Thank you! Yes, I remember while I was sketching this part that I realized how it sounded like that bit! Since I’m more of a traditionalist composer, this tends to happen when my sound can be compared with past composers, but I really like when people say that! I think it’s a compliment to be compared to Tchaikovsky! The challenge is to make it pay homage to the original, while making it unique as well, because I don’t want to copy his sound, I want to build off of it! Thanks again for your comment! I appreciate it! :D
@@VincentGiza-ComposerThat is what all composers do! I always struggle with the same problem while writing music. This is really an excellent piece and definitely deserves more recognition though!
This uses a lot of rhythmic/orchestrational/harmonic/structural ideas found in Shostakovich's Festive Overture. It really does give off an uncanny valley vibe. I think in future you should spend more time really developing your individual sense of structure and form to help create music with a more unique sense of character within the music.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ve been working on that constantly, but with this piece in particular, it was a very guttural process as the music was coming into my head and onto the page. I was hearing these harmonies and melodies and rhythms and I realize they bear some similarities with the Shostakovich, but I do feel that this music represents my intentions. Which was to create an exciting 5 minute opener. I’m currently working on a large tone poem that is far more unique in structure, melody, and harmony than a lot of my other music. My saxophone quartet is another example of music that flowed very easily out of me but that work has no inspiratory work. I can’t think of an existing piece my saxophone quartet particularly sounds like. That might be a better listen for you if you seek a more individual style!
Very Joyfull and well written, great job! Two recommendations would be to develop the piece even further, and piccolo flute is usually on top of the score over the normal flutes on a standard score :)
Thank you! I’m not sure, I think this piece is as long/ as dense as I would like. Maybe someday! Yes, I originally had the piccolo double as 3rd flute, but switched it for the final draft so that they just play piccolo. Just forgot to swap the staves around haha!
Of course saxophones can have a great role in symphony orchestra, you're right. Bizet, Strauss, Berg, Adams wrote good parts for those instruments, and so did you. Thumbs up !
Thank you! I appreciate it! This is certainly not my best orchestral saxophone writing, but it is my ONLY orchestral saxophone writing haha! I do have plans for future orchestral works with more prominent/ featured saxophone parts!
Such an underated channel! Deserves way more views, keep up the amazing work you do!
Oh my gosh, thank you so much man!

Great piece! The bit at 2:47 def reminded me of the 3rd movement of Tchaikovsky 6
Thank you!
