Interesting discussion, the only point I take issue with is from a legal perspective of the word “should”. Should is not a definitive statement of what is required legally, it is a suggestion, and anything from our friends at the FAA that is legally only a suggestion is understood by most to be a requirement even though legally it is not. I grounded myself years ago regarding my own situation. I personally felt my condition was not safe in the cockpit regardless of being able to get a 3rd class medical. If I ever get back to where I meet my safety standards I will probably start training again, but not until. You have to respect others more than your personal desire to fly.
Hey, great videos I love the information just one thing I notice you said people might buy a Cessna 140 and fly under light sport rules. As of right now now a c140 does not qualify under light Sport. Hopefully after the mosaic rules change but I believe they are at 1450 gross weight for the C140.
Thanks for the info. I just turned 65 and I want to learn how to fly but light sport only. I have about 10 hours of lessons flying a 172 from years past but I'm no longer interested in getting my private pilots license. What medical do I need to have completed. I'm in very good health so I'm sure I could get a 3rd class medical but the question I have is, can I learn on a basic medical. What do I need !!! Following...

Great information!
The nice thing is that you can simultaneously hold both a Class III and BasicMed at the same time.

Looks like you are right, there is one on my field that I swore the guy said he was light sport, perhaps not, thanks for watching.

Light Sport might work for you, talk to a light sport CFI, good luck.
