I think he meant that the Albatross is the biggest bird on the planet capable of flight, the Ostrich is the biggest bird on the planet whether it be on land, sea or air.

This job is really great, but there is also a lot of challenges like watching animals getting killed or eaten by their predators but the people can't help them since they will mess up the cycle of life and will cause chaos.
My only problem is the video is too short. I want to see more of these.

I didn't realise the wandering albatross is so fascinating! I was so shocked and sad to see them being trapped by the fish hooks - and also remembering that they might have a life-long mate waiting for them and wondering when they will be back.

I am a Retired Mariner; used to do Pacific route on general cargo ships 1965- 1974 We used to see these birds always Some times rest on out Mast heads high up Most inspiring sight of size and Flying over the vast expanse of the Pacific on days end on and gliding often just above surface Beautiful

An Albatross was seen in the Faroe Islands for the first time since 1860 4 weeks ago.
That one from 1860 joined the gannets that nest here, and followed them for 34 years.
We are really excited to see if this one is going to do the same. He is already flying amongst the gannets.

One the greatest of or probably , most faithful, committed birds on earth they are my favorite....they are more loyal and committed to their mate more than humanity to their own people..... it's a shame though.... that humanity are making birds more faithful them.

This was amazing, as was the host. I just wish they would have included the prpgress of egg protection, hatching, and the raising of baby albatross. Beautiful creatures.
The first time I learned about the albatross was when I was a kid probably 10 years old or younger. It was a song by Iron Maiden called Rime of the Ancient Mariner, that song was based off a poem written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge of the same name that introduced me to the amazing birds. It was because of that song and poem that I learned great respect for the albatross.

These amazing birds were recently renamed as the Snowy Albatross, forming part of the wandering albatross "species complex" including the Antipodean albatross, Tristan albatross and Gibson's Albatross. Even so, I love them all, and consider them my favourite flying birds. Incredible to think that some of the Snowys circumnavigate the Southern Ocean three times in just 12 months!

I loved living there from 1970 thru the end of 1973. My dad stationed there. He. A naval officer. I went to george cannon school starting at 4th grade. The very 1st morning there I was amazed all the fairy terns and albatross the loud. Noise they make courting in large groups. I wished I under stand about the war. I remember the rusty wreckage of fighter planes scattered along the shoreline at the end of the airstrip my dad calls it rusty bucket. Please anyone correspond with me. Jaci

Oh-I forgot to mention that the Monterey Aquarium has a Laysan Albatross that cannot fly. She is sensitive so doesn't like a lot of visitors bugging her. But on a calm day, she will come out so people can admire her. I believe she is named after Pele, the fire goddess' younger sister, Hi'iaka.
