as my older lg47le5400-uc suddenly stopped playing audio. Idk if it’s worth contacting a repair person to charge the amount of a budget tv. I’ll put it in my garage. I am not familiar with the Hisense and tcl models I see advertised and tend to sway to buy a more known brand like the Sony/ Samsung. I’m going to look into the 55inch versions for the guest bedroom. Would would you rec of the 2 for use on streaming using a Roku ultra in order to watch cable tv?

Why spend 700$ on a med grade tv -at best right now - when you could spend around 900$ on a flagship status quality tv in the mini led Hisense U8H? It blows these TVs out of the water! Big time. For only 200-300$ more. It’s a no brainer people. Hisense is killing it right now for the value. Put it right up next to the Samsung s95b or LG C2 and it’ll do just fine. Hangs with them no problem. Don’t over pay for a name! Your welcome. 🎤 drop

Though this is true. I have a Hisense U7G and it absolutely has to be the best LED tv I’ve ever owned. Setting it up next to my A80K OLED, it’s neck and neck! The ONLY thing I hate about it is it’s motion handling. Too much juddering/studder with panning shots. If Hisense can resolve this particular issue with their processing, they will be on top of the TV world.

I bought the Sony and then I turned it back in and bought the Samsung because I couldn't mirror my cell phone to the Sony. And I do a lot of mirroring because I don't have a ISP.

What phone do you have? I have no issues mirroring my phone to my X80K. Like Steve mentioned, try wifi direct. Or even Chromecast, Amazon TV Fire Stick, or Roku to mirror.

@@SonyEnthusiast my phone plan with T-Mobile is one where I get unlimited data. I get about 20 GB of Internet or hotspot. That hotspot provides very little time to watch movies. So I use the data part. I think what you and Steve are talking about is being able to hook up to the Internet with Wi-Fi. I don't do that. I just hook up with my data connection. I don't have an internet service provider like Cox or Infinity. And my ability to hook up to the internet with my T-Mobile service is limited. I think we're talking about the same thing data connection and internet connection. Internet connection requires Wi-Fi hotspot. Data connection does not. I wish I was wrong because I did like the Sony. I noticed that my Samsung q60 is a little washed out looking and it doesn't have adjustable backlighting.
