  • Swatching my new Procolours from Derwent, these I purchased to see how the combination of a strong point and smooth laydown, with a texture that has the covering power of wax but glides like an oil really feel.

    Hi Karen!! I am so happy you bought the Procolours, I have been wanting to try these, but everyone says they are so hard and the pigment is lacking. Going to sit back and watch now. 💖💖

      I have to play around with these before I give my opinion, but... they are hard and the pigment is lacking on the very light colors... I can use that to my advantage though. We will see 💖

    Great review! Good luck with the procolors I find them hard pencils but they do have a nice colour selection. Im glad I brought a few open stock to try them out first. But I do adore the coloursoft just wished they did more than 72 maybe one day they will add more colors.

    Thank you Karen,💖 that was very enlightening. I was very surprised when you said they felt softer than the Polychromos, after swatching them all, do you still think they are softer than the Poly’s? My hands are very weak, I think I will have to just try them, the darker colors seemed to have plenty of pigment. Thank you Karen, I really appreciated this video! 💖💖🙋🏻‍♀️

    I ordered a set of twelve Procolor pencils and I don’t use them. To me, they are as hard or harder than the Irojitin pencils, which are extremely hard. However, the Irojitin pencils are easier to put down and offer a better color payoff. In my opinion, the Procolers are nothing like the Polychromos in color or hardness. I know some people really like the Procolors but I can’t recommend them. If you want a harder pencil get the Polychromos.

      Annette Sonneson I usually do too except when I use them in my Johanna Basford coloring books. I once colored an entire picture in my Enchanted Forest with beautiful results. But I can’t get a thing out of the Procolors. I still think the Polychromos are a much better bet. Or, if you’re on a budget, the Lyra Rembrandt pencils work surprisingly well.

    Hi Karen, lovely to see another video from you. I recently added the 72 set of coloursoft to my collection and I’m so glad I bought those over the pro colour as personally I love soft pencils and find it difficult to colour with harder ones. Looking forward to seeing you use these two sets in your beautiful colouring. Just curious, could you please tell me exactly what sharpener you use? Thank you x

    Dear Karen, silly question but how do you tell a wax based pen from oil based one? What is different? Polys are wax, carandach oil, right? These are not secret mixtures of both etc?? Thank you.

    • @ZucchiniKitty
      @ZucchiniKitty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All pencils have a wax binder in them... it is the amount of wax that make them more wax then oil pencils. Prisma's have more wax then others, Polychromos pencils have an oil-based technology lead for blending smoothly without the concern of waxy bloom. Caran d'Ache Lumi's ared a soft, wax-based pencil, they deliver an insane amount of pigment, they are super bright and opaque.

    • @ZucchiniKitty
      @ZucchiniKitty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would get the one you like the feel for, you will use them more... I have not fallen for the Procolours yet... I think I perfer the colorsofts... I don't have the lightfast...

    • @RamoArt
      @RamoArt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you like how the Lightfast pencils feel you will probably like Caran d'ache Luminance as well and they have most of the unique Procolour colors.
      The only problem is that Lightfast and Luminance are quite opaque. I don't know of any brand that has the beautiful Procolour color palette and the same translucent qualities.

    • @TCHARRISON1
      @TCHARRISON1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can highly recommend Derwent Inktense, both the Pencils and the Blocks. They are so vibrant and easy to use. You can use them wet or dry and the colours are so juicy and lovely. They can also be used on fabric etc. I have done a few videos using Inktense which you can watch if you are interested. T C 😄

    • @Mrsbooklover
      @Mrsbooklover 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would highly recommend Inktense (they are meant to be used with water) and the coloursoft, those two are my favourite sets from Derwent.

    • @ZucchiniKitty
      @ZucchiniKitty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derwent pencils, like the Polychromos they are a harder pencil with wonderful pigment if you like to layer really pretty too. Derwent Inktense are a water soluble ink based pencil very fun to use. The Coloursoft are a soft pencil with deeper colors bit of a challenge to blend but are beautiful. Not recommending these yet... have not played with them enough... hope that gives you some help, is there a set you wanted more info on?

    • @judyortiz5745
      @judyortiz5745 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ZucchiniKitty Yes the inktense got my attention. Are they easy to work with? I know you need to mindful of the amount of water you use. Do they blend nicely. And do you have a link to them so I can help support you ? Thank you for your reply.

    • @maryellenthompson8261

      Judy Ortiz I have a set of Inktense that I use every time I want to color with a water soluble medium. I also have a set of Derwent watercolor pencils, but once I discovered the Inktense I got spoiled. In other words, I like them very much and highly recommend them. Also, I also have the Coloursoft and like them very much. In my opinion, they compare the most closely to the Prismacolors. I hope this helps.
