Uncharted 3 i think, really shows character development. Firstly, Nate is much more enthusiastic about the treasure, something that he did not display in the other games. Eventhough it was different, it makes sense. Nate has survived so many close calls in his past adventures that he thinks that he can get away with anything now. He also feels like "If there is treasure, its my job to get it", because he was the one who solved the puzzles and found the treasures in the previous games and has survived to live happily in all of them every time(even if he didnt get the treasure). Like sully said in U3, hes got his "pride tangled up". Hes so adamant in getting the treasure because not only has he been searching for it since a teen, but also since he found El Dorado and Shambala, he feels like he can do anything. Not only that, i think that subtly he hates Marlowe more than any other villain and that also drives him to beat her to the treasure. Secondly, Elena. Elena in U3 basically doesnt care about the treasure anymore. She isnt the same as she was in the past games and i think its because of the fact, that she nearly died and it was basically pure luck that she survived in U2. Not only that, Jeff also died and i feel like elena is taking that guilt because it was her curiosity that lead to someone else and nearly herself dying. In U3, elena has matured to the point where she thinks "its not worth it", because she has witnessed a friend die. Same with chloe, in u2 she was her young self not minding anything and just goes along with everything. But she has also matured like elena in u3. Also this is an unpopular opinion, but in the first 2 games, i didnt really like sully, because in the first game, he lead the villains straight to them, even if he didnt mean to, He was portrayed as someone who would do anything for money and for himself, even if it gets others in danger. Sully had never really did anything for drake, he just didnt seem like an asset to the team. In u2, he just quit after one sorta close call, it really made me wonder like "has this guy really been friends with nate for like 20 years", it didnt seem that way. But u3 completely changed that tho, sully was an asset with his navy skills, they had great talks together(much more than 1 and 2), and he definitely felt like an older brother to nate(even if he didnt want to find the atlantis, he would "go to the ends of the earth" for nate, which he did. Sully actually felt like someone whos been great friends with nate for 20 odd years, which i think definitely lacked in the other games(dont know abyss cos i didnt play it). If cutter had been in all of u3, i seriously think it could have been better than u2, but unfortunately that wasnt the case. Anyways, if you read all this, thank you and heres my list. 1 3 2 4

I would love to know what the rest of the story would have been like if Cutter didn't have to be written out, I dunno if that information exists on the internet somewhere. Also yes I totally get what you mean about Sully in the first 2 games, it was definitely the 3rd game that made me appreciate Sully more when replaying those games. So for that I love UC3!! I love uncharted 3 itd definitly not the best but not the worst. I would say uncharted 3 is midtier i love it so much. Here is my list. 1. Uncharted 2 2. Uncharted 4 3. Uncharted TLL 4. uncharted 3 5. Uncharted 1 (its better then 3 but i fucking love uncharteds 3 scenery at the end) 6. Uncharted golden abyss. All games are 9+ the only game thats better imo is the last of us 1 but that's something that changes alot

Hi all! I just wanted to apologise for any audio inconsistency's in the video. I actually started making this video well over a year ago when Uncharted The Lost Legacy was just a DLC!! However once I discovered it was a full game I stopped working on the video, played The Lost Legacy and then I had to go back and rearrange the list and rerecord stuff - it became a whole thing and I started to think I would never finish this video. Anyways now I'm about 95% happy with how it sounds and if I didn't post this now I will literally spend the rest of eternity trying to fix things/rerecording bits and driving myself INSANE - so here it is! Lost Legacy was overall amazing. The driving around got a bit tedious, but it had so many great moments. It had my favourite ending, and you really can’t go wrong with a character voiced by Claudia Black. I would love to see another Chloe lead game, unfortunately I don’t think it would happen.

Unchartes 2 (among thieves ) was really a masterpiece. And it is the only uncharted game who has won the GOTY(GAME OF THE YEAR). It deserves no.1 place

Yes that is a very good point. Its nice to get that extra character development but sometimes that did get in the way of the adventure. I think Lost Legacy got the balance right though.
I adore this series. Top 5 ever for me along with Bioshock and The Last of Us. My personal ranking: 1) Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Improved everything, pretty much perfected the formula. Train section was so impressive. 2) Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - never felt bloated to me. Loved Elena and Nate's relationship, felt really sweet and real. Brother came out of nowhere but I loved it. Lol. 3) Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Loved the backstory and the straining of Nate and Elena's relationship. Also the drugged out scene. Bigger set pieces. 4) Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - felt like super high quality deleted scenes from Uncharted 4. Really enjoyed the characters but didn't quite live up to 4 for me. 5) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - incredible introduction to characters. Didn't know I could love game characters so much. Tomb Raider wishes it could have such a great cast. Great game but everything improved with sequels. 6) Uncharted: Golden Abyss - really fun but side characters not nearly as good as Elena, Sully, etc. Also too much Vita shenanigans.
I actually liked your list. I think you ordered them in a good way. My list is: 1.- Uncharted 3 2.- Uncharted 4 3.- Uncharted 2 4.- Uncharted 1 5.- Uncharted Golden Abyss I haven't played Lost Legacy yet, and I really have to lol. Oh, and don't forget that Uncharted 3 had the best multiplayer mode in the series, unfortunately the servers are down now :'(
I did spend the most time in uncharted 3 because I adored that multiplayer. I don't think the campaign was TERRIBLE but not incredible. It ranks 4 on my list but I think they're all great. 1. U2 2. U4 3. TLL 4. U3 5. U1
Anyway, in terms of my thoughts. Drake's Fortune: It's a good game in it's own right, and I can play it just fine. But similar to Mario 1, Sonic 1, and Crash 1, the sequels are just better... with maybe the exception of 3. My problems with it were the jet ski, and how there were too many instances where the game wanted to pick a fight with you. Chapter 4 also introduced too many new weapons and mechanics, I felt. What I do like, however, was the story, and how there was a bit of a strategic element in the gun fights, which is something I think the other games lack in comparison. Among Thieves: This to me, delivers the full package for an Uncharted game. It takes all the problems from the first game, and improves them significantly. Sure, there are a few annoying bits like Chapter 2 as a whole, but there's great action, characters, a well paced story, music, and everything else to counter the problems. My only gripes with the story are how the villains suffer the James Bond syndrome, and characters surviving falls when they really shouldn't have. To me, those were a bit jarring. Still a fantastic game, and my favorite of the series. Drake's Deception: Despite some of it's problems, I still think is solid. It was my first introduction to the series, and I grew to love it. However, I will admit that it's the weakest in the series. The story just falls apart when Nate gets captured by Ramses, which had no bearing on the plot what so ever, and those fucking Djinn enemies! Fuck Chapter 21! I do dig the enhanced melee combat, and I think 3 took the action to the next level, making them a little more enjoyable... if a bit too ridiculous. 3 might be the weakest, but it has a lot of good moments as well. A Thief's End: Sure, it's a little too laid back compared to the PS3 trilogy, but it was my GOTY of 2016. The game just felt smoother, and I enjoyed how the characters played off of each other. Rafe might not be like Lazarvich, but he's certainly not like Marlowe either. He's a villain that is insane, but he does explore Nathan's mind a little more by the end of the game. I'll admit that Nadine felt like she was there and the fights with her made little sense, particularly the second one, but it was still a fun ride. Lost Legacy: It might not have been my GOTY of 2017, but I enjoyed this one as well. I've always said that the games won't be the same without Nathan Drake, but I like Chloe too, and her interactions with Nadine and Sam are on point. It did borrow a lot from the previous games, but the open world aspect was a cool idea. I can say it was good enough.
Thanks for taking the time to write out your thoughts for each game! I really thought I would get a lot of hate for how much I ripped into UC3 but its nice to know others agree. Also I totally agree with what you say about sequels being better than the orignal in the video game world. Both Crash 1 and UDF suffer with unfair difficulty, odd controls etc and then their sequels really improve things and are considered the best of the series by many people!
I personally hate the fact that Uncharted 4 doesn’t have any mystical/magical creatures like all the others did - I kept waiting nearly the end chapters for pirate zombie creatures or something but the end came and there was nothing - I was so disappointed

I was so relieved that there were no monsters like the other games because i always used to shit my pants with the fuckin descendants in the first game and the invincible guardians at the second. The fourth uncharted is meant to give a more normal treasure hunting, without monsters. Did you want nathans last adventure to include monsters? I know that i didnt. Wow i wrote a lot
It was more of a development thing in drake's case in the other games drake is chasing cursed treasure which by the time he finds that out he has to destroy where the last one was a question of does he care more for treasure then his loved ones so uncharted 4 wasn't cursed to show even it's just gold not cursed and can freely take it he would still prefer to go home empty handed in order to protect the people around him proving to his friends that he chooses them not the treasure
That's the worst part of the 3 first games and onevof the best parts in uncharted 4. The three first ones can't be taken seriously, but uncharted 4 can and that is why it's the best one in the franchise bruh

Fantastic retrospective of the Uncharted series! It’s definitely my favourite modern gaming franchise and Uncharted 2 is my favourite game of the series as well. I have lost count how many times I have replayed them.

Uncharted TLL Uncharted 4 is mechanically the better game and brings Nates fantastic journey to a wonderful end but the feeling of playing Uncharted 2 will always have a special place in my heart. So U2 is on top of my personal list sharing the first place with U4. Really awesome video. So nostalgic. Great work!
So I have a funny story I was about 6 when I got into games. At the time I used my dad's PS3 so when the PS4 came out he gave me his ps3 and gave me uncharted 3. So I played the game until I got to the puzzle in Yemen I forget the chapter but it was with the gears. Never got past it. Played the chapters before over and over. Then I stopped playing. Well 6 years later I remember uncharted 3. So I buy the Nathan drake collection get on uncharted 3 look up a puzzle guide and I had a blast playing it again and finally finishing the second half of the game. Uncharted 3 will always be my favorite game.
I just finished playing the first four all in a row and here's how I would rank them from worst to best: 4-Uncharted: Drake's Fortune 3-Uncharted 3: Drake's Desception 2-Uncharted 2: Among Thieves 1-Uncharted 4: A Thief's End I may try to platinum Uncharted 4 one day, as it's the only one I think I'd want to play again, but that speedrunning trophy kinda ruins it for me.

One problem i had with uncharted 2, is that half the time i struggled to understand where on earth i needed to go. I distinctly remember walking around the nepalese town for like, 10 minutes, before figuring out that i could climb a lamp post, and i was like 👁👄👁

My #1 is actually U4 though and I'm actually a Sam fan lol. Plus Troy Baker (along with Nolan North of course) is one of my favorite voice actor's. I never played Golden Abyss though but for me: 1. 3 is my favorite. I liked all the sections, specially the shipyard one,the airport section and the desert section that followed. I also enjoyed having a bunch of characters exploring together like in that castle level, or the bar, which then takes you to the sewers. 2 is my second favorite one. I enjoyed the Nepal section, the museum lvl, the Tibete lvl. Then it's uncharted 4, the audition section, young Nathan, and Scotland is what makes it better than the other uncharteds. Then it's uncharted 1, it was the first uncharted I played, and I really liked it. The monastery section during the end was the best part of the game imo. I also liked the fortress and drawned city sections. Golden abyss comes last, it was a ps Vita game, but it was really good. I enjoyed that part where chase rescues Nate, and the Aztec section.. there was also that part when sully broke his leg. Lastly, I haven't played lost legacy, but I'm going to start it soon, and from what I've seen, I believe it will rank between the 🥉 spot and fifth.
There's so much that I disagree with on this video (Uncharted 3 at the bottom?) but I genuinely appreciate your perspective on them. You didn't just say you didn't like something for inane reasons. You actually went into detail about why you didn't like them. So much respect to you for that. It's interesting to watch someone who's a fellow Uncharted fan, but loves them for slightly different reasons. Speaks to the depth of these games, that are often overlooked by mainstream reviewers. 👍🏾

I'll admit, I never cared for this series much. But Christmas of 2016, I got a PS4 with Uncharted 4 included. It took me awhile to get to it, but once I played it I loved it. Now, I'm going over the whole franchise with the Nathan Drake collection. And these games are truly a blast. I'll be doing a review of each one soon. Maybe you'd like to join? Great ranking btw.

My ranking is about the same as yours - with my top 3 often cycling between UC2, UC4, and Lost Legacy. Too many things I enjoy in each to ever be fully pleased with one in the top spot! Also, I gotta give a shoutout to the mobile game 'Fortune Hunter', for being the only Uncharted where you can play as Drake in a mo-cap suit, ha.

I like uc2 for many of the same reasons other people prefer it over uc3, but I've always preferred 3's badass pub brawl intro over 2's train and the way they play with camera angles

What do you mean?! Uncharted Drake's Deception is probably my favorite game in the series. And the second half is the good part! Also, the cruise ship section wasn't nearly as hard in crushing as the entirety of Drake's Fortune was. But all of the games are great. My list: 4: 1 3: 2 2: 4 1: 3

Great video. You made some really good points. Personally for me, Uncharted 4 is my favourite because Nate is one of my favourite fictional characters of all time and since I have been with Nate from the beginning, getting to see the send off he deserves was really amazing. I also loved many aspects of the story such as Nate questioning himself or Sam being a reflection of older Nate and the relationship between Nate and Elena was the highlight of this game. Also the gameplay was phenomenal and the shooting and the stealth feels so good. Uncharted 4 on Crushing was also really challenging. And the level design was phenomenal giving you ample abilities to tackle any situation. I also loved that in this game , that the enemy AI were so good that it felt like you are fighting an army rather than NPCs. But I whole heartedly agree about the pacing issues. The pacing feels off in many scenarios. First the auction chapter, then Scotland climbing sections, Madagascar market sections,At Sea level where you just drive the boat and the parts after the Marooned Chapter. I think the game really got it's pacing right when Nate and Elena meet. I really hope that Naughty Dog nails the pacing of The Last of Us Part 2 because the first game absolutely nailed it. I would rather have a well paced 10 hour game rather than a 20 hour game where it's just padded out. Bad pacing hurts the replayability of the game. I replay some encounters of Uncharted 4 from time to time. But I don't replay the entire game like The original trilogy or The Last of Us. Sorry for long comment though.

It was pretty hard trying to decide where to place TLL as I hadn't played it as much as the others so in the end it came down to TLL vs UC4 and I just couldn't justify placing UC4 higher when I replayed it. Thanks for watching the video =D
Uncharted 4 is my favorite game because it has amazing graphics and it expands slealth mechancis and Stealth is way more frequent than the first three and actually also because I really liked Sam. In his passion to find his mom's journals and his undying passion to find Avery's treasure no matter what and he's kind of a fun character too. And that sword fight at the end is phenomenal and unique because Swords were never part of Uncharted. Also that it had no mythical creatures unlike the first three games. Which I find no reason for those creatures to appear.
Although my favourite is 4, my second favourite is actually 3. I thought it felt a lot more ballsy and dating than 2, even though it treaded a lot of the same ground. Although, it's probably because I found the ending chapters way easier than the ending chapters of 2 and a lot less frustrating.

Great video! Although I disagree with somethings you say, I respect your opinion and experience with this series that many of us loved so much as well. If I had to rank them, it would be: 5. U1 4. U3 3. U:LL 2. U2 1. U4 I never played Golden Abyss unfortunately, but hope to someday so I can complete the list. For awhile there, 3 was last on my list as well. Until I started replaying it more, and when the remastered version came out it led me to liking 3 a bit more then when I played it the first couple of times on PS3. It does have it's flaws, but I tended to appreciate the game a bit more everytime I went back to playing it. I can't say the same for 1, and it not being the first Uncharted game I played, I don't have the same nostalgic feeling for it you and many fans might have. But I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Lost Legacy was a blast, without getting into too much detail I'll say I loved every bit of it, but I just can't rank it higher than 2 or 4. Now 2 is where it gets really nostalgic for me since it was my first Uncharted game and what a way to get introduced to the series. You pretty much hit every point I loved about the game, and for me it's difficult ranking between 2 and 4 because it's probably different everytime I go back to reminiscing and ranking the series as a whole. Sometimes 2 is 1 and sometimes 4 is, and as of right now 4 stands at number one for me. I actually enjoyed Sam, he wasn't Sully or Chloe or hell even Tenzin but I still liked his introduction to the series here (in LL he fit a lot better though with Chloe and especially Nadine, it was comical). Right rom the start it was a beautiful game, obviously the graphics were amazing (Naughty Dog usually hits it out the park there) the nostalgic trip at the beginning in the attic, all the easter eggs (especially Crash Bandicoot PS1), some elements from TLOU like optional conversations for more dialogue, the locations, and the closure was perfect. When U4 came out I was going through a rough patch in my life and it helped me escape and by the end of the game, it definitely was a big pick me up on getting back up on my feet. So there might be a sentimental value there as well that gives it the nod to number 1. (Sorry for the long comment! But your video got me all into it with sharing some of my experience with the series as well 😆)

Damm I remember finishing Uncharted 2 on Brutal and watching that final cutscene. I literately cried because it was a dream for me to finish the game on that difficulty. Best game in the world!!!
So, I just beat the fourth game for the first time on the Legacy of Thieves Collection. Will do Lost Legacy soon (going through Crushing now on 4). I agree with your ranking. 4 was very good, but perhaps not quite as good as others have made it out to be. 2 was one of the best games I’ve ever played and will always be the pinnacle of the series for me. 4 was very long, and I agree that I just didn’t care about the story of it as much as I did past ones. They didn’t really flesh out the historical mystery/cool factor as much as they did with previous games. I agree that I liked the happy ending, but in some ways, at this point in my life, being single, it kinda just made me feel crappy lol. I’d probably put them in this order: 2>4>3>1. All four are fun, though. 2 is in my top ten or so ever (Last of Us is in my top 3 ever).

My personal ranking for the games are 2>4>3>1 Uncharted 1 was okay and I liked the story and I mostly agree with all of your points about it as well as it being the first game and naughty wasn't as experienced as they are now Uncharted 3 was good imo I liked the combat and overall I didn't have any problems with it whatsoever plus like you said you spent a lot of time with sully which is banter that I enjoy watching I loved uncharted 4 and although at the beginning I hated how the aiming was because it was extremely difficult to shoot people I found out scaling the sensitivity up made the trick, all the new aspects they added to the game made it more fun, grapple rope, sliding and it also has more gun variety than the previous games which was neat, personally I didn't mind Sam but I do wish he'd spend more time with let's say sully for example and overall I didn't have any major problems with it I'm gonna be honest I have a soft spot for uncharted 2 as well cuz it was my first uncharted game and I loved it, even though when I first got it I didn't care about story in videogames as much replaying it made me love it even more now that I cared about the characters and I basically love everything about it, although sully did feel left out I just can't say anything bad about uncharted 2 really cuz I love every bit of it Still don't have lost legacy tho :/
Yeah that is a possibly although that may require more work. I think it would be cool if that could do a full remaster of the game sometime - improve the graphics and take out the touch controls - I don't wanna have to do those swiping boss fights on the touchpad. Thanks for watching the video xD
Couldn’t agree with your top 3 more Lucy! The locations and stories are the big winners for me and uncharted 2 definitely tops the list in that category. Lost Legacy is a close second though, a mere DLC would not have done that game justice.

Hey Lucy, I revisited your video after doing my recent playthrough of the franchise where I was collecting the Brutal trophies for 100% the UC trilogy and Platinum 4(can't say if I'll ever get those survival mode trophies lol) and I have to say that I nearly agree with you after replaying them again. I won't be commenting on Lost Legacy because I have done only one Crushing playthrough and didn't do another one for trophies. Also I haven't played Golden Abyss yet. So here are my thoughts(I'll take the Remastered version into consideration for gameplay topics) : Uncharted 3: I think the story has the most loopholes here and I feel that the mature topics it tries to touch, it doesn't do them proper justice. The characters are great though and this game made Sully my second favorite Uncharted character. I just loved Nate and Sully's chemistry. Though Chloe in this game was a waste IMO. The gameplay is where most of my problems lie with this game. The collision detection is very wonky and the gunplay seems to be downgraded in comparison to 2. Though the guns feel good and the controls are fine, the enemies don't react while being shot as they do in other games. I am also not a huge fan of Grenade throwback because I feel that it removes any tension from the game and on higher difficulties, when enemies spam you with grenades, it kinda becomes useless. Though the music and the set pieces in this game is my favorite of the franchise. Uncharted 1: The atmosphere and the characters in this game was on point and I really love Uncharted 's combat, but this game' s combat doesn't feel anywhere as good as the rest. The guns feel bad and I hate how 9mm pistol is more useful and accurate as compared to an AK47 or Desert Eagle. The feeling of the guns is really poor in this game. If this game had Uncharted 4's gameplay mechanics, this would've been my favourite. Also the platforming here sucks Ass. Fuck the church platforming section of chapter 15. Uncharted 4: This game, IMO had the best story and the best characterisation and definitely the best gameplay mechanics. The guns felt amazing and the controls were great. The level design of the combat arena provided tons of options and the enemy AI was very good. And I loved how they took out the alternate cover trick from the previous games and I also felt that the Crushing in this game was great. More enemies, revamped enemy AI. I can't tell you how many times I've played the combat encounters of UC4. They are for me, the best part of this game. Unfortunately, UC4's pacing doesn't do it justice. The first half of the game(before Chapter 13 Marooned) is too slow and it should've been either reduced by half or the combat encounters or set pieces should've been increased significantly. This kind of laid-back pacing hurts the replayability. They tried to take aspects from TLOU, but forgot that the slow parts in TLOU don't overstay their welcome and are important for scavenging items unlike UC4. I felt this a lot when doing speedrun and then doing another playthrough for treasures. Though Rafe IMO is the best villain of the series and the sword fight with him is probably my personal favourite boss fight of any game. I forgot to mention that the platforming in this game is the best it has ever been and it never felt that I died due to the game's fault unlike previous games where I randomly failed a platforming section. Uncharted 2: This game is nearly perfect. The pacing is excellent. The characters are great. Everything from the music to gameplay fits perfectly. The combat encounters are well designed. And IMO, the Guardian fights were the best supernatural fights of the trilogy. They were quick to kill you. But they also gave you the weapons(Crossbow) which allowed you to kill them quickly. They were neither too easy like the Descendants nor annoying like The Djinns, who need to be killed twice with a heavy weapon and it became annoying. IMO, Uncharted 2 is a game which I feel that I can replay endlessly unlike 4 where the slower moments can become a deterant for replaying the game.

You bring up a lot of good points that I didn't really consider like how the guns feel (totally agree with your UDF point about the pistol being better than an AK47 is dumb!) and other aspects of gameplay. Yeah I thought with 3 the first half was excellent, Cutter was a really good addition and the levels were really interesting. Then the second half it kinda went to pot and went a bit nonsensical (although the psychedelic bits with Nate running through the streets drugged us were amusing lol and the music was really atmospheric).
Well uncharted 3 is about iram of the pillars yeah I wish cutter was in it more but sadly his voice actor had to act another game that's why his role ended but you didn't like the best part of the game the cruise ship plus you coulden't throw back grenades in the first 2 or 4

Uncharted 3 i think, really shows character development.
Firstly, Nate is much more enthusiastic about the treasure, something that he did not display in the other games. Eventhough it was different, it makes sense. Nate has survived so many close calls in his past adventures that he thinks that he can get away with anything now. He also feels like "If there is treasure, its my job to get it", because he was the one who solved the puzzles and found the treasures in the previous games and has survived to live happily in all of them every time(even if he didnt get the treasure). Like sully said in U3, hes got his "pride tangled up". Hes so adamant in getting the treasure because not only has he been searching for it since a teen, but also since he found El Dorado and Shambala, he feels like he can do anything. Not only that, i think that subtly he hates Marlowe more than any other villain and that also drives him to beat her to the treasure.
Secondly, Elena. Elena in U3 basically doesnt care about the treasure anymore. She isnt the same as she was in the past games and i think its because of the fact, that she nearly died and it was basically pure luck that she survived in U2. Not only that, Jeff also died and i feel like elena is taking that guilt because it was her curiosity that lead to someone else and nearly herself dying. In U3, elena has matured to the point where she thinks "its not worth it", because she has witnessed a friend die. Same with chloe, in u2 she was her young self not minding anything and just goes along with everything. But she has also matured like elena in u3.
Also this is an unpopular opinion, but in the first 2 games, i didnt really like sully, because in the first game, he lead the villains straight to them, even if he didnt mean to, He was portrayed as someone who would do anything for money and for himself, even if it gets others in danger. Sully had never really did anything for drake, he just didnt seem like an asset to the team. In u2, he just quit after one sorta close call, it really made me wonder like "has this guy really been friends with nate for like 20 years", it didnt seem that way. But u3 completely changed that tho, sully was an asset with his navy skills, they had great talks together(much more than 1 and 2), and he definitely felt like an older brother to nate(even if he didnt want to find the atlantis, he would "go to the ends of the earth" for nate, which he did. Sully actually felt like someone whos been great friends with nate for 20 odd years, which i think definitely lacked in the other games(dont know abyss cos i didnt play it).
If cutter had been in all of u3, i seriously think it could have been better than u2, but unfortunately that wasnt the case.

I would love to know what the rest of the story would have been like if Cutter didn't have to be written out, I dunno if that information exists on the internet somewhere. Also yes I totally get what you mean about Sully in the first 2 games, it was definitely the 3rd game that made me appreciate Sully more when replaying those games. So for that I love UC3!!

I just wanted to apologise for any audio inconsistency's in the video. I actually started making this video well over a year ago when Uncharted The Lost Legacy was just a DLC!! However once I discovered it was a full game I stopped working on the video, played The Lost Legacy and then I had to go back and rearrange the list and rerecord stuff - it became a whole thing and I started to think I would never finish this video. Anyways now I'm about 95% happy with how it sounds and if I didn't post this now I will literally spend the rest of eternity trying to fix things/rerecording bits and driving myself INSANE - so here it is!

Lost Legacy was overall amazing. The driving around got a bit tedious, but it had so many great moments. It had my favourite ending, and you really can’t go wrong with a character voiced by Claudia Black. I would love to see another Chloe lead game, unfortunately I don’t think it would happen.

Yes that is a very good point. Its nice to get that extra character development but sometimes that did get in the way of the adventure. I think Lost Legacy got the balance right though.

My personal ranking:
1) Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Improved everything, pretty much perfected the formula. Train section was so impressive.
2) Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - never felt bloated to me. Loved Elena and Nate's relationship, felt really sweet and real. Brother came out of nowhere but I loved it. Lol.
3) Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Loved the backstory and the straining of Nate and Elena's relationship. Also the drugged out scene. Bigger set pieces.
4) Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - felt like super high quality deleted scenes from Uncharted 4. Really enjoyed the characters but didn't quite live up to 4 for me.
5) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - incredible introduction to characters. Didn't know I could love game characters so much. Tomb Raider wishes it could have such a great cast. Great game but everything improved with sequels.
6) Uncharted: Golden Abyss - really fun but side characters not nearly as good as Elena, Sully, etc. Also too much Vita shenanigans.

I did spend the most time in uncharted 3 because I adored that multiplayer. I don't think the campaign was TERRIBLE but not incredible. It ranks 4 on my list but I think they're all great.

Anyway, in terms of my thoughts.
Drake's Fortune: It's a good game in it's own right, and I can play it just fine. But similar to Mario 1, Sonic 1, and Crash 1, the sequels are just better... with maybe the exception of 3. My problems with it were the jet ski, and how there were too many instances where the game wanted to pick a fight with you. Chapter 4 also introduced too many new weapons and mechanics, I felt. What I do like, however, was the story, and how there was a bit of a strategic element in the gun fights, which is something I think the other games lack in comparison.
Among Thieves: This to me, delivers the full package for an Uncharted game. It takes all the problems from the first game, and improves them significantly. Sure, there are a few annoying bits like Chapter 2 as a whole, but there's great action, characters, a well paced story, music, and everything else to counter the problems. My only gripes with the story are how the villains suffer the James Bond syndrome, and characters surviving falls when they really shouldn't have. To me, those were a bit jarring. Still a fantastic game, and my favorite of the series.
Drake's Deception: Despite some of it's problems, I still think is solid. It was my first introduction to the series, and I grew to love it. However, I will admit that it's the weakest in the series. The story just falls apart when Nate gets captured by Ramses, which had no bearing on the plot what so ever, and those fucking Djinn enemies! Fuck Chapter 21! I do dig the enhanced melee combat, and I think 3 took the action to the next level, making them a little more enjoyable... if a bit too ridiculous. 3 might be the weakest, but it has a lot of good moments as well.
A Thief's End: Sure, it's a little too laid back compared to the PS3 trilogy, but it was my GOTY of 2016. The game just felt smoother, and I enjoyed how the characters played off of each other. Rafe might not be like Lazarvich, but he's certainly not like Marlowe either. He's a villain that is insane, but he does explore Nathan's mind a little more by the end of the game. I'll admit that Nadine felt like she was there and the fights with her made little sense, particularly the second one, but it was still a fun ride.
Lost Legacy: It might not have been my GOTY of 2017, but I enjoyed this one as well. I've always said that the games won't be the same without Nathan Drake, but I like Chloe too, and her interactions with Nadine and Sam are on point. It did borrow a lot from the previous games, but the open world aspect was a cool idea. I can say it was good enough.
Thanks for taking the time to write out your thoughts for each game! I really thought I would get a lot of hate for how much I ripped into UC3 but its nice to know others agree. Also I totally agree with what you say about sequels being better than the orignal in the video game world. Both Crash 1 and UDF suffer with unfair difficulty, odd controls etc and then their sequels really improve things and are considered the best of the series by many people!

I personally hate the fact that Uncharted 4 doesn’t have any mystical/magical creatures like all the others did - I kept waiting nearly the end chapters for pirate zombie creatures or something but the end came and there was nothing - I was so disappointed

I was so relieved that there were no monsters like the other games because i always used to shit my pants with the fuckin descendants in the first game and the invincible guardians at the second. The fourth uncharted is meant to give a more normal treasure hunting, without monsters. Did you want nathans last adventure to include monsters? I know that i didnt. Wow i wrote a lot
Same here. UC4 was so caught up in the ultra realistic views that it forgot that supernatural elements a key part of the UC SERIES
It was more of a development thing in drake's case in the other games drake is chasing cursed treasure which by the time he finds that out he has to destroy where the last one was a question of does he care more for treasure then his loved ones so uncharted 4 wasn't cursed to show even it's just gold not cursed and can freely take it he would still prefer to go home empty handed in order to protect the people around him proving to his friends that he chooses them not the treasure

Fantastic retrospective of the Uncharted series! It’s definitely my favourite modern gaming franchise and Uncharted 2 is my favourite game of the series as well. I have lost count how many times I have replayed them.

So I have a funny story I was about 6 when I got into games. At the time I used my dad's PS3 so when the PS4 came out he gave me his ps3 and gave me uncharted 3. So I played the game until I got to the puzzle in Yemen I forget the chapter but it was with the gears. Never got past it. Played the chapters before over and over. Then I stopped playing. Well 6 years later I remember uncharted 3. So I buy the Nathan drake collection get on uncharted 3 look up a puzzle guide and I had a blast playing it again and finally finishing the second half of the game. Uncharted 3 will always be my favorite game.

One problem i had with uncharted 2, is that half the time i struggled to understand where on earth i needed to go.
I distinctly remember walking around the nepalese town for like, 10 minutes, before figuring out that i could climb a lamp post, and i was like 👁👄👁

Great list Lucy! And I must say, I love U3 but it does have it's flaws story wise like taking 20 years and so on. You summed it up perfectly! My #1 is actually U4 though and I'm actually a Sam fan lol. Plus Troy Baker (along with Nolan North of course) is one of my favorite voice actor's. I never played Golden Abyss though but for me:

3 is my favorite. I liked all the sections, specially the shipyard one,the airport section and the desert section that followed. I also enjoyed having a bunch of characters exploring together like in that castle level, or the bar, which then takes you to the sewers.
2 is my second favorite one. I enjoyed the Nepal section, the museum lvl, the Tibete lvl.
Then it's uncharted 4, the audition section, young Nathan, and Scotland is what makes it better than the other uncharteds.
Then it's uncharted 1, it was the first uncharted I played, and I really liked it. The monastery section during the end was the best part of the game imo. I also liked the fortress and drawned city sections.
Golden abyss comes last, it was a ps Vita game, but it was really good. I enjoyed that part where chase rescues Nate, and the Aztec section.. there was also that part when sully broke his leg.
Lastly, I haven't played lost legacy, but I'm going to start it soon, and from what I've seen, I believe it will rank between the 🥉 spot and fifth.

There's so much that I disagree with on this video (Uncharted 3 at the bottom?) but I genuinely appreciate your perspective on them. You didn't just say you didn't like something for inane reasons. You actually went into detail about why you didn't like them. So much respect to you for that.
It's interesting to watch someone who's a fellow Uncharted fan, but loves them for slightly different reasons. Speaks to the depth of these games, that are often overlooked by mainstream reviewers. 👍🏾

I'll admit, I never cared for this series much. But Christmas of 2016, I got a PS4 with Uncharted 4 included. It took me awhile to get to it, but once I played it I loved it. Now, I'm going over the whole franchise with the Nathan Drake collection. And these games are truly a blast. I'll be doing a review of each one soon. Maybe you'd like to join? Great ranking btw.

I like uc2 for many of the same reasons other people prefer it over uc3, but I've always preferred 3's badass pub brawl intro over 2's train and the way they play with camera angles

What do you mean?! Uncharted Drake's Deception is probably my favorite game in the series. And the second half is the good part! Also, the cruise ship section wasn't nearly as hard in crushing as the entirety of Drake's Fortune was. But all of the games are great.

Great video. You made some really good points. Personally for me, Uncharted 4 is my favourite because Nate is one of my favourite fictional characters of all time and since I have been with Nate from the beginning, getting to see the send off he deserves was really amazing. I also loved many aspects of the story such as Nate questioning himself or Sam being a reflection of older Nate and the relationship between Nate and Elena was the highlight of this game. Also the gameplay was phenomenal and the shooting and the stealth feels so good. Uncharted 4 on Crushing was also really challenging. And the level design was phenomenal giving you ample abilities to tackle any situation. I also loved that in this game , that the enemy AI were so good that it felt like you are fighting an army rather than NPCs. But I whole heartedly agree about the pacing issues. The pacing feels off in many scenarios. First the auction chapter, then Scotland climbing sections, Madagascar market sections,At Sea level where you just drive the boat and the parts after the Marooned Chapter. I think the game really got it's pacing right when Nate and Elena meet. I really hope that Naughty Dog nails the pacing of The Last of Us Part 2 because the first game absolutely nailed it. I would rather have a well paced 10 hour game rather than a 20 hour game where it's just padded out. Bad pacing hurts the replayability of the game. I replay some encounters of Uncharted 4 from time to time. But I don't replay the entire game like The original trilogy or The Last of Us. Sorry for long comment though.

I disagree with Lost Legacy being so high on the list, i would've put it between 3 and 1 cause i haven't played Golden Abyss, but everything else was spot on, great video as always!
It was pretty hard trying to decide where to place TLL as I hadn't played it as much as the others so in the end it came down to TLL vs UC4 and I just couldn't justify placing UC4 higher when I replayed it. Thanks for watching the video =D
Uncharted 4 is my favorite game because it has amazing graphics and it expands slealth mechancis and Stealth is way more frequent than the first three and actually also because I really liked Sam.
In his passion to find his mom's journals and his undying passion to find Avery's treasure no matter what and he's kind of a fun character too. And that sword fight at the end is phenomenal and unique because Swords were never part of Uncharted.
Also that it had no mythical creatures unlike the first three games. Which I find no reason for those creatures to appear.
Although my favourite is 4, my second favourite is actually 3. I thought it felt a lot more ballsy and dating than 2, even though it treaded a lot of the same ground.
Although, it's probably because I found the ending chapters way easier than the ending chapters of 2 and a lot less frustrating.

I never played Golden Abyss unfortunately, but hope to someday so I can complete the list. For awhile there, 3 was last on my list as well. Until I started replaying it more, and when the remastered version came out it led me to liking 3 a bit more then when I played it the first couple of times on PS3. It does have it's flaws, but I tended to appreciate the game a bit more everytime I went back to playing it. I can't say the same for 1, and it not being the first Uncharted game I played, I don't have the same nostalgic feeling for it you and many fans might have. But I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Lost Legacy was a blast, without getting into too much detail I'll say I loved every bit of it, but I just can't rank it higher than 2 or 4. Now 2 is where it gets really nostalgic for me since it was my first Uncharted game and what a way to get introduced to the series. You pretty much hit every point I loved about the game, and for me it's difficult ranking between 2 and 4 because it's probably different everytime I go back to reminiscing and ranking the series as a whole. Sometimes 2 is 1 and sometimes 4 is, and as of right now 4 stands at number one for me. I actually enjoyed Sam, he wasn't Sully or Chloe or hell even Tenzin but I still liked his introduction to the series here (in LL he fit a lot better though with Chloe and especially Nadine, it was comical). Right rom the start it was a beautiful game, obviously the graphics were amazing (Naughty Dog usually hits it out the park there) the nostalgic trip at the beginning in the attic, all the easter eggs (especially Crash Bandicoot PS1), some elements from TLOU like optional conversations for more dialogue, the locations, and the closure was perfect. When U4 came out I was going through a rough patch in my life and it helped me escape and by the end of the game, it definitely was a big pick me up on getting back up on my feet. So there might be a sentimental value there as well that gives it the nod to number 1.

You mention a lot of great points about UC4 too, I do love the nostalgia factor as thats a great pay-off for long time fans and its nice it helped you through a rough patch - it would have been higher than TLL if not for the fact that when i think about replaying it, I kinda just wanna start the game from chapter 10 lol

Damm I remember finishing Uncharted 2 on Brutal and watching that final cutscene. I literately cried because it was a dream for me to finish the game on that difficulty. Best game in the world!!!

I agree with your ranking. 4 was very good, but perhaps not quite as good as others have made it out to be. 2 was one of the best games I’ve ever played and will always be the pinnacle of the series for me.
4 was very long, and I agree that I just didn’t care about the story of it as much as I did past ones. They didn’t really flesh out the historical mystery/cool factor as much as they did with previous games.
I agree that I liked the happy ending, but in some ways, at this point in my life, being single, it kinda just made me feel crappy lol.
I’d probably put them in this order: 2>4>3>1. All four are fun, though.
2 is in my top ten or so ever (Last of Us is in my top 3 ever).
I couldn't agree more about Uncharted 4. The Nate/Sam dynamic never quite clicked for me either.

I loved uncharted 4 and although at the beginning I hated how the aiming was because it was extremely difficult to shoot people I found out scaling the sensitivity up made the trick, all the new aspects they added to the game made it more fun, grapple rope, sliding and it also has more gun variety than the previous games which was neat, personally I didn't mind Sam but I do wish he'd spend more time with let's say sully for example and overall I didn't have any major problems with it
I'm gonna be honest I have a soft spot for uncharted 2 as well cuz it was my first uncharted game and I loved it, even though when I first got it I didn't care about story in videogames as much replaying it made me love it even more now that I cared about the characters and I basically love everything about it, although sully did feel left out I just can't say anything bad about uncharted 2 really cuz I love every bit of it

Yeah that is a possibly although that may require more work. I think it would be cool if that could do a full remaster of the game sometime - improve the graphics and take out the touch controls - I don't wanna have to do those swiping boss fights on the touchpad. Thanks for watching the video xD

Couldn’t agree with your top 3 more Lucy! The locations and stories are the big winners for me and uncharted 2 definitely tops the list in that category. Lost Legacy is a close second though, a mere DLC would not have done that game justice.

Hey Lucy, I revisited your video after doing my recent playthrough of the franchise where I was collecting the Brutal trophies for 100% the UC trilogy and Platinum 4(can't say if I'll ever get those survival mode trophies lol) and I have to say that I nearly agree with you after replaying them again. I won't be commenting on Lost Legacy because I have done only one Crushing playthrough and didn't do another one for trophies. Also I haven't played Golden Abyss yet. So here are my thoughts(I'll take the Remastered version into consideration for gameplay topics) :
Uncharted 3:
I think the story has the most loopholes here and I feel that the mature topics it tries to touch, it doesn't do them proper justice. The characters are great though and this game made Sully my second favorite Uncharted character. I just loved Nate and Sully's chemistry. Though Chloe in this game was a waste IMO. The gameplay is where most of my problems lie with this game. The collision detection is very wonky and the gunplay seems to be downgraded in comparison to 2. Though the guns feel good and the controls are fine, the enemies don't react while being shot as they do in other games. I am also not a huge fan of Grenade throwback because I feel that it removes any tension from the game and on higher difficulties, when enemies spam you with grenades, it kinda becomes useless. Though the music and the set pieces in this game is my favorite of the franchise.
Uncharted 1:
The atmosphere and the characters in this game was on point and I really love Uncharted 's combat, but this game' s combat doesn't feel anywhere as good as the rest. The guns feel bad and I hate how 9mm pistol is more useful and accurate as compared to an AK47 or Desert Eagle. The feeling of the guns is really poor in this game. If this game had Uncharted 4's gameplay mechanics, this would've been my favourite. Also the platforming here sucks Ass. Fuck the church platforming section of chapter 15.
Uncharted 4:
This game, IMO had the best story and the best characterisation and definitely the best gameplay mechanics. The guns felt amazing and the controls were great. The level design of the combat arena provided tons of options and the enemy AI was very good. And I loved how they took out the alternate cover trick from the previous games and I also felt that the Crushing in this game was great. More enemies, revamped enemy AI. I can't tell you how many times I've played the combat encounters of UC4. They are for me, the best part of this game. Unfortunately, UC4's pacing doesn't do it justice. The first half of the game(before Chapter 13 Marooned) is too slow and it should've been either reduced by half or the combat encounters or set pieces should've been increased significantly. This kind of laid-back pacing hurts the replayability. They tried to take aspects from TLOU, but forgot that the slow parts in TLOU don't overstay their welcome and are important for scavenging items unlike UC4. I felt this a lot when doing speedrun and then doing another playthrough for treasures.
Though Rafe IMO is the best villain of the series and the sword fight with him is probably my personal favourite boss fight of any game. I forgot to mention that the platforming in this game is the best it has ever been and it never felt that I died due to the game's fault unlike previous games where I randomly failed a platforming section.
Uncharted 2:
This game is nearly perfect. The pacing is excellent. The characters are great. Everything from the music to gameplay fits perfectly. The combat encounters are well designed. And IMO, the Guardian fights were the best supernatural fights of the trilogy. They were quick to kill you. But they also gave you the weapons(Crossbow) which allowed you to kill them quickly. They were neither too easy like the Descendants nor annoying like The Djinns, who need to be killed twice with a heavy weapon and it became annoying. IMO, Uncharted 2 is a game which I feel that I can replay endlessly unlike 4 where the slower moments can become a deterant for replaying the game.

Yeah I thought with 3 the first half was excellent, Cutter was a really good addition and the levels were really interesting.
Then the second half it kinda went to pot and went a bit nonsensical (although the psychedelic bits with Nate running through the streets drugged us were amusing lol and the music was really atmospheric).
