Another great video shared by Sifu Sergio. Thank you.
The average person is a user of mastered skills. That doesn’t mean he or she is actually a “Master”. A Master is somebody who can do something better than everyone else.
Sifu Sergio and all his guests are constantly refining their skills, aka masters. Few of us have the time, money and lack of responsibilities to be able to travel to different parts of the world and live there for extended periods of time to study and learn. Not to mention you also need a passive income and in some Third World countries it can be dangerous with high crime and low income and where traffic rules and regulations are merely a suggestion.
When looking at the thumbs down and reading the negative comments I am reminded of the video of Danny Inosanto at the Smithsonian demonstrating the history of Filipino martial arts. At the end of the video he’s interviewed and he shares the most important lesson he learned from his father when his father took him to visit different masters. “My father said shut your mouth and open your mind. Don’t say oh I know this or I learned this already”.
Wing Chun is unique. At the higher levels it’s not about the physical kung fu. WC gives us a template to live our lives more efficiently and fluidly with less friction.
WC is always about doing the first best thing first. Not the second or third best thing first. WC is about risk management. That’s one of the ways we judge what is the best thing. The fastest most efficient direct and safe way to get the job done and get the most for your money and effort.
In WC we don’t necessarily directly teach you anything, rather we “ introduce you” to a person, place or thing and then you build the relationship from there. Understand the “ Little idea” of anything and you have grasped the essence of it.
There is a stage in the dummy training where you learn “To Play the dummy for self”. In essence every person will individualize and personify the Wing Chun keyed in to their basic needs.
By using the WC template you transcend the physical kung fu and can see the “Wing Chun” in any other martial art. You can use it to evaluate decisions and choices you make in your own personal life. “Boy that wasn’t Wing Chun.” Or, “wow this was just pure Wing Chun!”
In the end Wing Chun is all about “Point of contact”. 🙏🏼

Thanks for the video. Some of those lineages I won’t get to study but I have an opportunity to do Ip Chun and Wong Sheung Leung lineages at the same time. I’m trying to keep each separate and not cross over when in class with one or the other Sifu. Will keep my mind open cheers guys

Well even in the same IP Man lineage there are differences with the masters what they focus on and the way they express and teach. Also each person/student is different in the way they learn, how serious do they take their practice and that is vast too..some have more talent. Whether your fast or a slow learner a good teacher will guide you step by step. I would say in my own personal training development I have gone from practicing hard to soft, first I only saw it as a fighting Art now it`s a universal method that can be applied to all things, with skill and economy. It helps me with so many tasks in life I will share soon.

Lama Dondrup Dorje, or dr Yeung. Does he have the highest level of Tai/chi Kung/fu? He doesn’t even have to physically touch the opponents. There is a video clip called “the Heatt Sutra” from him. Look it up, very interesting. Can you elaborate on that Sifu by commenting on this? The reason why I bring this up is because Lama Dondrup Dorje also practices Wing Chun and Tai Chi. Even though the lineages may be totally different, I believe that Sifu Sergio will reach this level also.

I absolutely loved the video!! Thanks that was great! Thank you Sifu Sergio and all of the other instructors!!!! I’ve heard many people talk about this style is better than this style in Wing Chun. And that ends up bringing politics in the equation! Stuff that I’ve never cared about what other people say or think! I just love training every day!! If you train hard and you are very passionate and love what you’re doing that is the only secret that I know!! I have trained on my wooden dummy many times, many times for 24 hours straight and my skill level went through the roof! I really love Wing Chun with all my heart!!!!!! I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Most people are not educated enough that’s what the problem is! Thanks again I really enjoyed the video!!! Lots of love and respect to you and the other Wing Chun Master!!!!!!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙏❤️

I love you Sifu!! I’m a black sash student under Grand Master Felix Leong! I got to my 1st degree instructor’s level under Grand Master Felix but I didn’t sit for my instructors level and he offered me 3 times to sit my for my 1st degree instructor’s level but I was pig headed!! As a black sash student I could slap everyone around easily!!! I guess it doesn’t look good if a black sash student can easily beat his 1st and 2nd and his 3rd degree instructor’s around and Grand Master Felix Leong as well!! Yeah fucked up!! I was to busy perfecting my fighting style! And yes I still haven’t been beaten since and that was in 2000 to 2002! I’ve been training every day since!! I train to kill people my fights don’t last any longer than 2 seconds!!! If I touch someone’s hands or if they throw punches at me I use a different approach to hand to hand combat!! I perfected my self defence first! If someone is slower than me I over power them with speed! If someone is stronger than me I use proper technique to overcome there strength! But that hasn’t happened yet so I feel like I pick on people!!! So I don’t do that much! If I’m faster than someone and they can’t stop me I can show them great skil!!!!!! With out hurting anyone!!!! You can talk to my Grand Master Felix Leong any time just call him if you think that I’m full of shit!!!!! I train every day for at least 10 hours a day!! And yes I am getting a little bit older, I’ll be 50 years old next year but to be honest I really don’t feel older than 25!!!!!!! I taught my self the butterfly knife system and I’ve paid a lot of people to try and cave my head in with metal poles!! They don’t last long!! I train on my wooden dummy for at least 24 hours straight at least once every week!! And I still haven’t seen any one do the same!!!! I train in boxing, Muay Thai and Wing Chun!!! I’ve trained in the Eagle Claw system, Praying Mantis System, White Craine and Tai Chi!!!!! I don’t have enough time in the day to train on everything so I just train in Wing Chun! That’s where my heart is!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing all of your thoughts!!! Lots of love and respect Sifu!!!! 😀😀😀🙏❤️

It's funny, Wing Chun seems to be in decline here the US. The caliber of "Sifus" seems to be waning. I think Sifu Sergio may be on the right path by bringing in practitioners and letting them express their views. However, the test of any martial art is in it's effectiveness. To be able to utilize Wing Chun people are going to have to know what Wing Chun is and how to apply it. In Judo, Wresling, and BJJ it is throwing and ground work. In Boxing it's using the fist, Savate and Karate fist with a enficious on kicking. Wing Chun needs a definition as to what it's purpose is. What's it's utility is, then the style can be refined and regain some of it's lost popularity. Yip Man movies aren't going to be enough. The current interpretation as a boxing style isn't working. Walk into a boxing gym and you'll find out why.
