I think young Shang Tsung in the portal is the original one. But it’s kinda interesting he is not beaten by the first Kung Lao, it’s directly killed in the open field, not in a tournament, by Liu Kang, who by the way has not “gore fatality” in the original first game. And that’s important because Kung Lao was the one who stopped the invasion when Tsung was about to get 10 victories, so Liu Kang is changing the very core of the MK’s fate. Plus Hanzo is alive and Edenia seems free from Khan’s invasion. It’s like my man Liu has erased the seeds of the original character’s fate, Scorpions vengance, Kung Lao’s fate against Goro, Mileena and Kitana rivalry for the throne… But at the same time I feel weird somehow about this, like maybe this is “too perfect” and we know things doesn’t work that way in MK’s universe. 😅 So I kinda agree with you, maybe Shang Tsung is the main protagonists because Liu Kang has made the same mistake Kronika did, a perfect world.
great video! keep up the good work! i agree with most of your theories besides the raiden and mileena ones. i think it is unlikely mileena with be good- just because she was created for evil intentions and it wouldn't make sense for liu kang to allow mileena to live or create her since her and kitana hated mileena so much. but again who knows. i also think that liu kang will try to get raiden his powers back rather than fight with him. other than that i agree that liu kang will struggle to keep the peace and that will be the main conflict besides shang tsung being a devious little rascal. as for the kameo fighters...i am disappointed. i absolutely loathed the tag assist towers in mk11 and ofc- they seem to be the core gameplay now. in my opinion it seems like a cop out way for more characters to be included but have less work needed to put them in the game. it will be so sad to see a character we really wanted to play as be reduced to a background character that shits out a move and scurries away. i don't know...i have a bad feeling and i'm really hoping they will still include 2v2 tag team and classic 1v1 fighting. i really can't imagine why nrs would think unplayable characters would make fans happy... :/
I def agree, I think if the kameos are the main fighting mechanic it's gonna be horrible. I can almost guarantee it'll mostly consist of female characters too.
