I enjoyed watching the Rebuild of the Combine I envy the Repair Men that do that for a living I did it for 33 years on Kitchen Equipment for Restaurants!
I am impressed. Big Joe sure knows how to fix that combine, what to look for, and how to remove it. I enjoy seeing a master mechanic make his way through a rebuild. And has the right tools at hand. Something my farmer Dad always said, “You can’t make progress driving up and down the road looking for tools and parts.” Good morning, Granny.
Yeah he's his best earner for a company that builds inferior equipment so they need full rebuilds with f all honours on em. This is daylight robbery. None of the other major brands I have worked with need any of these cheap built replacements for years and thousands of hours after this. I'm just glad these vids are out here now to show just how bad case is, keep your winter money in ya pocket. This should be taken to court and this red company shouldn't be allowed to get away with stealing from farmers. If a claas machine did this at this many hours. They would warranty the work, cheap Chinese bearings that case use.
You can look to spend $15K on a John Deere also about every 2000 to 2500hrs too! Non of this equipment is worth what it cost or what it cost to keep up that’s why I retired from farming!!!!
That was nice of Joe to pull the camera in close so we, and more importantly you, could see the wobble in the gearbox. Shame that it needs to be fixed but better now than in the middle of harvest.
Carl Stephens was also the host of WSFA’s children’s programming for many years when he was younger, called Cartoon Carl! He was a great newsman and led WSFA in his later years as programming director!

Run to failure or trade/sell the unit has to come into play. TRF is probably dealing with a 1/2 to 3/4 million dollar machine I suppose and the write-off schedule is always on your mind. You must be a very savvy farmer/businessman to survive in this period of Globalization where individual equipment parts are made all over the world, some in back-yard foundries and in high tech businesses where the Quality word has never been spoken.
We just drilled out untold hundreds of rivets and putting them back in just to replace some plastic plates on the bottom of the Draper head of our Deere combine and still ain’t finished😫 got 100’s more and that’s the not the worst of what’s left maintenance wise. Then that doesn’t even mention the wait for parts that nobody can find. People don’t know a quarter of the struggle🤷🏻♂️
I never realized there was this much work that had to be completed on the farm equipment during the time between seasons. There has to be a major expense in keeping the equipment in prime working order. We the purchasing public don't realize these added costs. I very much like watching this channel. I love the variety of different projects from farming to working in the shop on equipment. I hope you get a huge increase in the number of subscribers as this is a top farming channel.
Richard, I agree with you. This is a top farming channel bringing the constant variety of activity, hinting at the costs, and bringing the farm challenges to the public in an interesting way. I too enjoy the channel.
We got a hose that might need to replace on our S780. It’s only close to $1k for that one hose. Then we had to buy rivets 1 at a time to replace some plastic plates on the bottom of the head. Well over 300 rivets to just complete that step by the way🤦🏻♂️ talk about a headache!
I think red and blue front hats are the nicest looking. That said, farmers should probably pick the ones with darker mesh for hiding the dirt that is always involved in farming.

The combine videos are great. Kudos to Big Joe. It's one thing to take it all apart. Putting it all back together on such a complex disassembly is another. Double kudos!
When you wrap up the combine repairs a rounded summary repair costs versus combine value. It would help viewers realize combines wear and need wear part replacements to live to run more seasons. The repairs even though very expensive still makes business sense to keep the combine for many more seasons. Combines aren't like cars that run until repairs out way value and then they are junked.
Sorry to see that gearbox bad. They don’t usually go out. But look at the grain that combine has cut. I’m a Red man and they are the best combines on the market. Hope to see y’all put it back together!!😁🙋🏼♂️👍
Likely won’t get an answer here, but how old is that combine? How many hours on it? Also it would be interesting to hear an approximate price just for the parts that you are putting into this machine. That will give us a much better appreciation of what all goes into the cost of farming. I appreciate the work and time it takes to make these videos, they are a great source of interest and entertainment for me. Not a fan of hats so no comment on that lol

The sprocket volunteer wore outlook to me like running worn-out chains that do that damage to sprockets to you start to thing you need to tighten your chains it is time to replace them to save you time and money at the end of the year too I am very qualified to know what i am working on too
That looks really expensive. I know you might not have enjoyed filming that especially when you found out about the rotor, but I'll learn more watching your videos in the last 3 days about combines that I have in the last 4 years. Thanks
I like all of your posts, but really liked the combine ones. I've never seen the inside of a rotator, just the pull type combines. No wonder they're so expensive. Keep doing what your doing and thanks.
Hat number 2 and 4 are my favorite. I hate the extra cost on combine repair but much better now than a field failure. Your guy with CaseIH repair is worth his weight in gold. Really like the video even tho you did not throw at the trash can, just saying. As a fellow farmer our thoughts and prayers are with you on off season repairs. Stay safe my friend.
I like those fine woodworking skills. Big Joe is earning his pay this week. It is a shame that this gearbox had to puke but better now than later on. You know I have seen sprockets wore like that and had at least a day or two of life in them, especially if there were no replacement parts on hand. when Big Joe gets done you won't need a new combine.

It always amazes me how much maintenance it takes to keep your machines running. The cost is unbelievable! Thank you for sharing the life of a farmer.

Showing the porch chairs getting a coat of paint just helps with the example of all the stuff that needs maintenance,not just farm machinery.
