as a big fan of last airbender the shows alright but it does feel rushed to me. i feel they cut a little too much and many characters miss the growth you see in the original so many characters just seem one sided. I like some of the world building aspects the did tho and the cities look great
They skipped over kataras and sokkas character growth entirely, katara especially just feels like a super bland feminist bullshit water master who masters water breathing just because she's the only female lead in the story
@@C5ndleyeah they dont show katara being the "mother" of the group and having to fight to learn. everytime its breath and focus and boom she can do it. sokka not having his ego and misogyny checked doesnt let him grow into a leader. same with aang not really seeming like a kid who wants to do dumb things with his friends like penguin sledding and ride the elephant koi doesnt show him having to mature fast and him coming to terms that he really does have to save the world and he wasnt able to do it 100 years before. a lot of the emotional scenes are bogged down by them skipping the parts that make you care about the characters
@@C5ndleI dont fully agree, they didnt skip them but changed their arcs. Sure, Kataras growth is bland but they had a little with the “remember your mother for how she was, not how she went.” thought process and that restricting her bending abilities. And then Sokkas was changed from covering his doubts in himself by having an ego (ie. the misogyny, the self aggrandizing, etc.) and that blowing up in his face time and time again to allow him moments to be vulnerable, to just being straight up doubts he has what it takes to be a good leader. He gets multiple moments of showing traits that he has that can be used to become a better leader and other noticing that about him. There was a little growth there, and yes it wasn’t emphasized as much as the OG, but they still had some growth. But also let’s remember, this is just season 1. They still have plenty of growth to go by the end of season 3 for even the OGs standards.
@@s0pa325Its not that they didnt have the growth in this show but that it was just changed. Not saying its for the better but they all do show a little growth. Kotara (who I agree has the least growth) may not have had the “motherly traits” and to fight AS HARD to learn (in an overcoming the female expectations pov), but she still has to fight to learn by being self taught and (pulling a page out of OG Irohs book with the lighting redirection) by learning skills for her bending by seeing what earth benders did. Sokka may not have the misogyny or the same level of an ego, but he still has the self doubt in himself that he has what it takes to be a good leader. And there are a few moments he gets to show that he in-fact does have some necessary traits and is a better leader than he believes himself to be. Aang didn’t have the “you need to grow up” arc, but he still learns the necessity of him to master his skills to be the Avatar by coming to a realization of the horrors of war, how he wouldnt have been able to make a difference even if he did stay 100 years ago, the after effects on everyone of him not being there for the past 100 years, and how he wont be able to mitigate that until he finishes his training. Its not the same arcs as the OG, even being less impactful due to the subpar writing, but they are still growth arcs for it only being season 1. Theres potential with them for season 2 since I think the writers did a good job with Zukos arc as well as Azulas even if its to a lesser extent. But we’ll have to wait and see if they actually take in the criticisms and adjust or continue as is.
i think the show is alright. Its better than i expected actually. We cant expect to see all the characters growth in the live action cause it would be too long. They edited the storyline but i think it fits. The storyline may have changed a bit but the original goal is still there. And the comedic part of the original work was still there and i think the jokes always landed. The actors also did a very good job and i like the fight scenes too. The 3 has a good dynamic and also iroh and zuko. They put all the tiny details in there like with bumi (the grunt, the lisp) and in omashu (the man with cabbages). When i heard *my cabbages!*, that was so satisfying 😅😊
I read one sentence/review about it that was so true. “The new show is nowhere near the failure of the film, nor as spectacular as the series - but it's not of uniform quality, either.” It's decent i must say, i would give it a 6.8/10, it has some problems in the dialogues (they explain to much background in them) but i believe that it will be fixed by season 2, since there's no need to explain anything with the context of season 1. I liked that they showed things that we haven't seen like the fight between the Air Nomads and the Fire Nation, VFX is far better than the Movie's, and the cast looks cool, they are compromised with the job, but there's something about Azula that i dont see her as her, idk why. Making Toph will be quite a challenge, since her bending is quite advanced and very different to the earthbending that we saw in the series, her VFX will be expensive ass fvck! 🤣
I was scared when seeing that they made another live action, but I'm happy that it turned out to be good. And thank you sooooo much for getting me into Tiny Rogues. One of the best games I've ever played
For an 11 year old when it was first shot, he did pretty good. I just wish they could have CGI some of his zany facial expressions from the cartoon. Can't remember which episode in season one when he was on the ship going from room to room. he interrupts one and as he exits, he's like " SORRRRRRRRY" with his lips stretching. I died laughing.
@@Ben-zg8xk dude, i'm begging you to watch episode 6. say what you want about the rest of the series, but episode 6 was absolutely fkn perfect. i enjoyed it even more than the original and that says something
They robbed Katara of any meaningful growth and cucked the mechanist. This was not accurate to the cartoon. It's a decent show if you're not comparing it to the OG, which has very similar run times. I'm too much of a fan to like this.

The new Netflix adaptation is still not that great since they must've cut and changed a lot of stuffs from the original cartoon just for the sake of changing things, but at least they respect the settings, the characters the culture, etc, and therefore it's miles better than the big joke that is the 2010 movie adaptation 😂🤣😂🤣 Netflix Avatar would be 6/10 objectively, but I'll give it a personal score of 7/10 🤷♂️
