    Wow, very nice video. A little taste of everywhere you went. Planning a trip in 2020 or early 2021. How awesome is that to see where you used to live! Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you for sharing. Our ship will dock in Bangkok for 1 night. We were suggested to find a hotel in Bangkok as the terminal is far from the city. What is your experience?

    I'm planning this exact same trip. Did you have to exchange currency for each country/port you visited? I don't speak any of their native language and don't want to get rip off. TIA.

    Hi, really great video! We're cruising HK, Vietnam, Bangkok, Singapore in January. We've arranged tours through Cruise Critic Roll Call for our ship, Celebrity Millemium, using local travel companies. Are there plenty of ATM's in the ports you visited? We shall probably pay for the tours in UD$. We have an overnight stay in Bangkok to avoid so much travelling in one day. Be grateful for any advice.

      +Alan Brooker yes, there are atms in the ports. Just stick with the tourist area of the ports. I️ do know that Vietnam is a bit restrictive in regards I️ their currency so unknown if you can get Vietnamese dollars via ATM. We exchanged money at one of the places inside a mall/market. But as mentioned previously, the tour companies that cater to the cruise ships will usually accept US dollars and have English speaking guides. Have a great trip!

    I loved your video. Me and my family are thinking about doing this cruise next year....what month did you go in? Can you give me a general idea of the cost? It’s me, hubby & Daugter 12 yrs old. We will be traveling from TN.

      Hi - we went in month of July (Summertime). Weather was hot but wasn't too bad! You will have to check your flight prices to Singapore but the cruise itself was around $1300 a person or so. Don't remember the exact amount. But you will be visiting many ports and not just one country. Have fun!

    Hi We are traveling to to Singapore in April and doing the same Itinerary on NCL cruise can you give me an idea of the cost of a taxi or driver from from each port to the cities of Bangkok, Vietnam Ho Chi City , etc we have a family of 6 people going so my family wants to be prepared in knowing the cost! I enjoyed watching your video!!! It was very helpful and fun to watch !!!

    • @niteowl8
      @niteowl8  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jaylin - if you watch the video at around the 9:20 mark, you can see the price list in US dollars. The more people in your group, the higher the price. However, you can still "negotiate" off the list price (like what my Dad did --- bargained from $245 to $160 at the Phu My (Vietnam) port.) We had a group of 7 people. Of course speaking their native language helps.
      However, even if you were to pay the list price of $245 for 7 people, that would be a bargain compared to booking an excursion with the cruise line.
      Have fun on your trip!

    Hi, am going on the East Asia Diamond Cruise on the 17th Dec. How are the excursions. Can we book the in the ship?

    • @niteowl8
      @niteowl8  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Miranda Sebothoma -- yes, you can book excursions on the ship but depending on how many people are involved, it could add up $$$. If you check out the video at the 9:20 mark, you can see the prices for a tour from the companies that are outside of the port. But if you want to play it safe, the shop excursion is not a bad route. Especially if you don’t speak their native language.

    I’m doing a similar cruise in December !
    May I ask, was the drive to Bangkok worth it? And for the Thailand and Vietnam ports, you had to find transportation to the city? Does the cruise not offer free shuttles?

    • @niteowl8
      @niteowl8  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Erica Yang Hi. I think the drive is worth it. Better to explore based on what you want to see. The cruise does not offer free shuttle. Check out the video at around the 9 minute mark. We negotiated a full day rental with driver for $160 US. That was for all of us (7 people). The driver will have prearranged sites but if you want to see something specific just let them know. They will accommodate. Tips doesn’t hurt either! Let me know if any other questions and enjoy your cruise in December!

      Great! Thanks for the information. Was there a time that you guys had to be back for the cruise on the first day? We stay two days in Bangkok and are considering staying overnight in Bangkok to see the nightlife.

    • @niteowl8
      @niteowl8  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Erica Yang Depends on your ship’s schedule. Our ship stayed overnight in Bangkok so a lot of people got a hotel room and spent their night on land. You can board anytime throughout the night. This was the Jewel of the Seas

      I see. We are traveling on Holland America's Volendam. I would really like to see Bangkok but also want to go to Pattaya to see the Sanctuary of Truth! When you guys were negotiating for transportation, did you pay in USD? or did you have to exchange money when you got there?

    • @niteowl8
      @niteowl8  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we stayed overnight at the Laem Chabang (Bangkok) port so one day we went to Bangkok and the other day went to Pattaya. In regards to the money, if you negotiate transportation NEAR THE CRUISE TERMINAL - they take U.S. Dollars at all the ports. If you pause the video at the 9:20 mark, you will see the paperwork is in U.S. Dollars, with an English Speaking Guide. But we did exchange money prior to getting to cruise as we wanted spending money when we were out of the "tourist" areas.
