Wow mister mini bike mike you are truly a savior of Honda ct70’s love watching your fabulous and fabrications of builds , my farther always sed ingenuity and he did some impossible stuff 👍
had the same issue with the shock mount breaking on my CT70. ended up cutting the whole thing out of the frame and had a machine shop make a new one. then welded back in. luckily has been solid ever since.
A bar through the bike for both rear shocks, a Honda thing. One side holds the exhaust too, metal fatigue and confirmed in another comment. Solid repair and happy trails but losing weight on back for the sixty mile trail might be a good thing (IMHO). Be Safe! ...there in spirit. @@MiniBikeMike
Mike take a look at a dorman 31001. its a shock mount repair kit, you can pick it up at most auto part stores. not sure if they come in different sizes, but you'll get the idea.
A comment on the shock mount… if you still would want to revisit it to straighten up the shock, you could sleeve over the break area you welded to reinforce it and a then weld on both ends of the sleeve to the rod. Just “another way to skin a cat” !!
@@donsoule6411 I’m ok with the shock leaning in at the top. If I sleeve another piece over it, I’ll need to find shocks with a bigger eyelet to fit over whatever sleeve I’d use. I’m hoping this fix will get me to W.V. and back.
@@MiniBikeMike Guess I missed the fact that the break was right at the shoulder of the shock fit. I realize now, to sleeve over the break and maintain the diameter you’ve used, the larger diameter would need to be ground down, then a sleeve with an outer diameter for the shock to fit over could be welded to the frame. Other than that, I have a stripped CT-90 donor frame I could offer you.
@@donsoule6411 I’ve got several ST90 frames, some the same color, if I wanted to swap parts over. I feel like this fix is plenty strong and plan to leave it and ride it.
@@MiniBikeMike I messed up again… the frame I offered is a ST-90. I’ve been getting three CT-90s ready for my cousins and I to take up north, near Honor where you and the guys went through a few months ago. So, I’ve got CT-90 burned into my brain. Those 90cc engines are definitely a “different animal” than our 72cc and the Lifan engines.
Going solo on this one… Brave Man !! Hopefully some followers will meet up with you and do a few miles with you. Sure wish I could, SE Michigan is just a bit too far away from this route to consider that. Were you able to reach out to some folks as contacts along the way… just in case ??

@@zachsiebers5742 Saturday, Sept 21st Case, WV Kick stands up at 10:00am 60 mile +/- loop, starting and ending at the Cass Train Station parking lot. It’s not a incredibly challenging route, but definitely not just an easy ride on all paved roads. As stated in the video, it took the two of us 5+ hours to ride the route, with a short lunch break and a couple sight seeing stops.

Mike with interest in watching your channel you have mentioned using NIBBI 22mm carb, looking at amazon they show the carb which applies to many different bikes, atv's ect. would you please provide item no. or other data that may be helpful in order to purchase the correct carb for my 1972 CT 70 equipped with the lifan 125. thanks
