- Today I’m building this 1971 Dodge Demon 340 by MPC.
This one went together very fast and easy. It looks great when it is finished as well. With three possible build options of Stock, Custom, or Drag. Or, you can mix and match the parts and build something in between.
I hope that you enjoyed watching this video as much as I did building the kit.

I agree, that tire and wheel combo really sets it off, great looking build!
Thank you!
That is a great looking build!!!
Thank you! It really did turn out pretty nice, not show quality, but nice...
Great looking build, love the color! Thanks!
Thank you! I am glad that I had a change of mind on that color. I think that it turned out a lot better than the pink would have.
Looks great
Thank you
Built a lot of these kits, when I was a kid!
I built a few of these when I was a kid as well! Just haven't seen many around lately and was kind of giddy when R2 re-released it.
Sweet
Nicely done
Thank You
Sweet build 🤙🏼
Thank You!
Really sorry to hear about your family. Great job on the Demon, love the color combination.
Thank you! It really has been difficult when there were three within a 7 week period... As far as the color goes... I'm glad that I went with this color and not the other one.
Looks awesome! Welcome back!
Thank you!
Your second choice on the color was better in my opinion! You made the kit look great!
Thanks! I was on the fence about that first choice when I made it. Two minutes after that segment was shot I changed my mind on the color. I am glad that it turned out the way that it did. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a decent kit, you overcame the challenges well. Great color choice, much better than the orange on the box :D
Thank you! It isn't a perfect kit but it does pretty well. I sometimes will go with the box art colors but usually I tend to go my own way with the colors. This one is a close match to an actual factory color. I don't recall the name but I had come across a lot of them in my Google image search for the car. I figured that a lot of people went with the orange like the box art and I decided to be different. I just might pick up another and do it in that pink after all...
It was Tickled Pink I do believe. It is your model do it your way. 🐎Mr.ED Says just have fun modeling
I agree!
Very nice build. The stripe package was an option on the 71 Demon 340s so you could buy one with none of the stripes. Also, the hood scoops and spoiler were options.
Thank You! I remember seeing these on the streets when I was a kid. I liked the stripes that came on them back then but I wanted to do this one without them. I was on the fence about them while I was building this kit and I think that it came out pretty cool looking even without the stripes. All of the car manufacturers back then offered up "dress up" options for the cars they sold and most of them really looked great with the striping packages. Those options are a thing of the past. Nowadays, you don't see anything like what was being produced back then. Those were the good ole days...
great video, i painted mine hemi orange and decals like on box stock.- i know what you mean about the back wheels being forward had to fix that bs.
Thank you! I had considered Hemi Orange for a bit. Then it was the Hot Pink and later settled for the Aquamarine.
@@scaleautoguysworkbench that clour you ended up with is a nice colour - i like it myself
Sorry to hear Prayers 🙏🙏
Thank You! There were three in about a 7 week period.
Chrysler’s flushed addition had Dodge girls “tickled pink” and blew the doors off those Pepto Bismol Mary Kay Caddys. Panther Pink (known as Moulin Rouge to
I wasn't really 100% sold on the pink for that car. So, I ended up with this one and I like it better.
I have seen other video here they kit bash two types of kits one using the chassis and the body from the other kit.
I have seen those as well. I don't remember what the other kit was that they used but it did have a totally different front end suspension setup. This kit was "dumbed" down to seemingly make it easier to build I guess. As I stated in the video, I generally build box stock. Sometimes I will throw in a different set of wheels or tires and even the occasional engine here and there. I generally draw the line at trying to take two kits and making one due to the cost and the lack of experience on my part. I have tried to do that in the past and experienced utter failure and the demise of two innocent kits. The only real success I have had kit bashing is when I did a resin body build. Now, that one did turn out really nice!
I have to agree with some modeler's opinions on the lackluster details on some of these kit designs! This is a basic, beginner kit, more likely a skill level #1 or 2. Not very much chassis and suspension details, which makes the kit, kinda, "meh!" In my opinion! Comes with 2 metal axles, to make it a really nice toy car 🚗 to play with, once built!
There have been a lot of lackluster kits being produced lately. Especially, the AMT Craftsman series kits. This one at least had separate exhaust and rear suspension from the chassis. This one only came with one metal axle but still rolls around nicely! I was just playing with it when I decided to check my comments. LOL
