Our band is from the Boston area. We will never forget gathering around the turntable and putting this on in 1976, when we started. Our jaws were on the floor!! They really influenced us - and everyone else....
I’ve heard this song described as “when you reach a certain age, it’s like reacquainting with a long lost friend when you listen to it”. And boy does that make sense.
Boston was another awesome group of talented musicians especially the lead singer his vocals had such great range. They had a lot of great songs back then. I loved Boston great memories! I loved your reaction!
Okay, you have only just scratched the surface with this band! In 1976, we all had this album when it came out and there is not a bad song on it. This song is my favorite from them! They sounded like no one else! Some of my other favorites from them, "Let me take you home Tonight", "Something about You", and "Hitch a Ride". You must just listen to that whole first album! Brad Delp, the lead singer, had one of the best voices of all time in my opinion. 😊
To me, this is the best rock song ever…it never gets old, and the minute you hear it, it brings back memories of past, and it rocks, and gets you moving and singing!
Nobody had pipes like Brad. I remember hearing this in the halls at my high school. They used to play tunes over the speakers between classes and at lunch.
Tom Scholz the guitarist is Boston. He brought in Brad Delph to sing the vocals. Had to put a band together to tour the album. Scholz played guitars, bass, drums, organ, check him out on you tube.
This is, undoubtedly, my MOST FAVORITE SONG...EVER! It's a great & fantastic driving song, there is none better! They also sing "Amanda" another great one by them. One or two of these guys went to M.I.T. No dummies there for sure! OMG! Thank you, thank you Michael for reviewing this masterpiece! It had its debut in the late '70's & has pleasant memories for me! 👍👍💯😎
I bought this album with my own money at K-Mart when I was 10 years old (1976-77). It's still in my top 5 albums of all time. Also bought KISS Alive II : )
Funny way a band forms. Tom Sholz was the one who wrote all of the songs, played all of the instruments, and produced them with his own equipment. He was the MIT grad. Once he had things to record he enlisted Brad Delp to sing on the album. The album was a hit and they had to hire the remaining band members to learn and play the songs for a tour to promote the album. Pretty awesome accomplishment.
holy crap! you've only heard boston for the first time an hour ago? man, you've got of good listening to catch up on! their first album is legendary! next listen to their hit "foreplay/long time"!
My 36 year old son tells me all the time that I was born at the right time to hear the greats and see some amazing concerts. I was born in 1955, and I agree with him! It's been a great ride!
Oh my . . . You won’t believe what you just got your ears into. Just start at the beginning. BOSTON by BOSTON. Debut album. Entire album. 8 songs, I believe. Ask for it on a gift receiving holiday, but on vinyl!!! That’s a must. And if you don’t have a turntable, pick a number that you think is pretty expensive and go buy one that price. Think somewhere between IPAD and IPHONE pricing. I was born in the 60’s, and ALL of the 70’s needs heard best on vinyl. SEALS AND CROFT is another great vinyl listen from that era. Enjoy the enrichment!
Love this song and it's been in a bunch of movies and shows, it's also a great driving song. Mad props to the 70s mustaches, they are large enough to be an additional band member, respect. Cheers.
I was a sophomore in high school in 1976. They would play this between classes, over the speakers, and more than any other song in existence I hear this opening riff, and I am instantly transported back to high school. Oh, and by the way, if you want to listen to Boston's BEST song, grab their first two albums, take all of the songs and put them in a bag, reach in and pull one out and you've got the best song they recorded!
My first 8 track!! The whole album great and just brings back memories! Driving in so cal with windows down and cranking up this full volume! The 70’s were the best!! So glad to see the younger generation enjoying it too! Love your channel!!
LOVE this song but Foreplay/Longtime has got to be my absolute fave Boston tune. Their entire debut album is a banger. When you understand how the album was recorded, your mind will be blown.
SO HAPPY YOU FINALLY FOUND ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS. LOVED "BOSTON". THEIR SOUND WAS SO UNIQUE AND THE LEAD SINGER HAD A FANTASTIC VOICE (GREAT HARMONIES, TOO). GOTTA LISTEN TO MORE OF THEIR SONGS LIKE "PEACE OF MIND", "HOLLYANNE", "DON'T LOOK BACK", "CAN'TCHA SAY/STILL IN LOVE". "MORE THAN A FEELING" IS OF COURSE THE BEST OF THE BEST. BTW, THAT UNIQUE SOUND THEY HAVE COMES FROM A 20 YEAR OLD "VOX TONE-BENDER WITH A BAD TRANSISTOR". TOTALLY COOL. ENJOYED YOUR REACTION AND HOW MUCH YOU LOVE "BOSTON". BILLY BOY
This is the first song on their first album and this debut Boston album is considered to be one of the greatest in rock music history. You are perfectly poised to work your way through each amazing gem on this killer album!
This group is just one of the very best Ever. Do a little research & you will be amazed. Brad Delp is one of the very Best Rock singers ever. Try the song Smokin next. You will absolutely love it. Then I would do Rock & Roll Band after that. Its awesome also.

Great song, one of my favorites. I think you need to branch out. I was born in 1960 and firmly believe that our music of the 70's following by the 60's was and is the best. I have made up a list of some of my favs that I would love to see you react to. Being terminally ill, I can't get out much now, but I do love to see reactions from younger generations, seeing you all love our songs. Here are some of the greats of my day and a song or two to try out; I will be watching and hoping to see you do some of them.. Ambrosia: Holding on to Yesterday, Biggest Part of Me, how much I feel. This song is the ultimate summer song. I used to drive around in my 75' Camaro with the windows down and the T-tops off, just blasting this tune. It just puts you in that summer, having fun mood. It's such a shame that the singer committed suicide, cause they had so many great amazing songs.
Yes, Boston is one of the most reacted to rock groups and for good reason. They only had three albums but none were as good as their debut, which is one of the best selling and most played of all time. You should listen to every track, but their first three singles "More Than A Feeling", "Peace Of Mind", "Foreplay/Longtime" made them legends.
It actually is the city of Boston, also... Look at the sci-fi themed album cover. In the background, the Earth is exploding, and guitar-shaped ships are escaping... one ship, one city under a dome. In the foreground, Boston.
hi michael, good yes ?? this is one of my favourite ever songs. his voice is incredible and the music is magic, .brad delp was the lead singer, who committed suicide on march 9th 2007. he was 55. there are still rumblings today as to why he did it. boston have loads of music in their catalogue, but this one, i think, is their best. they are still performing today, without brad, don't think the audience would stay long if they were to include him. super great reaction, sooooo glad you like this one.
@@michaelwduffy You're right -- it's very sad. Also, everyone who knew Brad Delp said he was a great person: friendly, kind, gentle, down to earth, a great neighbor (for example, helping people mow their lawns). When he died, the band's website said "We just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll."
I LOVE Boston! Picking a favorite is hard to do, but I am a fan of "rock and roll band". On a side note, a lot of people don't notice but if you look at the spaceship on the album cover it is actually a guitar.
Yeah, when we say "music was better in our day" it's arguably NOT subjective in this case, LOL. 1970s was my childhood and 1980's teens and young adulthood. Perfect timing!
Fun fact, Dwayne The Rock Johnson is married to the daughter of the drummer Sib Haisain RIP. Also, Brad Delp rest in peace never get enough credit for his incredible vocals.
I adore this song, & great in the 70's!! I was born in 1960 therefore later on & before were just brilliant 🎉. The time machine going way back but excellent!! Music now is SO different now, yet at times great I know. 🎉I 🎉
Just so you know, we didn't all dress like that. Neither did they offstage. Great song, great band. Don't wish to have been alive back then. I was 21 in 1975 and now I'm 69 wondering where all the time went. You actually have it better because all the music we had to wait for is available at your fingertips. I still want you to react to The Trooper Overture by 2cellos. Official video not the live version. You'll thank me.
Man, you hit all the nails on this song, the vocals, guitar, bass, riff, drums, and on top of that, the feel, emotion, passion... Boston songs have it all, rockin' it or ballads... at least the first two albums do, and especially the debut. I like a man that understands their appreciation of Boston... and a man that prefers Hellman's mayonnaise over Best Foods.
It was the BEST era for rock music 70-80’s rock was real music, not electronic prerecorded solo track auto-tuned garbage we hear today. It was real, not auto tuned, real instruments, real singers, real talent. Boston was one of my favorite bands, still is. Brad Delp was a phenomenal lead vocalist. Their debut album was only 8 songs, but each one was a total winner- every one! Great choice. If I was to suggest the next song, it’s Journey’s Separate Ways. Terrible video, but one of their best songs for just a great driving rock song.
70s. When they knew how to make music. Not making a label or sponsors but making music for the love of music. I miss those days. This song takes me back to summer nights, riding around in my mom's 70s station wagon with the windows down, and it sounded so rich because most other people were doing same in their cars.before the era of Bluetooth so people would get multiple cars together and request song from your favorite radio station if you didn't have an 8 track, tune in and wait. No internet or on demand digital downloads, if you were in your car it was 8 track or the radio. Tape decks with cassettes I believe didn't appear till 80s. Maybe 79.
Bought the album when it came out. I literally wore out the record to where it wouldn't play anymore. Bought another copy and then the CD and then the digital album. Timeless classic.
The first Boston album is the first LP that I ever bought. The ELO: Out of the Blue double album was the second that I bought. It wasn't long after that I bought Meat Loaf Bat Out of Hell.
The one thing I really hate about this song is that it isn't 6 minutes long. This is without question the greatest rock song ever, in my opinion. The guitars, the drums, the story, and the unparalleled vocals come together in perfection.
There's no bad song on this album! Keep checking them out! Apparently they still tour to this day, but without that amazing voice of singer Brad Delp. He tragically committed suicide. It's really heartbreaking. The note he left on himself? I cry thinking about it. He always had the warmest smile on his face, just like in this video but towards the end you can't not see the hurt in his eyes.
That 1976 album was one of the greatest ever. All the songs on it a hot! My favorite is Foreplay/Long Time but I'm a keyboardist so I lean towards that one more.
They are still rocking with new singer. There lead singer killed himself few years ago he had depression. The have tons of great songs that will blow you away. Cold the engines, etc
Boston Rocks,I seen Them so many times I can't count. NOT one bad song, I was friend's with the lead singer Brad Delp,,and worked with Him in Danvers Ma before They got huge. Love Your reactions Love Your channel,,Have a great day.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Luke Kelly Boston Ma☘
We did have some great tunes back then. My folks grew up in the 50's and 60's and I always thought their music was better than what I grew up with even though I liked my 70's & 80's music, it just couldn't compare with some good 60's Motown, 50's Elvis, etc. So i know where you're coming from. Hell, even Bob Seger in the 70's was already complaining about modern music (Disco) and saying he wanted some old time rock & roll, LOL!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Boston (the band) from your listener in Boston (the city). You will want to react to every song on this (debut) album as they're all fantastic. Id start with "Foreplay/Long Time" (always played together... Foreplay is like an extended instrumental intro to Long Time), and "Peace of Mind." Then just go through the rest at any order you please. The follow-up album "Don't Look Back" is also great (if the debut album is an 11 out of 10, Don't Look Back is like a 9.5. On that album, youll want to react.(at least) to the title track and "A Man I'll Never Be."
Michael, you need to go watch Rick Beato's "What makes this song great" where he picks apart this song using the master tapes where he can isolate anything and show you what is going on. It will take your appreciation of it to a whole new universe.

I saw Boston in concert in 1978 and this is exactly how I remember them...and Sammy Hagar was the opening band. Great music! Great memories!!
The genius of the era included when bands really switched up to keep you guessing but always pleasantly surprised and satisfied.
Iconic classic rock at it's best. There is nothing like that today.🎸🎸🎸

I cry thinking about it. He always had the warmest smile on his face, just like in this video but towards the end you can't not see the hurt in his eyes.
Please react to all of their songs on their first album. They are all amazing!!!! Lead singer is Brad Delp.
Great reaction to an all-time classic. Oh, by the way, you can KEEP your water "bucket".
Brad Delp was Bostons lead vocalist. Sadly he died in 2007 from a carbon monoxide suicide.
Boston Rocks,I seen Them so many times I can't count. NOT one bad song, I was friend's with the lead singer Brad Delp,,and worked with Him in Danvers Ma before They got huge. Love Your reactions Love Your channel,,Have a great day.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

You were friends with him? That's wonderful! I understand he was a great guy, as well as a great singer.
@@s.jackson8098 He was a Awsome Freind and a Great singer,,He is missed
Listen to it all. It will changee your life!
Good ole 70's music!
You need to listen to the whole album. Seriously. Listen to it.
Will try my best! 😃
On that album, youll want to react.(at least) to the title track and "A Man I'll Never Be."
dude created like almost the whole album in his basement by himself.
They got those dual leads from Thin Lizzy!
Glad I got to see them.
Michael, you need to go watch Rick Beato's "What makes this song great" where he picks apart this song using the master tapes where he can isolate anything and show you what is going on. It will take your appreciation of it to a whole new universe.
Legend has it hes still singing that note 😂😂
This isn't live. It's a studio recording and the band mimed to it for the music video. They played to a click track. Still godlike however.
Brad Delp, RIP
Welcome to the age of
REAL music..!!
Glad you dug-it...!
The rest of the album is Just as good...!!
The whole album was a hit ,mist if not all the songs were all over the radio stations back then
Brad Delp Passed away. No they do not tour any more! Tom Sholtz and Brad Delp are basically the band!! The others changed over the years!
