    I had chronic proximal hamstring tendinopathy and I barely have any issues running now and playing sports -- i want to share this podcast called: Overcoming Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy by Brodie Sharpe it is so education and also E3 Rehab. They saved my running career and my hamstring and I couldn't be more blessed. This condition is discouraging and difficult but to whoever is reading this, you got this!❤

      Hey! Been dealing with this over a year now-did you ever try plylometrics? I’m a big fan of Brodie’s but still struggling on a full recovery! How was your recovery process? Thanks so much !!

    I've been struggling with this condition for more than a year as a result of having taken up kick scooting. I have watched dozens of videos on treatment options. While this video didn't really introduce anything new the presenter made things much clearer to me in terms of what causes the problem in the first place, what movements to avoid, and what exercises to undertake. Thanks!

    Hi! I'm a professional mountain runner (and some road marathons) and I have a TH-cam channel that relies on my running for content : ) So this video was a HUGE help for me!!! I have my first PT appointment next week and I'm struggling a little bit with how long I should not run right now. I've taken 7 days off of running at this point, and I'm doing my own bridge exercises at the house. When I run the pain is definitely below 3, never at a 4, do you think I could resume running on flat courses for now? THIS VIDEO gives me hope, thank you! Also, I have no pain doing aggressive bridge exercises, just a little bit of discomfort.

      Hey fancy seeing you here Seth! Your own experience with this on the vlog is what made me realize it's what I'm suffering from. So, thanks for that :-) In my case I've been hitting the hills in preparation for a 10mi race with 2400' elevation gain (and loss). I'm going to try easing back on the hills and intensity along with the exercises. Cutting running completely would be really a last resort. Happy to see you seem to have come through yours without stopping running completely.

    I’ve had chronic pain(low back, herniated discs and other chronic issues) and I’ve pretty much been “home bound” and NOW, I’ve been diagnosed with, “Chronic Hamstring Tendinopathy!” I went to PT, literally did like, 5 bridges, 5 semi stretch, and, holy crap, the next four days, I had severe pain!!! I’m not a “runner,” or athlete, how did this happen to me?!!!

    This is very helpful, I really like lifting heavy but I've had this flare up really badly after deadlifting or squatting. I'm going to take some time to strengthen and hopefully recover completely from this I'm just wondering if I can hope to be able to squat or deadlift heavy again after I've recovered.

    When I do the static bridge I can feel my back muscles working overtime. Difficult to isolate hamstrings.

    Hi there I’ve had this pain for 6 years now. It was originally misdiagnosed as SIJ ligament sprain.
    At times it’s gotten better and I can sprint again ( I was a international sprinter at youth level ) and I even managed to run a 6.4s handheld 60m earlier this year, which is about a 6.7s or 6.8s electric. (For reference the world record is 6.3 electronic..)
    Only for it to flare up again before I could actually race :(
    I have some clips on my TH-cam if anyone is interested.
    I’m a sad story, but I hope to get back to international level sprinting and prove this injury can be overcome.
    Can you please give me some advise on loading schedules, eg time between weights sessions and time between running sessions ?
    I get better for one or two weeks then it flares up again, and the cycle continues.
    Thanks so much for your content.
    Todd

    Very informative! Thank you. Can I use the Cybex Arc trainer with this injury? Also, should I continue to walk even though I have a “tightness and very slight burning sensation” the next day (rest day) in the injured area? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    At what point would you introduce cupping or dry needling? And can you needle directly into the proximal hamstring tendon?

    Pain not greater than a 4 or 5 that goes back to baseline discomfort within 36 hours. So what about when your base pain is already more than a 4 or 5?

    Thanks for the info. I'm a Spinning instructor, and have been dealing with this for sometime. My pain level is about a 3/4. Do you believe Spinning will aggravate this condition? Also should these exercises be done daily? Thank you

    • @Feldmanphysicaltherapy
      @Feldmanphysicaltherapy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! The seated nature of spinning could definitely aggravate it a bit, as long as that pain stays in that zone keep monitoring it. Ideally shoot for 4-5 days/ week for the exercises

    I hurt my hamstring playing golf a few weeks ago and it is just not getting better, I definitely feel a little pain right under my butt (in between my butt and leg), groin and upper hamstring (hamstring also burns a little on and off) - can this injury also be felt in one testicle? Because the same side one has also felt off since this happened. I do have lower back issues and sciatica from a gym injury 20yrs ago so that doesn't help, I have started seeing a chiropractor again recently.

    This is the exact pain I have been suffering from. I do daily yoga and walk. I have heard it can be overstretching the hamstrings. Is that possible?

  • @juancs1979
    @juancs1979 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you very informative. I’m a runner and I have had this PHT for over 2 months, it’s been more discomfort than pain and I have worked on strengthening my glutes and was pain free for 3 weeks, I can even work out my legs normally and no issues and of course I stopped running for almost 4 weeks now. I did an easy 30 minute run and then the discomfort came back. Should I just not run for another month and replace it by doing power walks ? Any advice is appreciated.

    • @Feldmanphysicaltherapy
      @Feldmanphysicaltherapy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to say, best advice is to find a local PT/Physio to help guide you through. Sometimes we need to alter your running mechanics or slow your pace to get the tendon to tolerate load

    This is my life for nearly TWO years. I do Pilates 5 times a week to continue build strength.
    I’ve done PT for a month now with no success.
    How do you feel about cortisone injections? I think that my next step, if I can get my orthopedic doc to do it.

    • @loribrooks5596
      @loribrooks5596 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ashley Witson, PT, DPT Thank you for your reply. I have been dealing with this for almost 2 years now. It started from taking up Pilates. I think I overstretched. I noticed the soreness the next day and it increased over time. I ultimately developed a knot where the tendon meets the IT. I suspect scar tissue/inflammation. I went to PT and was thankful to realize the exact location of the issue. I thought it was much lower, but as soon as the PT began working on the correct spot, it was obvious. It felt bruised and sore as soon as he touched that area. I have since started percussion massage on that area and have noticed some improvement. I have continued to work on strength training in Pilates, lots of bridge work and so forth. I am hopeful this will work out..... eventually.

      @@DK-gl3ih I have only noticed a small amount of improvement through the deep percussion massage. If I keep doing what I am doing perhaps it will eventually get better. I'm at the point where I am not sure, and only time will tell. I have an appointment with another doctor this coming Tuesday. He uses lasers and other therapies. I am hoping he can shed more light on my situation. I am ready to be more aggressive with treatment. 2 years is too long.

    I'm a middle aged hockey player. I have no idea how I did this. I was dealing with a mild MCL strain, seems like as soon as my knee got better, this hit me on the opposite leg. I've always been super flexible, I stretch regularly, this is the first time I just can't do a hamstring stretch. I'm hoping I can work through this with exercises to get back to my hockey specific weight training (I hadn't been doing them because of my knee).

      Have you ruled out piriformis syndrome? Google it. I heard that some people get the popping in the leg, so I thought I would mention it.
