I myself practice TM everyday. I have been practicing for about two years now. It's a fantastic meditation. But my teacher in India was genuine he didn't charge me heavily for a simple mantra. I only offered him whatever I could. Thankful to him.

Just imagine what it would be like if Bob Roth's organization had a contract to teach mediation to every public school student in a state in Mexico?

Just imagine what it would be like if the government of Ecuador just signed an agreement to have the TM organization train 2,000 public school teachers to become TM teachers by the end of this year?
Just imagine if the governments of many different Latin American countries contracted to have many tens of thousands of soldiers learn to meditate and practice in a group for world peace?

Somebody who does TM said the mantra is no big deal, just make up your own. It's just supposed to be a sound that does not trigger memories (or thoughts, etc.)
The huge fee for the mantra is just a money maker. Keeps them in business, but for many people it stops them from doing Meditation.
Look up how to meditate, and choose any method that works for you. Make up a sound mantra that doesn't remind you of anything. Start. Watch Joe DISPENZA TH-cam videos also. 😊👍👍

Hi, you cannot make matra of your own. I mean you can for a month or two. After that you have to get real.
About paying somebody, you need not to pay anybody for mantra. You can search online for them . Its the sanskrit pronunciation that you should pay for. Proper pronunciation of mantras are hard.
Best mantra, and easiest, is AUM. Please find a good video teaching how to pronounce it. You will be good to go within 500 - 1000 practices.

My biggest gripe about accessing Transcendental Meditation (at least in my area) is that they have these mini-seminars. And they invite you in and get you interested .... then the TM coach wants a $1K investment to show you the rest. This obviously cuts out a certain population that cannot afford it.

You are right, most people only think about exercising the body, some exercise the mind, but very few people think about exercising the spirit. When you perform Qigong you are exercising the mind, body, and spirit.

I’m my experience TM works up to a point. It is a good tool for stress and anxiety but it’s not magic. If you have to do other things to feel better such as exercising, staying sober, getting busy and so on you’d still have to do those things. In other words, TM is not a “miracle cure” so to speak as some believe it is. Plus keep in mind you have dedicate 25 mins or so twice a day “forever” in order for this technique to supposedly work properly. Not to mention almost $1,000 for the initial course. Again, I can only speak for my myself. In conclusion, the technique seems to promote calmness and so on but it’s not as amazingly purportedly to work. It’s not magic, it’s another tool in the box to use if desired.

I wonder what per centage of TM students keep up meditating on their mantra a year later...2 years layer? There ate amazing testimonials from celebrities like Seinfeld and Ellen, but I also know and know of many people who didn't keep going with it -- the Beatles for instance. Mantra meditation is surely a valid practice, but no better than zazen, vipassana, mental noting and other practices that you don't need to pay $1000 to learn.

I paid $15 per class on a per-session basis, and it is the best investment I have made in myself. It changed my life. It is not easy to learn how to do it on your own, it takes focus and persistence, so I recommend getting a teacher for some time, but when you practice it often - for me, it's ten minutes a day- it is energizing, calming, cleansing, and can be more restoring than sleep.

TM is basically mantra japa dhayana...and it's available to all..they shouldn't be charged.for it...plus although Hinduism was never a religion...it is important for one seeking spiritual path to learn about the 8 limbs like prtyahara asana etc and learn the Hindu philosophy to truly change the world and at least themselves in a meaningful way
