    She spent a lot of time just to prove a point and I appreciate it because I’m sick of the narrative that if you have to do all that your hair isn’t curly. I’m black no one would say I don’t have curly hair but I have to do all this to make my curls look good otherwise it would just be a frizzy mess

      ^ me and my dad have 3b curls, and he got them from HIS late father who was black with coarser natural coils, but they've both always kept their hair buzzed short enough not to have to learn much about hair care. My dad is mixed, but he's light skin and favors his mom a lot more than his dad, who I never knew, so it was easy to forget to even consider I might have had different hair to my mom's, and I never really had any connection to any black folks aside from a few grade school kids and family friends. I grew up with all the women in my life having pin straight hair, and the amount of times growing up that I had my nappy hair yanked around, ends broken off, not properly hydrated.. most days I either had my hair straightened with an iron, or looked like a stuffed lion that just came out of the dryer! Honest to goodness I didn't even know my hair was curly, except a few baby curls on the back of my neck, until I made more friends in high school, and one of the black girls I was close with asked why I never tried brushing with a comb or pick, used leave in conditioner, etc. I just said my momma didn't use any of that, and I just used the same things she did even though my hair was "more difficult than hers." Imagine my surprise finding out those baby curls are what my whole head of hair looks like when it's healthy, and that I never saw what my healthy hair actually looked like until I was 16 years old.

      REAL!! My mom has curly hair and I have wavy/kinda curly hair, but unfortunately in order to get my curls to show well, I have to put in a shit ton of effort (which I don’t normally do bc, you know, I don’t have time for that) So this one girl who sits with me during study hall was like “so what’s your hair routine?” And I was like “I honestly just use hydrating shampoo and some hair balm.” She then proceeded to give me a weird look and said “ok so what does it look like normally?” and I was like “girl it’s still wavy”😭

      She define anything. She completely changed her curl pattern. The finger coils turn into the coils/curling rod look just like everyone else's hair when they do that. Those are not her natural curls. She does have curly hair but that isn't her patter.
      How do i know? Because i am black with kinky hair and finger coils make my hair look exactly like that.

    • @RunaCluster

      @PandaGirl2023
      Yeah, except her hair wasn't wavy or straight and became curly. How do I know? Because I have wavy hair and curly/ straight hair routine don't do anything OR end up in a mess. The finger coiling technique doesn't work with "everyone" to begin with. With me, the best it can do is make my hair in bigger locks. The only way for people like me to get that would be a curling iron and/or tons of hair gel. Also, If she has curly hair, these routines will have an effect in general, even if not lasting effect.
      Edit: Also, most kinky hair is a subcategory of curly hair but with more texture and tighter curles. So the curles already exist, you just slightly changed the size.

      @@PandaGirl2023here we go with the gatekeeping.
      Im a tailor in training, we have the science of fabric manipulation in school so let me enlighten you about the science.
      Animal fibres can only change theire normal shape through heat and moisture or damage to theire structure.
      Human hair is an animal fiber (nor used in clothing but it works just the same)
      Pressing with an iron to press out wrinkles, or add folds, is the same process as using a flat/curling iron.
      You have to let your hair cool and dry before letting go of the shape you put it in with heat and moisture, otherwise it will take on its natural shape again.
      If you have curly hair and straightened it once you might know that contact with water/humidity destroys the results.
      Your hair wants to be in its natural shape and what they do with it cannot create a curl, it can help a curl.
      There is no heat involved and they don't let theire hair dry before they let go of the shape. Ergo: helping, not creating.
      Thats why the black haired woman did not get curls and the blonde one did, she already had hair that naturally has that shape, but not enough mass to hold it up without help.
      So yes she has curly hair, but not thick hair.

People have told her over and over she actually has straight hair. My hair is straight like yours and I did a similar method just to test it for my friend since she was having imposter syndrome about it. Not only was my hair straight, it was so heavy with product that I ended up washing it again that day. People need to see videos like this to prove the point - product and routine won't cause curls.

I was saying that if you have curly hair, curls will show, if you don't have curly hair, curls won't show. If you have curly hair, your curls will be more defined and nice when doing the routine, and not, for most cases, undefined and frizzy ones.

    Great experiment! Your curl pattern grows out of your head. It is in your DNA. It is the bonds in your hair. The curly routine just helps your hair to retain moisture and remove frizz, so your true curls can thrive. :)

      I used to use it every time I washed my hair. I had really long hair BUT I had it permed. And I had it dyed a gorgeous burgundy color. I loved it. So did strangers. Things started to get weird. Strangers would compliment me on how much they loved my hair and then would just... TOUCH IT! Maybe it's just me but my reaction was always WTF!?! Then, the parking garage for my work was across the street from a homeless shelter. No big deal. Until one of my coworkers noticed a guy on the other side of the street eyeing me and keeping pace with me. The parking garage was Several blocks away from the building I worked in. Said coworker walked me all the way to my car. He was a former police officer and due to his job at my work, carried a gun on him. But the morning I got to work early and some guy starts yelling across the street at me, saying "hey red! I love your hair! Can I get your number?" And kept pace with me, though still on the other side of the street (I don't know why but I'm glad they did), I'd had enough of being freaked out over my HAIR. I cut it very short soon after. But just washing my hair and getting it dry was a whole routine that took a minimum of an hour and yes, I used a lot of products to keep my hair healthy, to define the curls, and to keep the curls from being frizzy. If you have only ever had straight hair, you honestly have no idea what it takes to maintain curls like the first girl in this video.

But when i heard again in social media that you're doing all which means your hair isnt curly or you're forcing your curls etc. Glad to know no amount of products would hold my curls if my hair isn't naturally curly. I was playing around with this straight hair strand that was randomly in my house one day, and the way that thing defied the law of gravity stunned me. Wetting the thing did nothing. It was stiff, due to folical shape being circular. Bending it only made it more determined to be straight again. How in the actual hell do people just live with several thousand of these strands in their head, when they behave this way? 😭

    Born with straight hair and loved it. Then, hair turned curly in middle school and never changed back. So much work involved to detangle, tame, and style every day. Every time I hear someone with straight hair lament over wanting waves/curls, I have to bring them back to reality. It's one thing to have it temporarily styled and feeling fancy in that moment, but to spend so much time, effort, and money on products every day to keep your hair from looking like a matted mess and a psychopath is something those with straight hair never have to suffer with. There's no detangling nor frizz management routine. While the current beauty standard views frizz like it makes a person look crazy, the frizz exists because there's nothing weighing down the shorter pieces of curly hair -- hence the "need" to iron them down and use products to hopefully make them stay down to avoid the crazy look. Society clearly favours the look of straight hair. There was only a brief time in history when afros and curly perms were popular. And, while there are straight perms, those are more damaging than curly perms.
    Your hair is naturally beautiful. Thank you for showing this hair routine is only a "necessity" for those with curly hair and how much is involved in it. Every curly hair routine is unique to the person. What works for her, may not work as well for another, and it's clearly unnecessary for those with straight hair.

    I would like to point out that one of the goals of the "curly method" is moisture/treatment retention, seeing as curly hair usually is more dry.
    So there is no issue in using this method in straight hair. You won't get curly hair out of it, but the treatment part will be good for your hair.

    • @playlistgod1244
      @playlistgod1244 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I think it depends on the hair type of the person. For example, when I tried styling afro-Caribbean type hair, it needed a lot of oil based products and conditioner to work with it and detangle it, whereas with other types of curls on people who don't have that hair type, using the same amount of oil based products and conditioner would make the hair greasy and weigh it down and be very uncomfortable for the person. Afro-Carribean hair seems to be more porous so it needs a lot of moisture, but most non-black people with curly hair have hair that isn't so much dry, but rather it can feel rough when not straightened because the strands aren't going all the same way, which is why when you straighten it you can usually see that it's not dry/rough but is quite healthy and smooth, just usually the strands aren't going in the same direction so it might not look/feel as smooth when it's curly/frizzy. Ofc Afro-Caribbean hair is also healthy, it just usually needs to retain more oils to prevent dryness and tangling since it's often more porous.

      There aren’t really any products that _actually_ guarantee to increase the rate of hair growth other than Minoxidil. The best thing to do is just ensure you maintain good scalp health, good bodily health (especially adequate hydration and a balanced diet with no vitamin or nutrient deficiencies) and make sure you are not loosing hair length from dry/damaged ends breaking off (so avoid heat styling wherever possible, avoid bleach or chemical hair treatments, keep your ends well hydrated, get a trim regularly etc)

    Thank you so much. Even while I have straight hair I always feel pity reading Gatekeepers posts be like „ohh no she/ he/ them doesn’t have ACTUAL curly hair. Theirs are straight, they simply styled them to be curly“. Like folks come on: you do not style straight hair curly. You’re lucky your straight hair keeps a ponytail for more than like 3 seconds. They never hold any curly stiles. When you’re able to get curls in any way (besides of hard chemicals - and even that’s not granted) than you don’t have straight hair. Just because there are millions of woman not realising straightening their hair is easy it doesn’t say you have straight hair.
    If you have volume: probably no straight hair. If your hairstyles stay in place: probably no straight hair. If you need to put in any effort - even the slightest bit of- to straighten your hair: probably no straight hair. If your hair stick to any type of curls or waves: probably no straight hair. If you have straight hair they will always be like this: straight. No mouse, no spray, no iron, no blowdryer, no scrunching, no twisting, no nothing will change that. No matter what you’re doing to style it, it will go back to straight within 5 seconds.

    I never understood the "forcing curls" comment. Nobody says that when people use curling irons?? Let ppl style their hair howevery they want jeez

    Thank you omg, straight hair are just straight and you can’t magically make them wavy or curled unless you go to a hair salon
    Straight hair is beautiful and it does exist

    You should try wetting your hair and then brush it,after you brush it dry it then add curling cream to style it.
