Many wonderful memories of Clearwater Beach as a child. My grandparents had a winter home in Clearwater. Their summer home was in Indiana. Every Christmas, for many years, our family would pile in the station wagon, with our Christmas gifts, luggage and make the long drive to Florida. Took 2 days to get there. I remember when the Hilton on Clearwater Beach was the Holiday Inn back in the 70s and 80s. I remember the Turtle museum on the pier. My grandparents and parents loved the Beachcomber restaurant (Across the street from what is now the Hilton Hotel). So glad to see this place is still there. I would love to go back there and have a meal in their memory. I have many memories of Clearwater as well. My grandmother loved the shop. We went to Maas Brothers in downtown and Gayfers out by US 19 or Countryside Mall to Burdines. Morrisons and Piccadilly Cafeterias were my grandparents favorite places to eat and went there often. I went to visit my grandparents and grandaunt/uncles home for the first time in over 30 years just a few short years ago. They lived pretty far inland from the beach. It took about 30 minutes or so to get to the beach. I remembered after over 30 years, how to get to their home. The house was a shell of its former glory but my the house next door (my grandaunt and granduncles house) looked nearly the same as I remember it as a child. The neighborhood looked run down. The royal palm trees from the median as you pulled into the subdivision were gone as were all the palm trees and beautiful landscaping my grandfather did. I remember filling paper bags with sand and placing white candles in them on the sidewalk at Christmas time as did the entire neighborhood. So festive and pretty when the all the candles were lit up. I felt so safe there. There used to be an small orange orchard across the street from their house and one up the road. Oh the memories...I miss them so.
Thanks for sharing I grew up there too and all the things you mentioned I remember. I took my kids back down 12 more years. I came back to Georgia because of a family member passing but all the things you said brought back so many memories. We lived a mile from countryside Mall
Thanks for this. ... I'm to see minor damage throughout the area. ... I have a winter home in Dunedin that we're pleased to see survived such a storm ... I often bike from Dunedin to Clearwater beach and I'll be back in about a month doing it again. ...
I'm just amazed how much sand came out onto the street.. We come to florida every year from Durham England and I can't stop looking at these videos.. I'll be back in june to spend my money... 🎉🎉
People in Florida are resilient 😊
Love Clearwater, great to see that it's in good condition
Still looks beautiful 😍 🤩
Stunning beach and clouds. Hardly a foot of wave. The quiet after the storm. I feel for those who lost so much.

Does anyone know anything about the little hotel next to Shepherds 😢
We went there for 4th of July weekend, never again, way to many people with way to much money……..
I manage a restaurant on the beach. Trust me... the poor cheap people vastly outnumber rich ppl
😊
After passing under Pier 60 and then stepping on and crunching what look like horseshoe crab shells? I wouldn’t do it.
The next group of tourist to get all those musty smelling T-shirts
People in Florida have enough money to pay insurance
