    This was legitimately phenomenal. I’m a 6 year E5 Security Forces member looking to cross train to TACP and you guys absolutely kill it with the knowledge sharing. Beyond grateful for this podcast, keep doing what you’re doing. Thank you all.

      @@huittonbuley1710 If your're a 6year contract trying for a SPECWAR job: The spring/summer of your 3rd year is your window.
      If overseas: January/February are the worst DEROS' to have if you want to try and crosstrain. Try and extend DEROS to summer time.

    This podcast is becoming the pinnacle of relevant AFSO resources!
    Potentially speaking on behalf of the community, could the crew cover SR in-depth (SR apprenticeship phase, attrition rates, avg. mission duration, etc.) because there is minimal information available regarding SR beyond Trent's interview on Brian's channel.
    Thank you guys so much! Not only are you all helping aspiring AFSO, but I think the podcast also increases appreciation for what you all do.

    Thanks for making this video! This upcoming August is when I get to hit the button to attempt to retrain. Having all this extra information about the careers, A&S, at home life, and what is expected out of you makes cross training seem even more worth it!

  • @howsmyrunning

    Appreciate y’all putting this together - there really isn’t enough information/talks like this about retraining and what to expect aside from the paperwork required. I’d love to see more info as well in detail around the retraining process and expectations for NCOs coming into these jobs! Like the down to dirt things you would expect an NCO to study beforehand - for example when we left DEP for BMT they told us to study rank/ chain of command/etc ... what are those pre studies that would positively aide in the process.

    • @OnesReady
      @OnesReady  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no required studies you need to take regarding medical, radios, ATC, or anything like that. We wouldn't recommend you do it anyway as we want to train you how we need you to be.

      Bad Decisions Corona and a divorce is how it went, I’m still waiting for this divorce to finalize and then I’ll need a waiver for the divorce but I’m still working out every single day. I do the 10 week marine raiders fitness app. It’s basically putting yourself thru selection, I rucked 6 miles with a 50lb ruck yesterday.

    I went to a couple DEP developments to find out I absolutely suck at swimming and need to work on it. Couple swim lessons later I decided I didn’t want to wait and went with another enlisted job. Leaving in a few days for basic. Really hoping to cross train in a few years. (It’s been a couple months since I booked my job. Pretty sure if I just dedicated this time to swim every other day or so I’d be passing the PAST and not too far away from being where I need to be, but oh well :))

    In all honesty, I had no clue AF had SOFs. There is little talk about them outside of PJs compared to Green Berets and SEALs. But having watched a lot of different channels about SOF, I think AF 24th tact division are about the best. Mainly because they have to serve with all the other SFs across all branches. Others don’t do that. SEALs serve with SEAL teams and so on. AF 24th have to do it all.

    Are all PJ's going to the special tactics course at Pope, and Hurlbert now? I know that there have been alot of changes at AFSOC, just was wondering if they were finally going to be completely trained up for Sts integration, like the CCT'S, and Special Recon guys.

    Could you go more in depth on the topic of the leadership aspect of selection phase and being an NCO as a new operator? I'll be honest it's a joke how easy it is to make rank in some career fields. Should I try to get myself demoted so I'm on the level I should be for the spec ops community? Haha

      They mention TACP several times in this video, but as the guy above me said, it’s different from the other 3. Go to the Air Force website and compare their training pipelines. TACP, for example, don’t go to A&S. It makes sense that they wouldn’t always lump the four together because 3 of them have very similar pipelines while TACP’s is fundamentally different.
