Hutch you have always had great attention to detail this has been a treat to follow you!! I’ve bought several shirts from your page .. I like them and wanted to help also.. you are the gold standard for details on the build and I’ve followed your instructions for my 87 442 build also. Thanks for sharing and keep up the work.. wish you had a fund my work account id donate for the value I have received!!
I'm very thankful for you and your work on TH-cam. I have a 1968 Cutlass and am considering your example for my car. I'm trying to gather the information about your build so I can begin gathering parts. I love how you are customizing things for your build and not just buying bolt- on accessories. More power to you.
This is a fun build to watch. I appreciate your time and effort to film it Hutch. Too bad the algorithms don't put you out there. I'm sure there are plenty of others who would enjoy this build as well.
Good looking valve covers and a really good looking 455! I have an Olds 350 from a '79 Delta 88 in my black '83 Cutlass Supreme Brougham but I have a 350 from a '69 Cutlass with the #5 heads that I was planning to build for it since it's almost double the horsepower, but now I really want to find an early Olds 455. Being my daily I might regret it but I really want that 500 ft. lbs. of torque.
You are adding to all of our knowledge base. My father did this engine when I was a child and watched and was a tool runner. So I am reliving this with more wisdom. Thank you, you are reaching us and we appreciate it.
hey @hutchhiperf looking really good so far, trust me OLDS guys will notice the valve cover lettering has been relocated for sure!! Hey little tip on when you're wanted to spread just a thin skim coat of silicon on parts/gaskets run over to your local Harbor Freight and grab a bag of those plumbers acid brushes, and you can toss them after using since they're very cheap. (like $3 for 36) Helps keeps the silicon off the gloves and tips of your fingers, etc.. keep up the great work!
Hi Hutch, I enjoy your videos. My Sweetheart and I still own the 1st car that we got after getting married. A 1970 442 W-30. Anyway I sending this note to you to say that if you look at your intake manifold about 1" down from the carb mounting area. You will see the parting line where additional material was added to increase the height of your manifold. If you clean up that area and then sand blast that area you can hide the imperfections and open up the possibilities of clearcoating your intake.
You’re doing a great job Hutch, been watching the last couple years and went back to catch up on your videos. Can’t wait for the next one, but we understand.
It's funny I found your page. I bought one of your shirts years ago. Not even sure where I got it from. But anyway. I am not sure if you have discussed it in one of your videos or not. But what are you doing for induction on the intake. Dual throttle bodies or carbs? I am thinking pretty much the same on my 67 and want the dual holley throttle body system. But great work you are doing on the car.
Thanks for the shirt buy! I'm going with dual Edelbrock 650's. Here's a link to a vid of me fiddling with the air cleaner and carb linkage. th-cam.com/video/-v_Yi6PF92M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1YGhMvtnv5c_ouMF

Slow and steady wins the race. Take your time and do it right. Another great video!
Thank you my friend.
Nice job. I enjoy your videos. BTW what master cylinder is that your using?
It' from a 99-03 ish S-10 Blazer. I show the part number here th-cam.com/video/YOvZBPu6N9U/w-d-xo.html
I think you will have oil leak issues with just silicone for the spacers…🤔
@@knightridersofgreece guess we're going to find out eventually. A lot of guys post they did it this way, so who knows.

Those are 1973 valve covers
Good call. They were a 73 - early 74 only (leftovers) valve cover.
Are you going to paint the intake?
Yes. I may have no choice. I'm going to smooth some of the rough casting around the carb mountings. Painting will hide some of that.
