I agree. I built my house, completely on my own in the evenings and on weekends, in 9 months. 4,000 sq.ft two story craftsman house with full basement and three bay garage, from the footers to the last trim nail.
Wonderful. Straight, sturdy, simple and clean! I started framing in the 80's. I wish They would just let me be..engineered drawings,the way things are permitted. When I say that..I fine being reasonable. You used to be able to grab some graph paper, draw up a design that met a reasonable code, paid a flat rate..good strong quality result. Not no more....they have things regulated to death with more steps and waste..inspectors and government workers and a whole lot of time money just wasted on bullshit. I love what your doing!
If I could afford it, I'd hire Jeff to build for me. Great work & doesn't sit around. I'll add this too; those overhangs will attract a LOT of wasps looking to build nests.

A little trick grandfadder used to do when building homes and cabins. He would put the stair treads in upside down, when the place was finished, turn em over and have nice new clean treads.

Great looking house! The only thing I might have added was on the high side, maybe wrap the porch around from front to back. I love the wrap around porches and have always equated them with country homes. I was going to have a metal roof put on our house until I got the $22k price tag.
