It is known that his SR drops massively and loses his wicket to spin more often than before. He changed his technique and that has led to him become more suspect.

I think it's time Indian cricket fans stop looking at these big match players as idols and assess them based on their true cricketing ability. If they're not performing then their names not necessarily should be on the playing XI. Look at England and Australia who has won ICC tournaments consistently last few years. They've grown past their ICC trophy winning captains (Morgan, Finch) and did not cling on to them just because they've won them trophies. If they're able to let go of them then BCCI has way more job to do. Stop worshipping players and judge them based on their current cricketing form and records in International matches because ICC tournaments are not like IPL where they get to play only within India.
These big match players almost never feel the heat of losing ICC tournaments because they know for sure that their contracts will be renewed (every year or until they retire) with the same salary no matter the result of ICC tournaments but it's not that way for the rookies in the team. Their performance has to be reviewed ever year and their salaries should be down graded (not from 7cr to 5cr but a 50% drop) or contracts cancelled if they've not been able to perform or win ICC trophies despite providing all benefits. I'm sure it will create a sense of insecurity among these big match players. Imaging these guys are paid 5-7 crores annually and an average person in India gets paid 0.20% of this amount. Let that sink in. I may sound jealous and i don't care but it really concerns me about how all our tax money is put into play.
Do BCCI have the balls to cut the annual pay for these big match players for 2023-24 contracts because they didn't win any ICC trophy during 2022-23?
