    I prefer my 80m-10m EFHW over my CHA Emcom III portable. Especially on 80m and 40m.

    Are use the Bioenno solar charge controller because they’re designed for Ham Radio to be quiet. Other charge controllers can induce noise in the radio is my understanding.

    • @hamradiowithkevin
      @hamradiowithkevin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used different charge controllers. If I use one that is noisey, I just charge while I am taking a break. The solution can be that easy.

    Do you spin dinner plates and juggle too? (Kidding). Looks like a solid robust field deployment. Great contacts!
    Tip: Sometimes when I launch my throw, I face backwards to get a better arch… try it.

    • @hamradiowithkevin
      @hamradiowithkevin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good one Randall 👍 the plates sound like a fun experiment. The backward toss migt not be so accurate for me. I do have an idea though 😉

    Try figure-8 winding you antenna on the winder. That may solve twisting.

    • @hamradiowithkevin
      @hamradiowithkevin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, that's a good point. Since that video I have winded both ways. The more it's used, the better it winds in a winder.
      Great tip, you shared 👍

      Thanks for asking Robbie, I have added the item to the description, just make sure you get a size that fits the mast you are working with.
      Note: the round ones seem to work better than the square ones. 73 Kevin

    Nicely done sir, I have used the exact same set up as you did and included same radio and antenna, but I have used both a Neumatic 32 ft mast with 20 PSI can carrier of air, or a SPIDERMAST, both of which are really fun to demo for guest at events: I.E. POTA's, SOTA's, and Field Day. I am glad I found your video's and I hope to see more of your work here soon. 73's Don DE; QNA

    I have the same antenna but have only set it up as end fed sloper in a tall tree after camping for a VT POTA activation. I ended up using my tuner and made some great contacts. Great video, have a safe trip. Are you on Patreon??

      @hamradiowithkevin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Andrew, your right, this antenna seems to be a really good performer.
      I am looking forward to getting into our mountain areas so that I can extend this antenna as a slopper and inverted L like you did.
      I appreciate your support. I have not started patreon, I will look into it. thanks and 73 Kevin.

    Nice video, nice setup. Good choice for a portable radio, the TS480.
    Where did you get the 40 foot window washer pole? I could use all 40 feet of it. I use multi band vertical wire antenna made out of #22 teflon wire. I should not need to drill holes to keep it from collapsing. My flag pole is 28 feet but 40 foot would be so much better.

As you explained the Guy you are camping in the Desert....lots of People I made Contact to telling me " ok Uncle Guenter we apprectiate the Contact with your Portable Station. Enjoy your outdoor Camping and have tons of Dx Contacts..." I have to explain them that I am not a Camper - I am a fulltime Portable Station in all kinds of Weather except of pooring Rain stopps me from playing Radio.

      @@hamradiowithkevin Yup, the Area where I live is a Nightmare for HAM Radio operating. 160,80 and 40m S9 man made noise 24/7. Since over 2 years the Asian Multimedia Entertaiment Toys started interfering the other Bands like 20 and 17m Band. PLC Noise and WiFi Repeaters made my life hard. Outside at Mother Nature I am free as a Bird...and this Bird you cannot change. (Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd).
