I'm a Psych grad as well and currently furthering my studies in the MAs (Road to RPsy woot woot!) and I agree with the stigma thingy because here in PH a lot of people would judge you when they see you visiting a Psychiatrist/Psychologist. They be like seeking help from these professionals would equate to you being "baliw" already. I have heard a lot of people talking shit about Psych and discriminating people who suffer from mental illnesses. It's sad but we need to see this as a challenge to spread more awareness as much as we can. Good luck with the OJT girls!
Im not a psych grad but psychology isnt limited to "baliw" or things like mental disorders etc. It is also about stuffs like: "what makes human mind tick", learning or cognitives of human being, practical alternative answers to some rhetorical/philosophical questions in our lives and more. So yes, psych is a single yet diverse human discovery that touches ALMOST any other fields.
Psychology graduate na and gonna take the psychometrician board exam this year hehe. And I'm happy to see na marami na ang may interest sa psychology and this video helps clear out some misconceptions 😊
It's nice that you do these things as you know we battle the stigma given to Psychology and mental health everyday and by doing these, people get to learn a thing or two hence they get a clearer mindset of the issue. Just be persistent and committed to your goal and you'll get there. Woah girl, I was the same age as yours when I got interested with psychology and now I'm incoming 1st year college already with BS psychology as a major. Being anxious is normal, if you really want psychology (even though it won't make you rich with money but in fulfillment in your heart) then pursue it. We can do this!
I took Bs Psychology before pero nag stop ako kase sobrang hirap and nahirapan din ako i manage yung time ko dahil nag wowork ako. Pero after ma diagnosed ng 2 sisters ko ng anxiety and depression i decided na i pursue yung course ko. Yes sobrang hirap pero ganon talaga wala naman madaling course 🤷🏻♂️ . And lalo na dito sa Philippines tumataas yung bilang ng mga taong nagkaka anxiety, depression and suicide.. Actually kaya nahihirapan mag open up yung iba is because dahil sa STIGMA and hopefully maging mas open tayo when it comes to this matter..
ghad this is my dream course!! I want to pursue it but my parents don't want me to take up this course. :'< Ahhhhh, observing people and understanding their behaviours are the things i love to study! But unfortunately, my parents are one of those who misinterpret what this course actually is. So sad. Next year, i'll be in college. Hayst, dont want to be undecided until this SY ends.

This just strengthened my drive to do better bc honestly the stated subjects and courses sound so interesting. I'm glad my parents support me on taking bs psych despite the stigma surrounding it. I think that despite the stress I'll go through, I'll still enjoy learning.

For K-12 students there, if u wanna take up BS Psych, it is recommended to take STEM but actually, HUMSS is more likely aligned to social thingy so, yeah. In short, do what u want HAHAHAHAHAH

Hi!!! Shiftee here! Actually, nag-accountancy ako nung first sem kaso hhh di ko talaga gusto at di ako masaya at na-realize ko na Psych ang gusto ko talaga BUT I was def scared to shift bc I picked Accountancy not bc I was interested in it but bc my family said that Accountancy was a great and fitting course for me (and oop it was not at all) and that being an accountant would be a big help to them since you'll most likely get a high salary when you enter the workforce after yoy graduate I had to consider my end goal first and what will truly fulfill me and how much time, energy, and money I am willing to give bc in truth, you'll have difficulty finding a job related to the field with just a Bachelor's degree and if your plan is to become a psychologist, you have to have a PhD or PsyD, which will take several years to attain Psychogy also has TONS of math and there's certainly a lot of research that you'll have to do and you'll be learning for the rest of your life bc the mind is THAT complex You'll also need to mentally prepare yourself come 3rd year bc you'll most probably have internships at the psych ward I took all of this into account and decided Psych was really for me and I am willing to invest my time, energy and money on it If Psychology interests you and you want to pursue it, I personally believe you have to have a plan and all Other than that, Best of luck to you!!! If you really want it, go for it!!! ☺☺☺

I'm honestly glad my carelessness would help me out in the future. I chose the HUMSS strand on a whim, I had no basic plan for what I wanted in the future. Now that I've somewhat realized what I wanted to do, and that is choosing AB Psych, I'm glad that I went to the right strand
I still think na mas advantageous ang humss sa psych kasi we are already learning a lot of theories like mga at least 3 subjects ata namin is puro psychology na magkaiba iba and pinapakilala na sa amin sila pareng sigmund freud, erik erikson, etc HAHAHAHAHAHA pero yun nga wala yan sa strand, kahit galing abm, tvl, arts and design strand ka pwede kang mag psychology

I'm a HUMSS student and an incoming freshie this ay. 2022. I chose BS PSYCH as my course but i'm kinda nervous since people are saying i should've took STEM instead of HUMSS. I think I'm gonna have a hard time😭😭😭

For K-12 students there, if u wanna take up BS Psych, it is recommended to take STEM but actually, HUMSS is more likely aligned to social thingy so, yeah. In short, do what

I am planning to shift psych course this coming school year. But still. Undecided padin po ako due to fam reasons. Encourage me guys kasi yung previous course ko eh feel ko not for me. Hindi din kasi ako ang pumili sa course na ito kaya sobrang nahihirapan ako. Ang gusto kong kurso eh yung naayon sa personalidad ko which is psych kasi i love to observe human behaviours and such. Hi!!! Shiftee here! Actually, nag-accountancy ako nung first sem kaso hhh di ko talaga gusto at di ako masaya at na-realize ko na Psych ang gusto ko talaga
BUT I was def scared to shift bc I picked Accountancy not bc I was interested in it but bc my family said that Accountancy was a great and fitting course for me (and oop it was not at all) and that being an accountant would be a big help to them since you'll most likely get a high salary when you enter the workforce after yoy graduate
I had to consider my end goal first and what will truly fulfill me and how much time, energy, and money I am willing to give bc in truth, you'll have difficulty finding a job related to the field with just a Bachelor's degree and if your plan is to become a psychologist, you have to have a PhD or PsyD, which will take several years to attain
Psychogy also has TONS of math and there's certainly a lot of research that you'll have to do
and you'll be learning for the rest of your life bc the mind is THAT complex
You'll also need to mentally prepare yourself come 3rd year bc you'll most probably have internships at the psych ward
I took all of this into account and decided Psych was really for me and I am willing to invest my time, energy and money on it
If Psychology interests you and you want to pursue it, I personally believe you have to have a plan and all

Cause i've been in college for almost 8 years. Naga stop kasi ako dahil nadin sa mga sakit ko. Kaya siguro ako nasabihan na kailangan ng magtapos kasi nawawaste ko na ang time and money nila huhu. Pero sumiseek advice ako sa mga friends ko regarding sa desisyon ko na mag shift. And gaya ng sinabi mo po, ganyan din sinabi nila sakin. Huhu
Need a lot of prayers and dedication para mawala tong nega thoughts sa ulo ko. 🙏

I'm honestly glad my carelessness would help me out in the future. I chose the HUMSS strand on a whim, I had no basic plan for what I wanted in the future. Now that I've somewhat realized what I wanted to do, and that is choosing AB Psych, I'm glad that I went to the right strand
I still think na mas advantageous ang humss sa psych kasi we are already learning a lot of theories like mga at least 3 subjects ata namin is puro psychology na magkaiba iba and pinapakilala na sa amin sila pareng sigmund freud, erik erikson, etc HAHAHAHAHAHA pero yun nga wala yan sa strand, kahit galing abm, tvl, arts and design strand ka pwede kang mag psychology
